STEAM | May 2018 - The only thread to get a 24 hour ban

I don't understand what's going on. We didn't get any input in this at all, and we're somehow supposed to be okay with how things are going. I still don't get why any of this happened here in the first place.
Power tripping mods, with a complete disregard for the community.

So, same story as GAF.

Finally we are back up and running.

This'll be the only post I make on the topic, but just wanted to make a reply to this:

We will take steps to improve the quality of PC gaming discussion on the forum, including paying greater attention to low effort drive by posting and cracking down on piracy complaints in threads about legitimate emulation.
While I don't like how the whole thing was treated, at all. If this is the result then that's a good thing at least. I hope those things actually do get cracked down on and it isn't just lip service.

Wonder if XSEED will look at the Brandish game, now that they are done with bringing all the Ys games. I assume the PSP versions specifically would make the most sense.

I feel like I'm missing some context from the OP post? What is he referring to in his starting message?

Anyway, I have a PC, I always played on PC. But now I'm doing it mainly from my couch. Anyone else mainly playing PC on his couch?

I notice most games support this configuration (Except Battletech :-( ), so the industry is slowing moving towards mandating controller for all games, awesome!!

Joined the discord to see what was going on with the thread and pretty much immediately got kicked. Why?

People kept shitting up Steam threads with comments about Valve not making games, making hats, etc. Mods protected them because 'Steam is not a hardware platform, it's a service'. People in the Steam threads were obviously annoyed by people shitting up the thread. When they told the shit posters where to go, they got banned instead of the drive-by shit posters.

I play on PC only on my TV, it’s been working well so far! I stick to mostly controller games but keyboard and mouse is still doable when it comes to it.

You can probably use the Steam Controller which is for situations such as those.

So I have to ask: What is the official mod stance about people derailing every Valve or Steam related thread with drive-by posts, memes and general shitposting?

I mean, the only thing people asked was a stop for that before the moderation talked about how Steam wasn't a platform so general shitposting was allowed and then someone not from the thread came to the thread and shitposted so much administration closed the thread.

Getting out of lurker mode to I really appreciate all the work you have done over the years on the Steam/PC threads MRORANGE.

To people trying to understand the message in the op, is probably best to read the last post from the locked Steam thread:
STEAM | April 2018 - AAA Big Hole

The situation is a little frustrating, but I think the best of course of action is to give a fair shot and see if things really get better.

Thank you for the thread as always (under some duress this time!),MRORANGE- much appreciated, mate, as is all of your great work across so many threads here. Perfectly understood if you want to pass on the baton.

Plenty of time to sort this out one way or another, of course, but the rejig has obvious implications for the Steam GOTY award - Windows 10 store exclusives are on the way to shake things up.

If you don't play your PC games on a 25 year old 386 then I don't even want to talk to you

man that thing looks 90s expensive
It was actually really ahead of its time. It released in 1987 and was pricey, but super powerful. It was the first real way you could get arcade perfect (or close) games at home in Japan. Capcom even used it for development before testing on arcade hardware.

Also it had loads of expansion slots to improve the CPU, the sound chip, etc.

Thanks MRORANGE for all the threads and work you've done. Always enjoyed these threads and the Steam community here and at the old place.

You haven't played on PC unless you've used the same graphic cards for 11 years.

Voodoo 3 FTW.

If it means that retro Japanese PC gaming discussion will have wider exposure on Era and potentially attract new faces, that alone will make this new thread setup worthwhile.

The scary thing about this post is that 11 years ago we were using the 8800GT. When I first read this I was thinking, yeah the Voodoo 3 was probably like 11 years ago. Obviously. Time moves fast.

Oh Great... the thread barely started and I'm already feeling old because of all these "modern" computers and games people are posting... (started playing on really crappy PC-Jr).

There was a thread in offtopic like that recently. As I've mentioned there, 80s will be "20 years ago" for me probably until I die.

Dang, it also looks ahead of its time. I’m surprised it released in the 80s, my 386 looked like a total piece of junk.

As a PC exclusive player at this point in my life - I'm just glad this thread is back, and I don't care what it's called. Still feels like home to me. The name change seems to have already broadened discussion a bit, and should dissuade shit-posting from non-regulars. Thank you for everything, MRORANGE

Time to keep plugging away in Witcher 3. 37 hours in, and I haven't even gotten to Skellige yet. Can't decide if it's a smart idea to pay off the boat captain 1,000 crowns or to wait for an alternative method to pop up. 1,000 crowns is too steep for my blood rn.
