Thanks for the links Mascot. I was able to get some cars and tracks I didn't previously have, but unfortunately I couldn't find the Baltimore GP track. I'm not surprised it hasn't been done since the street circuit was only used for a couple years but also would have thought someone would have made it since it's an Indycar track.

Sucks not being able to race and use my new Sprint pedals until Monday night. Yes it's partially my fault for not doing research beforehand to make sure I had the proper hardware to mount them to 8020 profile. Not sure why they use M5 when pretty much everything else I've ever dealt with uses M6 and M8. I overnighted some M5 t-nuts from tnutz.com Thursday morning (based in New York) as I couldn't find anything local or anywhere else to be honest that I could get quickly. Paid an ass load of $$$ for next day air shipping and guess what? They didn't ship the package till yesterday and it won't arrive till Monday some time. I've emailed them twice asking what happened and if I can get my money back for the shipping fee but with not much of answer so far.

Sorry for the rant!

ACC News:

The Intercontinental GT Series has been confirmed as an expansion package.

Apparently, all tracks have been laser scanned and the 5 tracks from the series are:

Mt Panorama, Bathurst.
Laguna Seca, Monterey.
Spa-Francaorchamps, Stavelot.
Suzuka Circuit, Suzuka.
Kyalami GP Circuit, Midrand.

Talk is a December 20th release on Reddit which is where the following pictures were posted.

brazil, unfortunately
I know F1 2019 is not a proper simracing material, but I'm having a blast with it. The races are very dynamic, the ai is amazing and the graphics are awesome.

of course it doesn't have the best physics in the world neither the most realistic car reactions, but it's still a very good 'simcade' to have play and have some fun.

Enjoy whatever takes your fancy.

Who cares if it's a sim or not - most people wouldn't know how accurate the sims they drive actually are.

Edit - case in point:

I've driven the car in rF2; it's a lovely 3D model with shite sounds and terrible tyres that overheat like butter in a hot pan. The reviewer thinks the car is amazing.

Simracing604 is a super nice guy and I enjoy most of his content, but he says every mod is amazing. Regardless if it really is or not.

I agree. I think it gets unreasonably bashed by many within the sim community.

I've bashed their early F1 releases on PC as they were full of bugs that should not have made it past QA testing. I recall one year Shaneus and I bought an F1 release (might have been F1 2013), and it took 13 patches to get some form of playable state before CM stopped support.
The CM F1 games have always been excellent entertainment & much like the MotoGP series, immersion trumps slavish attempts to create 100% realistic car and tyre physics.

Woah, that's a blast from the past. I think the problem (was 2012 IIRC) I had was that I couldn't get dual GPUs/Crossfire working at all with the game. But so many other bugs too, I think with weather and pitstops and... pretty much everything. It's literally one of my most "played" games on Steam, but that was purely troubleshooting.

I developed an irrational dislike of the head of F1 development (Steve Hood?) at the time because of his responses to (justifiably?) rabid customers at the state of the game.

That's a lot of patches. That sounds like the last version that used Live? I remember that shitty version would crash a ton for people (including me). The only sure-fire way to ensure you wouldn't crash while loading a race was to not have the Live service running. Except that meant you couldn't race online or have any save data for single-player. What a dumpster fire. And of course this was before refunds were a thing, so Steam told me to go sit and spin. You touched it, you bought it. Last Codemasters game I ever bought at full price. Rest of my purchases have been heavily discounted since.

No Live involved, just a terribly unfinished product that PC users were the QA team for the console patches as well as PC fixes.

I think it might have been the release where the players tyres fell apart and the AI's didn't and the qualification was based on lookup tables that didn't reflect the conditions. I think there was another bug based on frame rates too.

It was a total shite show and as Shaneus stated, the CM dev team were scrambling for answers to pissed off consumers.

CM make great games when they work. The last good product was the previous Grid game which no-one bought.

I do recall many posts asking what if Bizarre Creations (RIP) had the licence instead of CM?

I think Good knew CM had pulled a shonk and tried to smooth things over with lies. Not played an F1 game since but I read things are slightly better. The current CM ploy of seasonal DLC sucks

You just jogged my memory. I remember reading about that. I refused to buy it, because I felt so burned the previous year.

You know it's a shit show when it's the only version they no longer sell on Steam:

Haha!
CM used the "expired licence" clause to pull it from sale. I wonder why every other version is available :)
GRID Autosport remains my favorite CM game of recent years.

GRID Autosport remains my favorite CM game of recent years.
I bought it in mid 2014, I think in a dirt-cheap summer sale, because I had my T500 new and wanted to try the classic F1 cars (maybe the classic ads on the viewable car models have expired?!? It might be a not entirely made-up reason).

Back then I had very little idea about how good FFB feels or what difference in vehicle dynamics there should be between modern and old F1 cars, but I definitely remember it feeling and driving pretty crappy.

Grid Autosport was amazing, but it deserved a more polished work on the hendling of the cars. How's the new version, BTW? I see no buzz about it...
I don't think many people bought it. Jimmy B and GM said it plays good with a wheel. Especially Jimmy usually prefers to play the more arcady games with a controller. Consensus on the handling seems that it's pretty fun. Most common complain is that the progression feels very grindy early on (after 4 hours even) and it's due to the event structure, the missing driver career (it's nothing cinematic) and most of all the low amount of tracks.

I also found this comparison review with the original Grid pretty interesting (posted by RingRang in the OT):

Looks like my cup of tea. I don't care much about all that flashiness, and the gameplay looks fun, a nice mix of arcade and simulation. And I like grindy racing games, but the career feels dead indeed. Plus, the short number os tracks is disappointing.

