Here's the original explanation, courtesy of maxcriden, the grandfather of parody thread urges:

Parody threads are frowned upon on --redacted--. Sometimes I have a really good idea for one though. I imagine I am not alone in this. This is a thread to post your ideas for parody threads, and laughter can ensue.
