Path of building is inaccurate af, instead of %physical leeched as life - just % attack dmg leeched as life etc.

This game seems a bit intimidating for new comers. But I'm still going it to download it on PC. Do you have any good tutorials for the latest expansion/patch?

3 days 14 hours and only one exalt, 3 4 Elder 0 watcher's eye

Deadeye Spectral Shield Throw seems like a fun meme build with good clear speed will probably do that after the patch

...and it's really hard to justify the use of other melee skills when Cyclone is so good
Bladestorm was fun until it was broken
Cleave feels bad when you are not one shotting
Lacerate is very hard to control, good for delve's corridors but very meh for mapping
Perforate is just sad

If you are completely new to the game then you should be looking at general tutorials for the game, not the latest patch/expansion in which most of the changes/additions would be lost on your anyway.

There is an in-game tutorial though with lots of texts but generally you get most of your information from POE Wiki and databases as the amount of mechanics/information in the game is massive. I would recommend following a build guide with labels like "3.7 beginner friendly/league starter" and you still want to start in the new league due to more people playing in it and a tighter economy.

Also for all the farmers out there.... keep an eye out for Elder Spiked Gloves bases (ilevel 85). These are worth 9+ Exalts at the moment! This is mostly because ilvl85 gloves can get +1 to melee weapon range and we all know how much worth that is these days....

And of course Elder ilvl85+ Exquisite and Vaal Axe Elder bases for the Fortify support.

Yup, can't compete with skills that can clear and move at the same time.
It's kind of why I felt that bows and ED/Contagion would remain meta despite the heavy emphasis on Melee since they can kill things off screen despite having to stop moving for a brief moment to attack. ED/Contagion never got nerfed, and some of the new mechanics/passive changes introduced can apply to bows giving them more options (of course Deadeye can still be used) on top of no real nerfs other than bugs affecting skills.

Cyclone being able to get AoE the size of a screen while still moving is practically Storm Brand tier in terms of mechanics, though.

I really hate how random the trials are in maps. Got two characters to 80 and I've only got 4 done, seen two of them like 5 different times each.

Edit: Complaining helps. Just found one of the two I'm missing.

What maps do you folk generally shape? I'm never sure which ones to go for - I've used this in the past (it's been updated for 3.7) but I wondered if anyone had any other resources.

Ever since a few leagues ago, the Atlas gets reshuffled and new league mechanics means new shape strategies.

Pre Tier 10 maps Shaping doesn't matter that much unless going for a specific low tier farming strategy like Burial Chambers, Channel etc. You generally just shape the map you like running the most and then once you have beaten Shaper you have to really thing about which map you want to use your Elder Orb on (which turns a map into tier 16 for max rewards).

I am personally currently running Shaped Dune for a variety of reasons (tier 13 shaped map). It's an open layout which makes using Cyclone and farming the Legion mechanic very lucrative. It drops the Earth Drinker divination card along with a couple of other nice Div cards for extra profit and the boss isn't behind a loading screen/door so I can go into it with full on kill buffs and just destroy it. The major downside to Shaped Dunes is that it requires mostly yellow sextants around it which increases the cost of running it.

My Elder Map is going to be some map that is surrounded by white maps (for white sextants) and is an open/easy layout. Most probably going to be CIty Square but we'll see. Close to killing the Shaper now, have killed the Guardians but just need a couple of items on my character before attempting it.

So I thought it’d be more apparent because of the melee hype but it doesnt seem like it’s on the radar: is there a reason Elder 2h maces are actually garbage?

It feels like they just forgot to enable the phys dmg/gem hybrids for maces, but because noone uses them it was never an issue.

Seems really weird. I get that there should be weapon differences, but the gap is too wide in regards to that.

Elder 2H Maces can't roll "Socketed gems are supported by Fortify" and that makes them like .... so much inferior to Axes and Swords that can roll that stat. No idea why this is excluded for Maces definitely seems like an after thought.

Just shape maps you like and/or have good cards
Also avoid RMT sites

Thanks. I've only just got the first orb (I have shitty luck getting the maps I need and I prefer to try to work my way to them rather than buy them) but I'll keep these in mind.

As for that site, it's not something I use. Just searched which maps to shape and that's the first hit.

Not really sure where to go with my gear, I probably need to craft a shield but I've got no idea what I'm doing with that. I generally try to see what other people are doing but it doesn't seem like many people are playing physical SST Deadeye.

I'll keep that in mind if I end up getting fed up. My 4th point doesn't mean much for this build, it seems.

Just follow Raiz's SST build.

Other than that, follow some folks on POE Ninja:

4 people lvls 93-100 using the skill with Deadeye and pure Physical.

Seems like they are all using Lioneye's Chest with Prismatic Eclipse main hand. Prismatic Eclipse for the global attack speed increase and Lioneye's for the 7th link with Pierce.

I have been, that's where I got the idea. I don't get why he uses pierce though. SST specifically says it can't pierce and the damage isn't really anything. I have been checking poe.ninja too, even looking at the gear the Glads are using. Just seems kind of all over.

