I wish we had a discord or something it would be pretty cool.

I have a job and pretty much refuse to take off from work to be trapped in a dome with a bunch of smelly nerds.
I don't blame you. I was shocked I didn't smell that many bad people while I was at supercon and I live in Miami.

So.. Sony is holding an event tomorrow, widely speculated to be camera releases. Any guesses as to what they're announcing?

The A7RIV has already been confirmed, I know the other is one of the RX series cameras which I don't care about at all. Another seems to be the A6500 replacement using the A7 styled body and new battery and the fourth camera is a question mark.

man i really should have grabbed some sony gear the other day instead of spending so much time agonizing over what fuji stuff to get. Should have just added it all to cart and been done with it instead of trying to not be too blatant about it. Meh

I'm so out of the loop regarding gear since I bought my XT-1 with 3 primes. The only thing I'm always dreaming of is a Leica M at some point...

I would buy a Leica just for me, instead of a fast car for example. As both things won't happen, I'm safe lol

I got the 14mm F2.8, 23mm F1.4 and 56mm F1.2. Pretty much my dream setup. Well, I REALLY miss my 135mm F2 Canon I used before with a 5D II. So it's possible I'll get the 90mm, too. (it wasn't released yet when I bought the Fuji)
I don't miss the size and weight of the Canon though lol. That was the main reason I switched, my kids changed everything ;)

If I got Leica money then I have GFX money. Leica doesn't add enough over anything I currently have to justify the purchase. Bruh get the 90F2, I fucking love that fucking lens. Get an X-T3, slap the 90F2 on it and it's the best thing since sliced bread.
Here's the last set that I posted yesterday using it.

Yeah, the 135mm f2 is still my favorite lens I ever used, so I'll keep that in mind :)

How did the XT line improve though? Is it just more megapixels? Because I really really like my XT-1

Just think of them as X-T1's on steroids with a AF joystick and better AF.

The X-T3 has to be way better than the X-T1 for these types of shots.

Yeah, the AF isn't the best part of the XT-1, that's for sure. Especially with the shallow dof with these lenses wide open. But it's not like the af of the 5D i and ii were any better lol. I got used to it.

The a7RIV looks great, but I don't need or want that kind of resolution. I was also hoping for 60fps 4k and for them to finally make the screen be able to flip around. I have no idea why they are stubborn with that screen design. I'm really glad to see the EVF improving in screen quality. Honesty, the EVF is one of the best things about mirrorless cameras. Being able to clearly see your true exposure and focusing and other details in real time makes an OVF seem ancient in comparison now.

They'd have to completely redesign the internals of the camera body for a flippy screen. It's not just a thing you quickly throw in there. If it's not economical they ain't doing it. Period. EVF's are great and quite frankly the true selling point of mirrorless, though with indoor flash work EVF's are a nuisance and quite frankly you have to turn off the exposure preview stuff to even be effective since you can't see shit if you're stopped down too much.

How are you guys with photography in the sun?

How you guys feel about it and what you looking for if you're taking photos on a sunny day.

I kind of find it boring and have been avoiding it, but I'm trying to change my mindset about it and start trying to do more photography on sunny days. Got to make the most of the summer days.

I basically just photograph what catches my eye.

I often go to gardens or parks, woods, etc and find a shady spot. If you're lucky you can get some dramatic contrasts between foreground light and a dark background.

Another option if you are urban is alleys, tall buildings, anything that generates shadow structure.

Alternatively, shoot in the early morning and late afternoon and spend the hot hours swimming or whatever.

When I got into photography a friend told me "Zwischen 1 und 4 trinkt der Fotograf Bier" which more or less translates into "Between 1 and 4 the photographer drinks a beer" lol

I used a Leica M6 with a film scanner for several years before getting my first serious digital camera. I would totally recommend it if you just want to have some fun with a Leica camera. It's probably the my favorite camera ergonomic wise. The new M10 comes close but I don't have six grand.

Now I use an old Leica M9 along with my A7ii. I have a M adapter for the A7 so both cameras can share lenses. I only have Zeiss and Voigtlander M lenses though, since Leica lenses are way out of my price range. Overall I think I spent less on this setup than if I've bought the comparable E mount lenses. Although I have to live without autofocus which I'm fine with.

Thanks for the input. Gonna try this weekend. Unless it's super hot.

More and more impressed by the old Zeiss. This is easily more than 50 feet away at night. Manual focus. They are sitting on a goldmine, just bring out an AF X mount version. I don't know if the Milvus is any good, but it must be.

A few from my recent trip to "Hoya Moros", probably one of the best places to climb in Spain!

Went out for a walk to get coffee today, brought my A6500 with a Canon 24-105 on it. I was spending the walk deciding if I needed to buy an A7iii finally.

Photos came out nice, but I bit the bullet and bought an A7iii bundle just now. Going to borrow the 24-70 and 70-200 GMs from work for a bit to break it in when it arrives this week.

It's been one month since I went to Germany and yesterday I finally finished looking at the pictures. I tried to edit them out on Lightroom just for fun and learning sake. Hopefully I did not go overboard.

Colour fits Berlin so I pushed the colours a bit (hopefully not to much). Also I went to watch the 24hr Nurburgring as I am big motorsport fan. Leaving some of these here as well.

I would be happy to receive opinions/advice as I am still kind of a newbie, especially in the editing part.

I was in Berlin and Munich last year. Would love to do Nurburgring with a telephoto lens. As it is Berlin is a very interesting place to shoot due to the architecture, graffiti and people.

So in general, you wanna focus the viewers eyes somewhere, so keep that in mind. It's either a specific thing or scene that should make sense. And the less clutter the better, more aesthetically pleasing. With Nurburgring, I see that you were able to get very close to the track, but it's just the track itself, which isn't that interesting. Waiting till a car came around would have been better. I do like the one with the car heading straight, that's good. I think you also missed out on doing some experiments with panning, a track is one of the places you can do that:

DSCF4294_2 by TIKI, on Flickr

Another for me is one objects low to the ground, like sports cars, typically if you also get low to the ground, you get a more dramatic angle.

DSCF9261_1 by TIKI, on Flickr

I like the last one, as well as the one with little graffiti wall on the foreground.
