In that case definitely go for the 50 1.8, that's one of the best deals there is. Just know it'll actually be a 75mm which is pretty long for day to day stuff.

I'm wondering if I should post some photos in "THAT THREAD" because everyone is like, "Hey just ask for consent."

If you always ask for consent, how are you capturing scenes?
I think that lens is damn near an 80 on Canon. Don't even bother. That thread is so fucking close minded that I eventually got so fucking sick of arguing that I just unfollowed and ignored it. We get it, those guys don't nor will they ever. They don't see the art and creativity in it. They'll probably just think you're demented for even taking the image.

So, I just got the EF 100mm F/2.8L Macro lens, and guess what was the thing I shot first? Why, portraits of couse! (to be fair, this was an indoor photoshoot. My 135mm wouldn't cut it). These portraits might be a little bit NSFW, so hiding them in spoiler tags just in case.

Great rendering on that. God damn. I'd crop some of these ultra wide for a more cinematic look.
Thanks, I basically knew the lense was a winner after that second pic...which was very early into my test shoot. The Angry Photographer spent a lot of time ranting about that lens across multiple videos, but this just shows how much he really doesn't know what he's talking about. Picked it up for $1400, slightly more expensive than a new Sigma 135 1.8, was quite the bargain at that price over the release date price. Can't wait to use it some more.

Ballycotton Island & Lighthouse

Just a small pano. I'm not entirely happy with it as it's not as sharp as I'd like. I blame the high winds at the time shaking my tripod (even with heavy bag attached as weight).

Wanted to post some photos I have taken on my phone, but after seeing the stunning work of people in this thread, I don't think I should. Is there a separate thread for amateurs? I don't have crazy cameras/lenses/talent. Just weird shots on the street.

Okay, here goes. This is not "good" or anything, just a weird scene I saw on the street:

Took this one from Neko. Photo kind of turned out well for a mobile shot:

What a fantastic lens, and, of course, fantastic photography. I've got an 85mm 1.4 which is also a wonderful lens for low light portraits.

I just tried to post a photo here, but it won't go through. Anyone else having issues?
The second set I posted is with e D810 and same lens. That lens is great for night time portraits. With this site to share pics you need to upload them to an external site and link from there. The 105 is basically what I felt I was lacking on Nikon. A nice exotic piece of telephoto fast glass. Bokeh is obscene on this thing.

Thanks, Jaded Photographer. I figured it out. I was using the picture icon to display my pictures when it was in fact redundant.

Again, great shots.

Here's one I shot with the 85mm 1.4 a few years back.

Ghost Ship Alta

49631865703_1f6bb610cf_k.jpg

The wreck of the MV Alta, a ghost ship that has been floating around the Atlantic for the past year, it was abandoned by it's ten crew after it became disabled and they were unable to repair it's engines. It washed up near the fishing village of Ballycotton during Storm Dennis.

I think I went too far with the editing on this one.

I took a sunset sailing trip through Rio Tejo with my girlfriend as a Christmas gift for her. It was actually pretty cheap and it was an amazing experience. I managed to take some pictures which I was really happy with.

Also, I went for a walk in Cascais and decided to try my OnePlus 7 Pro camera in Pro Mode and edit the RAW files. I was actually rather suprised with the result.

So every once in a while I get the urge to bite the bullet and buy a Nikon D5600... and then after a few days it fades. I've always wanted a camera but my two fears have been

1. I get tired of carrying it after the first day
2. My phone camera serves me well

Anybody have thoughts? Money really isn't an issue. I just worry that I get it and end up not really learning how to use it well and disappointing myself with bad results :P

Don't default to that camera, go to a camera store and see what actually excites you.

Anyone here who uses film ever heard of the Lab Box? I got one recently and I've been developing my own B&W film, and I can't believe how easy it is and how good the negatives turn out. I'm relearning manual exposure with an old Pentax K1000 and it's an incredible boost in my motivation knowing I can see the results the same day.

Also can't believe how useful Google Photos is at the free level, I've been scanning my negatives at 4K level and they all upload in full res with unlimited uploads. I'm just scared that it'll change in the future, but man is it a great way to store everything.

I have to look into this Lab Box. I haven't developed on my own since my school days and sending film out to a lab is mad expensive, lol.

To be honest I've been doing a lot of my events with a 35 and 135 or 24-70 and 135. Don't get the zoom unless you really need it.

Today I finally had some time to edit the photos of last week. These are going to be some slow days in photography for me. Time to crunch edit everything I have left behind.

Also, I getting really into very constraty black and white portraits for some reason.
