Era is a pretty console-centric forum, for the most part. I always see people talk about PC gamers as some other entity/enemy that is completely removed from the console space. This doesn't ring true in my experience, everybody I know who plays on PC also has a PS4 and Switch at least. I own a base ps4, pro, one s, and a switch as well. Just because I prefer to play on PC doesn't mean I don't play on consoles. Sometimes I get online games for ps4 because that's where my friends are playing, Sony exclusives are great so I play those of course, nintendo exclusives too. To me it seems like anybody enough of an enthusiast to drop stacks on a nice PC are big enough fans of great games that they'll end up owning all the platforms by the end of a generation.

This got me curious if my experience is purely anecdotal, so I figured I'd throw a poll up. I'm just tired of seeing a bunch if spiteful "you PC gamers blah blah" I'm a console gamer too, the shit just comes across so childish.

Yeah. My best gaming buddy prefers PS4, so if it's a multiplayer focused game then I tend to get it on console for that reason. Otherwise I pick something up on PC if it's available. I wish Sony would play nice with cross-play, so that I could play with them while playing on PC myself. It feels silly to be playing something on PS4 when I have a beefy AF desktop.

Consoles for exclusives, but for ps5 I will wait if Sony will bring their games to pc, even if take 1-2years I prefer to wait to play with 60 fps.

At the moment only PC and Switch

I do. For exclusives mainly, but the newer games don't run well on my laptop, so until I buy a new one, I mainly play on console.

I also like owning consoles since I can play games on them when I need to wait for Windows Update, which for whatever reason, can take half a day sometimes. Crossplay/cross-progression is a godsend in times like these.

My brother in law has a high end rig, but he also owns a PS4 Slim and a Switch for exclusives/pick up and play.

I've been almost pc only for the past 8 years, too many games to play to even bother with other platforms. Exclusives don't really sway me all that much.

Recently got a ps4 base to play some of the Yakuza games not out on PC yet. Got a Switch Light but bounced HARD off of it and returned it within 90 minutes.

My PC is basically a dedicated Oculus and SteamVR machine at this point, but I wouldn't ditch it because the Rift S blows away my PSVR.

I've been ramping down quite a lot, but I still play Beat Saber with the PS VR so I'll have to answer yes. My console exit will happen next gen when I will leave the PS5 and Xbox Series X unbought.

Yeah, mostly exclusives
Also use them for quality ports. eg. I could emulate certain arcade shmups, but, for example, the M2 ShotTrigger ports are just so damn good and feature-rich.

Not any more, no. I grew up on console, but it doesn't seem worth it for me.

PC in 90% of use cases. PS4 for Sony exclusives and Switch for all the exclusives that I like the look of and the multiplats that I want to play away from my PC.

I still own a console primarily for fighting games. PC releases are often late, non-existent, or just terrible ports. Crossplay is never guaranteed and majority of the online playerbase will be on console. Even when crossplay exists, it may not function all that well.

I've got a PS4 and a Switch, the former I barely use anymore and the Switch is my JRPG/weeb haven.

PC + PS4.

90% PC, 10% PS4.

Bought my PS4 Pro + Red Dead Redemption 2, as a reward to myself after a grueling project at work was released.

Have since bought a couple of sports games, The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus on disc (both of which that in their plastic wrapping stil), Ace Combat 7 (got it for $10 through a friend), and then PSVR + a bunch of games.

PSVR is the highlight for me of those. Astrobot is just brilliant, and I'm looking forward to try out Blood & Truth.

Have had some thoughts about buying a Switch as well, but haven't gotten around to it.

But PC is the no 1 platform for me. I just find it to be such more suited to my taste of games, and as a platform it's just so much more interesting then consoles.

Yes, I'm pretty evenly split between PC/consoles. I prefer my PC though. It's a bit up and down, time wise, depending on how many exclusives hit PS4/Switch that interest me.

Yes. I own a PS4 Pro and play on Switch as well. Given a multiplatform game I will pretty much always take the PC version due to higher res, better framerates and better controls. Not to mention cheaper games!

With each console generation the graphics gap becomes narrower. I'd say current gen's best titles have been almost on par visually to the most impressive games on PC but at half the framerate. I bought Death Stranding for PS4 Pro because I expect the PC version won't look significantly better. With PS5 I expect graphics and hopefully framerate to no longer be much of a deciding factor. If consoles manage to get on the gyro aim train then controls will not be an issue either. I already play most games on Steam Controller.

I play on PC or Switch, but I own a PS4 and if an exclusive is really really good, I will get a game for that console

According to my year in review from PlayStation, the only game I played this year was 10 hours of Spider-Man.

Yes. I think of myself primarily as a PC gamer but I also own a Switch, a PS4 Pro and an Xbox One X.

Only for exclusives and sometimes Switch indies. Most games are cheaper on PC + look and perform better to boot.

I have every current console but going forward I might only get Nintendo consoles. Very few PlayStation exclusives I'm interested in and all Xbox games are coming to pc anyway.

I actually prefer my PSVR over my Rift. My Pro was almost exclusively used for PSVR in 2019...and Iceborne until it's recent PC release. Oh yeah and the Switch is a great party machine.

I voted no, but I forgot about the Switch I guess. I don't play games on Playstation or Xbox. I find them to be a miserable experience tbh, never bothered to go with the pro models or anything. Playing primary stuff on my PC then I play smaller stuff on my Switch Lite

I have a Pro and 3 games on it, one being GT Sport. I bought a 360 for Forza.

It's a waste of plastic though as I don't put much in. I was one of the people championing Forza to PC since 2008.

I answered no, but I've always been into Nintendo handhelds. They cover two completely opposite parts of the gaming spectrum in my mind. They are the only console type gaming devices I'll ever consider owning.

The reason why I still said no is that in the past few years even that has died down a fair bit. I brought a Switch, which so far I've only ever used in handheld mode. It's been fine but gathers dust most of the time. I can see myself not bothering in the future and going for a more open ARM device to use as an emu box and Steam Link, or something like the GPD Win.

Generally closed, garden wall, type ecosystems turn me off entirely. Not to mention now every console platform owner now makes people pay for online.

I play on pretty much everything. My Xbox gets used the least, especially now that there's so much content on Game Pass for Windows. I really only boot that up when friends on there want to play.

No.

I have thought about owning a Switch so that I can play Indie games on the couch. Ultimately, I'm not interested in buying a product that will be obsolete in a few years time. I don't like being shafted when a new SKU comes out either.

Absolutely. When I buy consoles it's for the exclusives and that makes the PS4 one of the best gaming purchases for me. It's been an amazing generation just because of those single-player exclusives games. Can't say I got my fill of those on PC, at least not in that quality.

I have them all (PS4, XB1, Switch) but they are sitting there collecting dust. If games supported keyboard and mouse, I'd definitely play on them.
