2017 beat 2016 by 3 million units . So they grew around 15%Was 2017 the current peak year overall, or did 2016 just beat it? I know it was on-track to be the best yet.
Edit: Damn it wasn't even all that close, crazy it's still peaking 4 years in.
Can we say due to huge ps+ numbers ,that ps4 will be the most profitable console for Sony ever ?

Sales threads never disappoint! It declined yoy, probally because Switch took gamers and game community by storm.
2018 will be a rough year for Sony.
If you're taking the entirety of 2017 into account, PS4 sales aren't down but rather up by around 15%.100M is an easy target for next year. one X + Switch & only a 5% drop. No new hardware next year + massive property bundles (GoW, Spider-Man, RDR2). They'll probably make that 5% up.
You are right sir.
We know it sold very little in Japan, PS4 is very strong in Europe but I doubt it would sell more there, I would think equally.
Haha, come on. And the PS4 still outsold the Switch since it launched including this holiday season. They have more competition now, but 2018 will be a rough year? Not even close. It declined yoy, probally because Switch took gamers and game community by storm.
2018 will be a rough year for Sony.
So the 5% less than 2016 could mean PS4 it's on mature stage, like half the road. Guess PS5 will be around 2020.

Because It will be the first time PS4 has competition since lauch, with Xbox One X and mainly Switch.
Software for PS4 in 2018 seems to be ok, but we will have Pokémon and others heavy hitters out PlayStation 4.
Yeah, saw just after I posted. Crazy good year.
That's pretty insane 4 years into this.10 million and change behind the Xbox 360.
By the end of the year the PS4 will be ahead of the GBA, PSP, PS3, and 360.
It will be behind the PS2, DS, Gameboy, PlayStation, and Wii.
Do you know how Ps4 sold in the same timeframe in 2016 in japan?I think i've made a mistake, because NPD counts from 25th of november (cybermonday week), probably those 3,6 millions are closer than we think.
Btw, 308K PS4 sold in Japan since nov 27th, let's do the math.
I'm curious about those europe numbers for PS4.
So the 5% less than 2016 could mean PS4 it's on mature stage, like half the road. Guess PS5 will be around 2020.
No it blew 2016 out of the water for the calendar year. A drop of 300,000 for the December period, but a total 2017 gain of 3M.So the 5% less than 2016 could mean PS4 it's on mature stage, like half the road. Guess PS5 will be around 2020.
this year the Switch won't be supply constrained and its the first full year with the Xbone X. The latter won't matter much I don't think since 2 gens ago, Xbox's power didn't slow Ps2 down at allWhy ? They have the biggest games and biggest third party marketing rights with the $199 ps4 coming.they will be more than fine
It grew by 15% in 2017 .do u mean just December? So the 5% less than 2016 could mean PS4 it's on mature stage, like half the road. Guess PS5 will be around 2020.
its not down 5% overall, its just the holiday period
Its up YoY, 17.5M in 2016 and 20.2M in 2017. Its the peak year so far
How do you even do that? I can't look up my own history!
They're doing both.Units aren't all that important though. Sales volume is great and all but it's about the amount of profit you're making on those sales that matters.
People need to stop putting so much emphasis on the number of boxes sold.

PS+ Subs are really all that matter, them alone are probably absolutely eclipsing the money even peak PS2 was making.Units aren't all that important though. Sales volume is great and all but it's about the amount of profit you're making on those sales that matters.

Are you certain you aren't counting week 1?
Shipped / Sold through Graph would be nice, too. Thanks to Wikipedia for the below - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_4#Sales

Actually it sold more in December 2016 than in December 2017.
That's literally slowing down.

By only 0.3 million units and the PS4 deals in December 2017 were arguably worse than the deals in December 2016.Actually it sold more in December 2016 than in December 2017.

Lets see Sony's inventory management.
I think i'll do a fast lazy work on that.
A 3M total increase for the year even though they were don't 300,000 for December, indicates a strong year round performance. The holidays aren't the only season in play for the PS4.Actually it sold more in December 2016 than in December 2017.

This 5% down thing is going to get a lot of mileage, when it completely skews the overall picture. Oh well.