The shards are the ones that pierce (not the initial projectil) and that's where your main clear comes from. And they are also the ones that benefit the most from Pierce so it makes sense.

My main clear is the shield bouncing, it bounces 7 times before exploding. The explosion isn't really seeming that important.

That just means you are hitting like 7 enemies in a pack. There are more enemies than 7 in a pack if you are only hitting 7 targets, it's the explosion that's really going to do the clean up. Especially with the unique threshold jewel which causes explosions WHILE chaining which means every time you chain you are also exploding (so 7 explosions).

Yeah I'm only hitting 7 but I attack multiple times a second. I guess the confusion is that I don't see another person using it. None of the Deadeyes are spec'd in to Powerful Precision either.

Because all the Deadeye's are using Lioneye's chest which gives Pierce as a support. Nullifying a reason to get the Pierce nodes on the Ascendancy and instead go for Fast and Deadly. That doesn't make Pierce itself bad for SST, it just makes it redundant at that point when you are already supporting it with Pierce support.

I didn't notice the chest gave it, though in my defense two of the ones I had been looking at the most both had generic chests and no pierce. My bad. Maybe I'll aim for a Lioneyes' but I need to get a shield with more armor, using Lioneyes' Remorse and I'm betting 1700 isn't going to cut it much longer.

Need at least 2000 armor shield and as close to 3000 as possible for good damage. You can get one of those Colossal shields and throw Dense fossils at it then craft some %armour, might put you over the top.

I was actually trying to check poedb.tw to see how to do it (the site seems busted though), I knew dense was part of it but I wasn't sure if it was just that. I'll give it a shot, trading for fossils is the worst though.

Click on Dense fossils to see which stats remain and what you are likely to get. For best rolls you want an i86 shield. Dense fossils give better chance to roll armor values and even the quality mod (which also increases armour).

I would use Dense fossils Plus Elemental fossils if available. Best case is if you can get Shaper i86 Colossal shield so you can hit +max res mods.

Damn, got a 1900 armor one I should have stuck with. 20 overpriced fossils down and I barely get over 1300.

I will start my Spectral Shield Throw character, will level with bows up until the jewel threshold
On POE Ninja that Dahbomb linked, there's a guy at lvl 94 with a tabula. I love that attitude.

That's what I did, except I got the jewel socket on top of the ranger start and then respec'd out of those nodes once I got the one below duelist that way I could level with SST right at 12.

Edit: Like that https://poeplanner.com/ABEAAB0AEQIAAAuv6wHRokD0-KEixKKXBhmKwzqbtYTFAAAAAAA= then I just followed RaizQT's tree as normal, respeccing all that stuff once I hit the other jewel socket.

Nearly at Act 8. I'm playing Frost Blades Gladiator and smashing shit, my gear is pretty solid right now. It has been a solid year since I last played so there's so much new stuff. I caved and dropped £50 on the Pit Fighter Pack, I was sick of looking shit, feels overpriced but oh well.

I'm enjoying SST so much that once I get to 90 with this character I might try one of the other builds.

If there is one word you can use to describe the MTX in PoE it is "overpriced".

Yup, everything feels like it's twice the price it should be, it doesn't feel like value for money at all, so I'd be less inclined to spend more in the future, whereas I've spent like £400 on Warframe and it felt like a fair trade, plus you can earn their premium currency just by playing. I've supported plenty of F2P games in the past but PoE really sticks out for me as taking the piss.

Damnit, didn't realize the map mods changed when you did different map/same tier on the map device. Just blew myself up to reflect.

Yep. The grand majority of money I've spent, somewhere around $70, has been because I needed tabs. Yeah, you don't NEED to spend money but doing endgame stuff without some of those tabs is a nightmare. I would have spent a ton more on this game but every time I look at the cosmetics I'm like I want it but not that much. I was looking at the pack you bought and again it was like... "I could use those points for more tabs...." as if I'm trying to justify it.

Legion Improvements
  • Improved the visibility of the Legion Symbols that appear above monsters and chests that contain rewards.
  • Added an effect that is placed on your character while you are near the activation crystal in the Domain of Timeless Conflict.
  • Legion Monsters can now be Frozen and their corpses can be destroyed after being broken out from their crystals.
  • Legion Chests can now be affected by curses.
  • Re-enabled the Stygian Vise reward from Abyss rewards.
  • Reduced the range at which various Legion monsters will become aggressive.
  • Fixed a bug where the Brutal Restraint unique Timeless Jewel was not able to drop in the Domain of Timeless Conflict.

I've spent about 70 bucks on PoE, and about 30 of that has been cosmetics. Every league I have about three tabs I don't use. I'd call the cost to play the endgame more than fair personally.

However

The MTX costs are fucking absurd. It's like 30 bucks for a helmet, no thanks.

They are expensive. I usually just go with the supporter packs when I can afford it and buy skill effects etc when stuff is on sale.

Headhunter now currently more expensive than a Mirror of Kalandra.

Cool I guess.

Probably still too low for this league. This is probably the peak demand of HH in POE because of the 5 way Legion conflict works. I expect once more people learn about it the higher the price for a HH becomes.

Meanwhile the Maraketh jewel prices are predictably crashing.
