PewDiePie needs to research what he is going to have on his videos/stream because of the tremendous audience he has and what an influencer he is.

If he doesn't and he keeps promoting shit like this, it doesn't matter what he really believes in or whatever. He is irresponsible and will be labelled Nazi scum because of it.

Not understanding this just baffles me.
I agree but at the same time it's kind hard to research a guy that almost didn't exist due to deleted twitter and YT.

He is just laughing at a viral video. The fact that the video went viral would mean that Nazism went viral then ? If you saw the video and laughed, are you promoting nazism?

This comic is moronic. So according to you and this artist, owning an iPhone is the same level of necessity as participating in society?
It uses an insanely stupid false equivalence to make an extremely weak point stronger.
It's amazing how this is what your takeaway here is. Substitute it for any smart phone and any other criticism if you can't grasp the issue.

He is clearly doing this to provoke a response from the Liberal Media.

He's constantly using memes from 4chan and saying that was from Reedit, using Ben Shapiro clips, including far-right memes, like memes about Obama...

He's doing this as a part of his war against Media

No, they are not. They are informing people by pointing out the facts within their context. Just like... you know... news media is supposed to work.
Normally I would agree but this case is a bit different. Baked Alaska has been banned from YOutube and Twitter. 99% of people watching that PewdiePie video wouldnt know who Alaska was and what he stood for, and wouldnt care to check it.
Until we suddenly have this tweet blowing up. Which now tells all the kids who follow Pewdiepie and who believe the media has some sort of witchhunt against him, and now they will look into Baked Alaska and boom you are now spreading his bullshit to them.
All this has done is open up some childrens eyes to Baked Alaska and his content.
Pewdiepie simply reacting to a random group of clips does not achieve the same.
If he had tweeted about the dude or highlighted him in a video and his work (like he did with that other bloke some time ago) I would agree.
But in this instance the tweet against Pewdiepie has done FAR more to spread Baked Alaskas content.

This is not the same, not even close.

When you have millions of followers, majority in very sensitive ages, you need to check your content.

Ex. what if some of the kids found therealbakedalaska funny and looked him up and start getting pushed nazi agenda and start believing that shit.
no one is gonna try and find some random clip many episodes into his series. Barely anyone knew who the woman was the asked to copystrike one of his videos on stream until she continued to talk about it both on stream and social media.

this is being blown up just because its pdp tbh I guarantee most youtubers that does stuff like this, most twitter users etc etc and no one bats an eye because no one gives a shit about some dude in a 6 second tik tok video.

They do.

My own kids do exactly this when they watch compilation videos.

Not defending this shit but honestly there's no way anyone would know who the hell this Baker Alaska guy is. Let alone from a TikTok FUNNY COMPILATION video.
PDP isn't even directly watching the original TikTok, he is watching a compilation video put together by someon else on YouTube that watched those TikTok.

I didn't even know who Baker is until this thread and I fucking hate white supremacists...is there a list somewhere of all the alt-right people on internet? I would love to have one.

No, substitute the panel about the car and society with panels about Starbucks and Adidas and tell me if the comic has even remotely the same impact and if you'd be posting it here. The entire point of this comic is to create a false equivalence to drive home a disingenuous point.

Nice strawman.

You're being insanely disingenuous if you don't think this "backlash" has given this BasedAlaska faaaar more exposure and "promotion" then him appearing unreferenced in a PDP video. The title of this thread is also massively disingenuous, how exactly did he "promote" this guy? By posting a video on him doing something "meme" like? So are all the Downfall Hitler edits also promoting Hitler? How are people not emotionally exhausted at feigning outrage at everything.
No, they are not. They are informing people by pointing out the facts within their context. Just like... you know... news media is supposed to work.
There is ya answer kafkaswaffle. And no it isn't just reporting, this is promoting those channels.

If he was actually saying that this Alaska guys channel and content is good, go sub him etc, this thread would be needed.

I don’t get it, why are the mods just letting this thread stay in gaming?

How does it even fit in the category?
In a thread about a person who has a MASSIVE following promoting a disgusting white supremacist...you felt the need to thread whine about it being in gaming. Think about that for a second.

compilation videos of what? twitch stream highlights? because thats more understandable. Tik Tok like vine are done in seconds and repeated by hundreds of peoples and trends come and go.

im not defending the dude but like...come on now to actually do this over a fuckin tik tok compilation is actually laughable

They do if they have 70 million subscribers and have had previous issues with promoting Nazi shit.
Yes, that doesn't seem unreasonable or anything. Background check on absolutely everything you do from now on.

This place is so fuckin embarrassing sometimes.

Because memes go from 4chan to reddit. Lots of memes start from 4chan

He's clearly not promoting the idiot - The tweet is doing that for him.

But since PDP has 70m subscribers he should probably be a bit more careful of the content he's showing.
Either that or he knows full well and couldn't care less.

PDP is a pretty unpleasant dude, and I don't like his content (and fucking loathe all the other bullshit he's been involved in), but watching the video in question it's really really REALLY reaching to say he's condoning or promoting anything. He's just watching a compilation of videoes on the Tik Tok meme shit, where the guy in question is part. It's an absurd claim really.

