Its a sign that its doing super well with a wider audience. Really happy to see.
I legitimately cannot believe people are buying the Wii U version of Zelda in the UK this far from launch. (Unless I'm reading the chart wrong).
Yep, basically everybody is buying a Nintendo console to play Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda. They are always going to be the biggest sellers on Nintendo hardware.

Yeah, I would have expected a FFXV kind of split. It's amazing how it has found such a mass appeal. Its a sign that its doing super well with a wider audience. Really happy to see.
Shadow of the Colossus has great legs.
I'm happy to see it is still doing well
While you're not wrong, that undersells it somewhat. It's 37m+
Its not even the best GTA, but it sure sells a lot.
By what metric?Nintendo gave sold numbers too. And I don't know what do you mean with your second statement, Nintendo is a much bigger publisher than Sony, even if 3rd party games were successful on Nintendo consoles the best selling games would still be mostly Nintendo published.
Why? Some people still don't care about a Switch right now. You can get almost the same big games (Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon) on the WiiU. And they have Super Smash Bros. There are a few who are waiting another year for more games. Even I know a few in my circle of friends.I legitimately cannot believe people are buying the Wii U version of Zelda in the UK this far from launch. (Unless I'm reading the chart wrong).
I wouldn't use Splatoon 1 for this example. Why? Some people still don't care about a Switch right now. You can get almost the same big games (Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon) on the WiiU. And they have Super Smash Bros. There are a few who are waiting another year for more games. Even I know a few in my circle of friends.
It's a Splatoon game and you can still play it perfectly fine on the WiiU. Doesn't matter if it's 1 or 2 =)
Miiverse is gone, which takes out its social element entirely, and a majority of the active playerbase for the end-span of the game's life came from Asia, which has all but fully transplanted to Splatoon 2. Is what I mean. It's a Splatoon game and you can still play it perfectly fine on the WiiU. Doesn't matter if it's 1 or 2 =)
By what metric?
Nintendo games being more successful on Nintendo platforms than third parties has more to do with Nintendo cultivating a fanbase and image where Nintendo games are THE games to play on those systems than them being "bigger" than Sony or whatever (whatever that means).
Yep, I know that. Still, it plays perfectly fine. Got a few Nintendo hardcore fans who are still playing it weekly. Like I said, the big ones are on the WiiU already. Even two Xenoblades. A lot of people are waiting 2 years (or even longer) to buy a new console.Miiverse is gone, which takes out its social element entirely, and a majority of the active playerbase for the end-span of the game's life came from Asia, which has all but fully transplanted to Splatoon 2. Is what I mean.
If you wanted to buy a Wii U for the other games and stuff like 3D World, that's perfectly understandable.
? Have I missed a meme? =P
I'm just shocked that anyone still cares about the Wii U in 2018, especially when nobody really did in the UK in the first place. Not complaining of course, I loved my Wii U.Why? Some people still don't care about a Switch right now. You can get almost the same big games (Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon) on the WiiU. And they have Super Smash Bros. There are a few who are waiting another year for more games. Even I know a few in my circle of friends.
Setting aside that that's not how we measure how big companies are, that's not how it works. If Sony and Nintendo went third party, neither company would produce the games they do now. All the revenue they make from hardware, licensing fees, subscriptions, etc gives both companies a lot more room to experiment than third parties.C'Mon, if Sony and Ninty become third parties, what games do you think will sell the most (and by a big margin)?

Seems like the IGEA released lists of the 2017 Top 100 selling retail games in Australia and New Zealand last week. Hopefully this all fits in one post.

I legitimately cannot believe people are buying the Wii U version of Zelda in the UK this far from launch. (Unless I'm reading the chart wrong).

Xbox is much bigger than Nintendo here in NZ (not that that's hard) but lol no. NZ is a lot like mainland Europe in that Sony entrenched PlayStation on our market with the PS1 and PS2 and games like GT, Crash, Singstar, etc and it's been the status quo ever since. You're talking about a country where Bloodborne and The Order 1886 outsold Halo 5.I thought Australia and New Zealand were pretty big on the Xbox brand, yet both of the top 100 list for both countries in 2017 shows a much stronger focus on the PlayStation with Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo Sport and Horizon Zero Dawn all easing into the top 15.
When I went travelling to both countries back in 2008, the (original) DS and Xbox 360 were the two biggest selling formats there, you see.

As for Aus, both Xbox and Nintendo are more competitive than in NZ but PlayStation is still the dominant console. The PS3 outsold the 360.
fascinating :)
Bayonetta rank seems poor, what a shame. I did my part for Germany at least.Germany February 2018: https://www.bild.de/spiele/spiele-c...e-fuer-pc-playstation-xbox-44941444.bild.html

I think it is a given at this point. The question is how far beyond 10M will it go.If MHW keep on going this strong then 10 million on console can really happen
Germany has a huge nostalgia for Secret of Mana or anything SNES related really as it was huge here. Check the Amazon DE rankings and you will see the SNES mini and Secret of Mana charting really high.
Shame about Bayonetta but that one is Nintendo's own fault. This should have been priced at €40 and not full price. I have done my part but I can see why someone would not be willing to pay for a re-release as much as for the original which came out 3 years ago.
Doesn't Germany count special editions separately (I know France does but I'm pretty sure Germany does too)? If So combining could easily bump it up to a respectable position
are you saying 10m will hit before the launch of PC version in Fall? or 10m on console for life time?I think it is a given at this point. The question is how far beyond 10M will it go.
