I legitimately cannot believe people are buying the Wii U version of Zelda in the UK this far from launch. (Unless I'm reading the chart wrong).

Yep, basically everybody is buying a Nintendo console to play Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda. They are always going to be the biggest sellers on Nintendo hardware.

Zelda is not always one of the best selling game on Nintendo hardware tho. The best selling Zelda is Twilight Princess and it was not even in the top 10 of Wii's best sellers (#13). Same with the DS/3DS entries.

Zelda BotW is not following past Zelda games sales pattern. It is doing its own thing.

Good to see Shadow of the Colossus in high place. So far so good.

These charts need some big new releases to breathe new life into them. MHW feels like a long time ago (January). Anything that can knock FIFA/COD/GTA off the top releasing before GoW or Far Cry? Last year we had some big games release in the first few months of the year (RE7, Nier, NiOH, Zelda, Horizon). This year has been comparatively quiet other than MHW. Just remakes and niche games for the most part so far.

Hey Bruno , could you post the numbers for the Far Cry series in UK at launch? Wanna see the trend for the series for predict Far Cry 5 launch :D

I remember Primal sold ~80K first week, but i don't know the rest, i guess Far Cry 4 launch was easy a >100K first week.

Nintendo gave sold numbers too. And I don't know what do you mean with your second statement, Nintendo is a much bigger publisher than Sony, even if 3rd party games were successful on Nintendo consoles the best selling games would still be mostly Nintendo published.
By what metric?

Nintendo games being more successful on Nintendo platforms than third parties has more to do with Nintendo cultivating a fanbase and image where Nintendo games are THE games to play on those systems than them being "bigger" than Sony or whatever (whatever that means).

Why? Some people still don't care about a Switch right now. You can get almost the same big games (Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon) on the WiiU. And they have Super Smash Bros. There are a few who are waiting another year for more games. Even I know a few in my circle of friends.

It's a Splatoon game and you can still play it perfectly fine on the WiiU. Doesn't matter if it's 1 or 2 =)
Miiverse is gone, which takes out its social element entirely, and a majority of the active playerbase for the end-span of the game's life came from Asia, which has all but fully transplanted to Splatoon 2. Is what I mean.

If you wanted to buy a Wii U for the other games and stuff like 3D World, that's perfectly understandable.

C'Mon, if Sony and Ninty become third parties, what games do you think will sell the most (and by a big margin)?

Yep, I know that. Still, it plays perfectly fine. Got a few Nintendo hardcore fans who are still playing it weekly. Like I said, the big ones are on the WiiU already. Even two Xenoblades. A lot of people are waiting 2 years (or even longer) to buy a new console.
Not this again lol :)
? Have I missed a meme? =P

I'm just shocked that anyone still cares about the Wii U in 2018, especially when nobody really did in the UK in the first place. Not complaining of course, I loved my Wii U.

I'm guessing the Argos discount another member mentioned caused it to chart as well.

Setting aside that that's not how we measure how big companies are, that's not how it works. If Sony and Nintendo went third party, neither company would produce the games they do now. All the revenue they make from hardware, licensing fees, subscriptions, etc gives both companies a lot more room to experiment than third parties.

Being £20 cheaper probably helps. If you have a WiiU sitting around and have heard the hype but don't want to buy a Switch, £29.99 for a lesser version sounds reasonable

LiquidSolid thanks.
Top 100 is so much better than top 10 only.

Forza Horizon 3 being noticeably above Motorsport 7 seems to become rather the norm.

So does someone know if those charts include hardbundle copies, or not?

I legitimately cannot believe people are buying the Wii U version of Zelda in the UK this far from launch. (Unless I'm reading the chart wrong).

If it's still putting up this noticeble percentage then there's a good chance it's still selling noticeable amounts woldwide, could it hit a million for the financial year

So good to see RE7 selling so well in the UK and Germany. I wonder what keeps it going there as opposed to other regions.

I thought Australia and New Zealand were pretty big on the Xbox brand, yet both of the top 100 list for both countries in 2017 shows a much stronger focus on the PlayStation with Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo Sport and Horizon Zero Dawn all easing into the top 15.

When I went travelling to both countries back in 2008, the (original) DS and Xbox 360 were the two biggest selling formats there, you see.

Xbox is much bigger than Nintendo here in NZ (not that that's hard) but lol no. NZ is a lot like mainland Europe in that Sony entrenched PlayStation on our market with the PS1 and PS2 and games like GT, Crash, Singstar, etc and it's been the status quo ever since. You're talking about a country where Bloodborne and The Order 1886 outsold Halo 5.

As for Aus, both Xbox and Nintendo are more competitive than in NZ but PlayStation is still the dominant console. The PS3 outsold the 360.

Surprised to hear this!

Obviously I don't live in either country however, the general consensus was that the original DS and the Xbox 360 were often the two that was spoken about, or through the limited (AUS and NZ) media that I happen to read at the time; Fable II and Gears of War 2 was everywhere.

Just my observation during my year-long travels back in 2008, is all.

Bayonetta rank seems poor, what a shame. I did my part for Germany at least.

Germany has a huge nostalgia for Secret of Mana or anything SNES related really as it was huge here. Check the Amazon DE rankings and you will see the SNES mini and Secret of Mana charting really high.

Shame about Bayonetta but that one is Nintendo's own fault. This should have been priced at €40 and not full price. I have done my part but I can see why someone would not be willing to pay for a re-release as much as for the original which came out 3 years ago.

Doesn't Germany count special editions separately (I know France does but I'm pretty sure Germany does too)? If So combining could easily bump it up to a respectable position
