The face I was making reading these specs when the landscape is clearly significantly changing, Microsoft is ready for it with Lockheart and the strongest console, and Sony is marketing with their peak, 5% of the time, frequencies.
😬

I'd be very surprised if there's a noticeable difference in loading times just looking at raw numbers. I'm not actually watching this thing though so maybe Sony has some 'magic' that I'm not aware of.So XSX is more powerful by a pretty clear margin, PS5 will likely have substantially faster load times?
I'm getting both day one either way, but of those two advantages I'll likely make the XSX my main console for third party games. PS5 for exclusives.
The PS5 back compatibility messaging seems pretty murky...
My hot take here is that the Series X is a much more straight forward machine with gobs and gobs of power. The PS5 has a shit ton of tricks for devs to use.
Or they're giving actual size. You know, how a 500gb SSD is only ~420 or a 1tb SSD is only ~850. Let's hope. Everything else...
They are running at continuously boosted frequencies, no? They better have a good cooling solution! Why post the boosted clock speed on the spec sheet? It'll never stay there. This sounds like PS4 all over in regards to it being a jet engine. 9 was the number all along and it looks like they just tried to push it higher after seeing 12 for the Series X.
circa 2x faster presuming nothing else is bottlenecking the load. Game loads on both these machines though should be completely minimal.
Thats what i say. ;)Or they're giving actual size. You know, how a 500gb SSD is only ~420 or a 1tb SSD is only ~850. Let's hope. Everything else...
I'm guessing they're going to need to be patched for support.

Almost all top 100 ps4 games.
There are thousands of ps4 games.

Bigger open worlds with less load times, less need for corridors also those are mainly used to hide load screensAs a bit of a noob, what advantages do you think the PS5 can have over the XSX/PCs with such an advantage?
The biggest problem I see so far is that it's not full BC with PS4.
Cerny is realllllly downplaying ray-tracing right now.
Raytracing is the future but it's the PS6 future, not the PS5 future.
Yes they have tested the 100 more played games on ps4 for ps5 and not all of them will be compatible at launch. This is a big miss sony compared to xbox damn
I guess they want to sell PS5 editions of their biggest PS4 games?Yes they have tested the 100 more played games on ps4 for ps5 and not all of them will be compatible at launch. This is a big miss sony compared to xbox damn

It's not for general consumersHonest question, for whom they made this presentation? If it is for devs these are basic things explained in basic way so it looks like "explain me like i am five" to devs. If it is for consumers this is boring.
Who knows if "most of the time" but yeah, they can go down sometimes (if temps get too high?).Wait, the PS5 doesn't even stay at it's full TF # most of the time?
i agree
I think that is the advantage. Loads. As a bit of a noob, what advantages do you think the PS5 can have over the XSX/PCs with such an advantage?

Yeah clearly but it won't work this time, this will blow on sony's faceI guess they want to sell PS5 editions of their biggest PS4 games?