That kills the entire escalation and joke. Just say you don't understand a simple comic, it's okay.

It isn't unreasonable at all. He's a multi-millionaire who has had previous issues with this kind of stuff and who has people who can micromanage this shit for him.

Why isn't it reasonable? No seriously. PDP has 70 million subscribers. Are you telling me a quick google of ther hashtags featured in his videos is not realistic?

This fucker paid people to hold up a sign saying "Death to all jews", he said the n word on stream, he openly promoted an anti semite last month. Why the fuck are you still giving him the benefit of the doubt? He doesnt deserve it.

By full background check you mean like spending 5 minutes googling that guy? Yes, that's less than the bare minimum I expect from an editor.
Are you serious?

Its a tiktok compilation video

They would have to be able to check every single user who uploaded every single clip by face alone.

The tiktok user is not showed afaik in the videos (checked and its only a very very few that had the username)

Also why people not commenting on the tiktok video with benshapiro that is shown in this SAME video?! lol

Not denying that he isn't doing that....but not with this video.

iv said my piece, i dont think what he has done before is right. not at all. I also think using this as another bit to add to that is dumb af because its a clip that lasts seconds in a tik tok compilation. expecting someone to go thru every account and do a check for every episode everyday is just stupid imo. But whatever to each there own, i dont care enough to be in this thread more than I have been.

Unfortunately the people who are bothered by his blatant racism are a vast, vast minority on the internet. I also refuse to believe his audience is mostly white-supremacist, which means that people just don't give a shit.

he did that for the nazi channel back in december too, i'm amazed how, according to his fans, he NEVER knows what he does, despite he prepares these videos right? and he has how many followers again?

I'm not here to judge, but he knows everything, and he hides behind excuses like "it's a joke".
This here is different.

With that channel, he claimed that he was only promoting his anime reviews, of which he only had two among a ton of political videos, so it was easy to see past his bullshit, especially since he did videos with legitimate anime tubers before.

This here is collection of various short clips, put together by his community. He didn't went and looked for this particular guy to include his content.

With that said, I'm not saying that Pewdiepie as a whole is innocent. He's at best a Naz-sympathizer and at worst a full-blown nazi himself. His fanbase also includes a lot of 4channers which by now should be an immediate red flag for everyone.
The main issue is that after all those controversies he still hasn't got the idea to change his content to be more child-friendly. On the contrary, he decided to ride that edgelord train until it crashes, despite it already having done so multiple times.

There's really nothing to say anymore. There are other Youtubers with similar but much carefully created content. So even if someone happens to the so ignorant that they do simply no care about any controversy with him, there's no reason to be with Pewdiepie anymore.

Am I missong something? The linked video only shows PDP making fun of a 5 second clip of the dude.

How is this promoting him?

I sincerely think it is part overeaction and social justice revenge porn. I don't get why society are so sensitive about these things these days to the point where the image of a person is offensive and instantly means promotion.

I am 100% sure if PDP brought the dude to debate him or dismiss him people would still call him out for promoting him even if he was against. These days you can't even have civil discourse or debate with someone like this unless you want to be called a nazi, racist, alt-right. SMH

Do you people that say that reporting on this is promoting the channel more than PDP have any facts to back up this claim?

There is ya answer kafkaswaffle. And no it isn't just reporting, this is promoting those channels.
If he was actually saying that this Alaska guys channel and content is good, go sub him etc, this thread would be needed.
So what exactly qualifies the articles as promoting instead of reporting? And where do you draw the line?
If I understand you correctly, you mean Pewdiepie isn't promoting the channel because he is not saying "it is good, go sub him etc,"... but the same holds true for the articles about this incident.

Are you serious?

I don't know how Tiktok works and never watched a a tiktok video. But apparently it came with a hashtag, as was pointed out by another poster. And even if this happens by accident, once it is brought to your attention, immediately take down the reaction video, cut out the clip in question and reupload that thing.

This should be locked. He’s not promoting anything. He’s watching TikTok videos. How is this even allowed on Era?

Welcome to Resetera.

And some people around here are confused as to why this place has a bad rep. Oh wait, we had a thread about that a while ago, and they came to the conclusion that everyone else was just alt-right. Fuckin lol.

You say things like a 300 retweet would be something HUGE and widespread.

PDP probably has no clue about who the fucker is unless this get some media coverage.

And in this case is such a stretch that I think even the media that hates PDP the most wont touch this.

IF it's your job to react to stuff on youtube , well yeah kinda . If you are a "nobody" viewing stuff leisurely , without much scrutiny upon your actions , and indeed did not know any better ... yeah it's nothing . However it's his job (and staff) to properly research stuff they risk promoting in videos , especially accidentally . and especially after so many similar cases .

Yeah yeah yeah , he could not bother to know , and it's the article that made that alaska idiot knows to most unaware people ... Yet does it not strike it odd , or at least lazy , that anybody can always manage to find who those mofos are , yet somehow PPD and staff can't verify content ?
