Okay, since the games has been out for awhile, here is a question...hopefully it wont be too hard to awnser:
I beat the original, loved it.....is this just a remake? or is there an actual reason why you have to start over again? Velvet room shennanigans or what not? spoiler tag if neccessary.
if it is just a remake, then I find it bizzarre that there are no signs of Kasumi in the mosou game that is being treated as a sequel.

It's an enhanced version ala Persona 3 FES/Portable and Persona 4 Golden. Kasumi isn't in Scramble most likely because the games were developed to close together. If there's another game I think it's likely Kasumi will be there.

Wont be able to get this day one thanks to COVID spendatures but will get it down the line, I wanna see how much of the story gets changed, Plus more playable characters = more fun!
Was initially going to pass on this, but the reviews convinced me to go back to it. I'll probably put it down for a while when RE3 and FF7 come out, but I'm willing to take my time and am still looking forward to it.
It'll be nice to jump back in. I didn't finish the original but got pretty close. Mainly other things getting in the way.
I might play with Japanese VA this go around since I did English the first time despite quite liking the dub.

I adore the original so much but I won't be jumping into P5R for a good while (only just finished it and nothing gets in the way of the FF7 train) . Loving the memes though :)
you're asking me to choose between my kids. FF7 wins as it's such a huge game in my life and the original will always be my GOAT, but P5 vanilla is my second favourite game. It's a win/win for you :)

There are so many i expected from OT title. It can be: Persona 5 R OT| We Live in a Society as an example
If I could've played the new content with a NG+ save after beating original 90+ hours I buy day one. As is tho I'm going to wait on a $20 sale, which may take a year or so idk. Wish new content was separate like The Answer but get that P4G made it so the remake route was best

I liked the pun someone made above though: wake up, get up, (don't) get out there... I actually think persona 5 might be one of the most ideal games to play atm: lot of time to pass, virtual tourism and socialising...

Why the pin & card can't just be part of the LE, I dunno. But I don't get either since I got it from Best Buy & don't even know if I'll get the $10.

Yeah, I pre-ordered the LE from Amazon. It doesn't say anywhere that it comes with the Collector Card, but I'm hoping it's just an overlook since it seems to be a pre-order bonus.
JP version didn't have enough character spaces for Ren's full name so I just went with Ren Aya. This time I'll take the dive and go full meme, Ren Ayaya.

I always go with my favorite Japanese actor for the Persona series, Takashi Shimura. Always feels weird for me to have an American name with the Japanese setting.
So hyped to play this again. I can't wait for the soundtrack and greatness to wash over me and make the insanity going on in the world melt away.
It's depressing to say, but real world events have sort of dampened my excitement for games in general. Sad because P5 is one of my favourite games ever and I've been really hyped for this.

I named my characrer Vincent Kurosawa. Kuro means dark, sawa means river. And vincent feels so appropriate with his facade features
How long will it take for their to be good walkthroughs for this?
I bought P5 at launch and really, really enjoyed it. I'm in my 30s so I don't have unlimited time anymore and I found a good walkthrough to "max all social links on one play through" that was pretty much spoiler free but made sure you could see everything. Made it through the first dungeon after tenish hours or whatever and didn't capture(?) one of the things I needed to have it equipped when you hang out with certain people which I think would have screwed up the play through, so I dropped it =(
against better judgement, I wanna get this and try again but I also don't want to get tens of hours into it and realize I screwed stuff up and will miss a ton of the content.
any advice?

Anyone know if the release edition of the game comes with a Steelbook case, or if it's in a Steelbook case rather than the traditional plastic one? Will probably go digital if it's just a Steelbook; don't like they way they look on the shelf with other games.

If it's like P5, it'll be a steelbook for the case if you pre-order or get the LE, but the usual release will be the typical plastic.
There's probably already guides out. It's been out in Japan for a while so the general timeline is already known probably.
Honestly, playing the first playthrough blind is the best way to go. You'll still get your money's worth as you'll get the majority of the interactions by just playing and exploring but I can understand wanting to see every little event.

this looks very similar to the one I used the first time; what you need to know, when you need to know it, and minimal spoilers.
the only issue I had, which I remembered just cruising through this one, was that when it says you need a certain arcana when you're hanging out with specific people, it wasn't always clear about having to acquire one of the those personas by a certain point. I think that's what happened last time. I didn't acquire one in the first dungeon that you need to have to get the +1 hanging out with someone, because the walkthrough didn't tell me to.
idk maybe it's not a big deal and I should just not worry about it and play it anyway.
