Just remake the fucking thing and gimme my anime cutscenes back.

The best Persona game deserves much better treatment than this.

I don't like P3P, but I bought it right when it released on Steam just to see what mods can do to bring it as close to FES as possible so not touching it until mods start rolling out. I don't mind them porting P3P over FES since it is a cheap port and having party control and FeMC can be more appealing to newer fans especially since they been pushing FeMC more in marketing the last few years. Plus, I am pretty sure P3P's internal coding is closer to P4G which likely made it much easier to port. If a remake is on the horizon, makes even more sense that they would go with P3P as it was the easier and cheaper of the two options, but they need to ensure the remake truly is the definitive edition with the FeMC, party control, The Answer, MC being able to use more weapons, new cutscenes for both protags, etc.

They've already "remastered" the P3P version, why would they want to remake that? The remake should be based on the FES version with an FeMC option plus party control.

I really wish they combined FES with this. I'd love the FeMC playthrough, but I have a real hard time with more abstracted visuals of the portable Atlus games. I'll get this eventually. Just not sure on what system ...

That is basically what I said. The remake should take elements from both FES and P3P to make a definitive version since both FES and P3P have elements that is not in the other version.

Not surprising. It's a PSP port that didn't even get the animated cutscenes from the original PS2 release afaik. Not saying that it doesn't have any value because P3P was one of the best PSP titles back in the day, but it's a game that never quite achieved the same level of popularity Persona 4 and Persona 5 did and the port barely adds anything to make it more appealing.

I adored my play thru of Persona 3 Portable on my Vita years ago, but I can't really imagine the appeal of playing it on a PC in 2023. Probably would be better off just emulating that FES version on PCSX2.

If I had any interest in playing this port, the Switch or Xbox via remote play on my phone would be the way to go.

P3 is in an obviously awkward spot with the FES/P3P split. I don't think this type of project even needs to really be a list topper to have been worth getting out there, but ultimately the game really just needs a definitive remake.

Remake is pretty far along last I saw but so was 6. Last I heard, summer reveal.

With 3 games in dev, I'm still shocked they keep cancelling/changing reveal timing with events/press.

I' ve already played through this 80 hours game two times.
I own the original on PS2 and on PSP.

Honestly I didn't even know P3P came out until this thread - and I try to stay on top of the ole release schedule! Feels like it released with no fanfare outside its original announcement.

But yeah, they really needed to give this one more special treatment. P3 is still without a definitive version.

Just wondering - do you have visibility into games they're going to be making in the future (such as games in the planning phase but not really having full resources put to development yet) or just games that are nearing completion?

Quick save is atrocious, when you use it, it takes you directly to the main menu and if you use "Continue" option (it's used to load a quick save) then your quick save gets deleted. I don't get it.

That's what a quick save is. The game isn't designed around the player being able to save mid-dungeon, but the quick save option exists just in case you really need to stop playing right away and can't get to a save point.

Not surprised at all. It has vn elements and it looks most poorly aged from them all. People downplaying P3 fame in this thread is a bit sad, a lot of people will say it or 4 was peak. That has nothing to do with numbers. Also I dont thin kthat many people would knwo about remake rumour to warrant low numbers.

Not surprising, I don't think P3(P) has anywhere near the same amount of mindshare and <3 that P4(G) has.

I've just started my first playthrough, since I never played this game before. But I'm not bumping numbers on Steam since I chose to play it on my OLED Switch.

I actually have the PSP version on my Vita and it's been on there for years and years, I just never got around to playing it. But now's the time, only I'm playing the remaster on Switch.

Should have ported FES , even with all the extra content and quality of life changes in P3P it isn't worth losing the 3D scenes over.

Still it sounds like we're getting a proper remake anyway so I'm sure plenty of people will play that.

I was always surprised how so many seemed to think that P3P would gain more traction with these rerelease than P4G.
Sure, it's not the first port for P4G, but it just fits better on modern platforms compared to P3P which was very limited by the PSP and none of those limitations have been adressed. I'm sure the rumors of a remake aren't helping, but most outside our little video game enthousiast bubble probably aren't aware of that.

You are right, it really is a similar system to the one they used for Nocturne and P4G, iirc; what i'm asking is more in the line of a save anywhere, like pretty much every recent JRPG uses, but that's something we'll probably see in the remake.

We have the P3 remake rumors around and after watching a couple of video reviews of this game, this game does not look good at all, compared to Persona 4 Golden which has great reviews and has people motivated to buy it.

Looks like P3 in general has not aged that well, and bringing us a port of the portable version which looks very outdated was not a clever idea to be honest. I don't know about the content of FES and P3P, maybe the content in P3P is better for what I have heard, but the output seems to be a very low-effort port.

Unfortunate news, but if I wanted to play P3P on PC, I'd rip the UMD and emulate it. Or, better yet, FES.

Couldn't do that with P4G, and it was a great port, so I bought it. It would be the game for P5R if it wasn't for Game Pass.

I guess the take-home is 'don't release shit on PC that the community can do themselves'.

It's hard to see any value in this thing unless you're already invested, and probably played it before. I bought it out of curiosity and don't think I'll ever touch it again. It's just a low quality rerelease.

I mean, it makes sense.

It's an old ass game with no definitive version on top of it. Also, P5 was dropped not long ago, which is much more enticing for most people as it's newer, looks and plays way better.

Just as with Yakuza, the more modern games just do better than the old ones, despite the older ones having more recent release dates.

Persona 3 is one of my favorite games of all time and I haven't bought it on Steam. Can't say I'm terribly excited to play the PSP version on a big screen.

I'll pick it up dirt cheap during a sale. And I'll devour the fuck out the remake when it comes out.

It's a handheld port of a PS2 JRPG/VN, released on the Switch (PS4, Series X, and gamepass). I really doubt most of the playerbase is on pc.

I'm in the boat where Persona 3 is my least favourite entry in the series (the Persona 2 Duology is my favourite), and I would rather wait for a definite version of Persona 3 where the content of FES and Portable were included in one tight package, along with getting a new English voice cast and having a host of QoL changes to the gameplay to match it up with Persona 5: Royal in some aspects.

Remake is pretty far along last I saw but so was 6. Last I heard, summer reveal.

With 3 games in dev, I'm still shocked they keep cancelling/changing reveal timing with events/press.

I once had to work with an South Korean studio on a mobile spin-off project, where the director and producers had made increasingly esoteric decisions at every turn, so Altus is similar in that regard. Really, the higher ups go by the beat of their own brainwaves and will do things that goes against common sense.

Some might find that aspect charming, but it only causes friction on the whole project.