The 911 (993) Turbo is out!

Physics by Jason Coates (aphidgod)
Sounds by Mr. Mike (ImImike)
3D model and textures by a3dr

Based off a3dr's stock 993 (https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/nfs-tournament-class-b.20228/) here's the Turbo version, includes a souped up S2 version with a RUF engine, custom suspension and minor cosmetic changes.

Can't wait to drive this tonight if I (hopefully) get my new pedals installed.

I think this review sums up the reboot of Grid: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/...ot-like-the-original-for-better-and-for-worse
Within its fairly meagre course selection - there are some four city tracks and eight traditional tracks, although between them they do offer some 82 different routes - there's a lot of repetition and recycling, to the point where at times this feels more like a remaster than a reboot.
Grid unlike Autosport, appears to be a game ripe for the usual CM DLC antics. Most reviewers complained about the lack of tracks and tiresome career mode which is why people have not bought it. You're also going to need a really great CPU and GPU combo to play Grid at ultra settings according to DSOG. Autosport runs on very affordable hardware and looks pretty good too.

The s2 version of this car is just proper insane. Just.. unbeliveable. Try it on ANY track, long and winding or tight and twisty. Such a blast to drive manual!

Fanatec Black Friday offerings (from Black Friday to Cyber Monday):

  • CSL Elite Pro Kit - Officially Licensed for PS4™ at 699.95 € (Europe only)
  • ClubSport Pedals V3 + Brake Performance Kit at 299,95 €/$
  • ClubSport Shifter SQ V1.5 Limited Edition 2019 for 259,95 €/ 199,95 $

And starting on Friday they will offer 5 new wheel rims (just rims, the "addons" for universal/podium hub).
[I think 3 of them are not really new, just replacements of basically the same wheel they were offering before]

The upgrade from a beat-up TH8A to a new SQ V1.5 is not worth it, or? I think I'd rather wait for a Podium Series Shifter.

I love my SQv1.5 (also coming from a -modded- TH8A) but I bought it hardly used for around £100, I think.
Is there any news about this new Podium shifter?

No, I just heard Thomas say in a sim racing expo interview that they plan to offer a version of their main products (wheelbase, rim, pedals, shifter) in each of their 3 product groups (CSL, Clubsport, Podium):

should start at 10:02

As someone who doesn't always get on with Porsche cars, this mod is nice, the car is fun to drive and is predictable (no snap oversteer). Good stuff.

The car was apparently released too early with incomplete physics - much to the surprise of aphidgod, who was still working on them.
The 'proper' release should be even better.

!!!!2019-11-27 RELEASED!!! Touring Car Legends 18 car Mod Pack v1.0
The Goodwood Revival St Mary's trophy was our muse... This mod represents the Historic Touring Car Legends Mod, covering a number of legendary touring cars of the 60's and 70's. It started as a little side project but it turned out to a full mod pack containing 18 different cars. Our goal was to use a realistic physics set, with as much real data as possible. This means that most cars have unique 'build from scratch' suspension physics, engines and gearbox. We tried to reproduce the vehicle dynamics of the era, so you do need to balance the cars and be gently with your weight transfers, else you will be fighting inertia big time. Despite the big difference between the cars you can actually race them very closely, depending on tracktype, the (dis)advantages per car will be magnified. Enjoy the battle!
Happy Thanksgiving and May the downforce be with you!

Bazza's GT and Proto mods are some of the best, can't wait to try this out. Strangely, I remember having the RX3 from this pack a long time ago, and if the rest are as good (if not better), then this is going to be epic. I'm so glad I can crank up the grid numbers on my new pc.

You'll probably find that you already have nearly all of these cars, but install them all anyway (as fresh installations). They've all been updated, but the version numbers on a lot of them haven't been altered (which is a pet peeve of mine - I hate it when modders don't take five seconds to do this).

I don't wish to alarm anyone, but I drove 4 sprint races in ACC last night and actually enjoyed myself.

TJP I feel that AA has been much improved. However, I don't recall Kunos ever mentioning doing so, so perhaps the latest NVidia drivers magically fixed it?

Good to know it's improved as I was losing hope. I might have to reinstall ACC now :)

Is this worth a new thread? Also, Rushy:
* Worked at Evo
* Evo disbanded
* Most staff picked up by Codies, create OnRush
* OnRush flops, they ditch Rushy
* Rushy joins SMS
* Codies buys SMS

wtf

Edit: This tweet is perfect:

The actual game got solid reviews - 77/100 on average - however CM/Deep Silver priced the game way too high, didn't market it and that's why it sold poorly.

Games such as Blur, Split/Second and OnRush seemingly do not have a market to sell to as none of them had enough sales to hold off closures or sackings and all three were solid games.

It'll also be interesting to see what the union brings; hopefully we all benefit.

Edit: some of the comments on RD are very much on point - "So Project Cars 3 will have 6 tracks with PCARS 2 tracks added later as premium DLC".

No wonder some cars in pCARS feel like shite and others less so: https://www.racedepartment.com/thre...ght-by-codemasters.175927/page-4#post-3078465

Yup. Though I wonder if they recompiled the game with a new build of UE4 and that's where the improved AA came from? Or it's some other PP effect? Either way, I just drove Paul Ricard (the worst aliasing offender) without millions of pixels flickering before my eyes.

Jesus, that handling bug is insane. I'd wager that since they found it, they've fixed it for Automodellista 2 given they're using that engine?
