I got half life alyx currently and now am about to start Panzer Dragoon. This is the best gaming week ever.

What a fuckin' generation for remakes, man. RE2 & RE3, Crash and Spyro, (part of) FFVII, Seiken Densetsu 3 and now Panzer Dragoon, with Zwei in the works.

4 weeks is just the pre-order window, you'll probably have to wait 2/3 months on top of that for manufacturing.
Will I like this as a fan of old-school StarFox? It's grabbed my attention since the first showing they did last year.

Panzer Dragoon is even more niche than Shenmue, so isn't that weird that they are not interested on developing one
Eh, I'd still give more credit to PD over Shenmue. Don't want to start a flame war, so I'll leave it at that.

I'm desperately trying and failing to find a Switch I can buy, and now this drops. My timing couldn't be any worse/better.

Just go with NISA then. Sega already distribute all of their NA releases and have had some semi-related parterships before. Like when Atlus localized the original Disgaea on PS2.
This screws over folks like me in Canada who would have to pay a premium to buy these through them, or at some local indue stores that still charge a premium for the same reasons.
It's unreal how many games from legacy franchises coming are out so close together. This alone made this direct worth it. Hopefully it's good...
Their marketing for this has been absolutely abysmal if not entirely absent... Never a good sign in video game land.
The latter games for sure, but it is worth reminding folk that this first title is very much a tech demo for what would come later. I'm not sure how well it'll hold up for someone coming to this fresh.
It's a launch exclusive. It'll be on other platformers later (already announced for PC).
I have absolutely no problem putting the first panzer dragoon over star fox.
The first game is on it's own a terrific 3D shmup, one of the very best. Like the best bits from galaxy force and space harrier, the panzer dragoon games have always shown an incredible knack for enemy placement that was in place from the very beginning. The first game is not as mechanically deep as the later, but it's still a very solid shmup.
I would say Panzer Dragoon leans a LOT more on its aesthetics than Star Fox does. like a lot, to the point where I'd almost say its closer to Rez.

Yeah, this is what I'm getting at. The deeper gameplay comes in with the sequel, Zwei.
I want to get it, bit shocked at $25 price, but its worth it. Going to wait on reviews to make sure it performs well. Tempted to wait for 4K HDR on PS4 Pro, but I may cave on switch.

It has said that since November. They clarified on their Steam game forum that this winter meant, more or less, by the end of March.
