I've been playing nothing but Armored Core and Gradius Gaiden on the jp classic.
Worth every cent...
err... yen.

Realistically, what can we expect from a fully modded Classic? Would it be possible to get games to perform perfectly, or is that unlikely?

Hey all,
FYI, first hack came out, it's all but fool proof though and you can brick your console if not careful.
Take the time to read the readme first and be sure that you know what you're doing before proceeding.

Not sure if I should add it to the OP, maybe with a disclaimer? As for myself I'll be waiting for something more accessible, not because I couldn't do it, but because I'm in no rush to hack the thing. Still progressing through FFVII. :P

Sounds wise not to rush for most of us.
I think there's already been substantially more progress made than some were expecting at the beginning of this week. By Monday, who knows how this will look again.
Those are what I'm waiting forMadmonkey (Hakchi team) is right now saying on Discord he will make some tools easy to use and useful to restore the Classic if something goes wrong. Wait those tools if you don't know what you are doing.
I think the priority right now is the ability to change the library to whatever we want to.Any whispers regarding feasibility of updating reArmed on the thing to the latest build yet? Or is that a way off still?
What's interesting about this is that it confirm that Sony left an emergency firmware update feature inside the playstation classic, now will it be used ?

Tinkling with the emulator should come after, if hackers consider it worthy of their time, that is.
I know, but even the PS3 could be updated offline either via a game disk or a USB Stick, they could very well release a software that does all the job (formating USB Stick + adding the files) automatically.
Same, just shows the normal game list. On a PAL classic (if that matters)Hmm I followed the procedure, but none of the games appear when I start the console...
It's getting there! Won't use this one yet, as I'm waiting to be able to add/remove games in the console. But that's great if you want to play games from a USB dongle.Bleemsync tool released
https://github.com/pathartl/BleemSync/releases/tag/0.1.0
Here there are instructions
https://github.com/pathartl/BleemSync
Still doesn't have an UI and you to follow instructions carefully but it's better than before.
Not yet, hackers are still working on making an accessible program to add/remove games first.do we know if we will be able to change saves etc yet i would love to be able to play fire pro wrestling G with english names
It's looking more and more like there'll be a software solution by the end of the week then, maybe even by tomorrow night? This is great! Only downside is that it uses up the second controller port, I wonder if you can use a USB hub?
Whaaaat! Already?Retroarch is already working on the PS Classic. Man, this is going really fast.
Oh it's one of those...yeah I hate the Vita Marketplace. I don't own a PS3 anymore so I'm SOL unless there's a way to brute force access or download it to PC or something.
Whaaaat! Already?
Is that a stream or something you're looking at? Does it seems to run well?
I suspect part of it is down to Sony putting way more units out there than Nintendo did with the NES/SNES classics initially. Those are now sitting on store shelves (In the UK at least) as well.I saw several of these at Walmart last night. I guess they're not that sought after (I'm not surprised given what was said here, but the general public doesn't necessarily follow gaming as much as we do).

Progress!
I love that the intro is still intact, however I hope that, in some ways, retroarch can still be used with the OG interface. Like, the emulator kicks in once you start the game.
I think there's something to the idea that Sony was never going to make everyone truly happy with the lineup, though obviously they could have done much better. The thing is that part of the general public does at least a quick check on the internet for reviews/previews and those for the PS Classic are all but glowing.
Just one google search for 'PlayStation Classic Review' can leave a bitter taste to the casual Joe. So I can understand why it would sell less than its two prodecessors. That goes without saying that the 20 games aren't really the best of the PS1's era.
They work great with retroarch, you plug them in, program the buttons and you're done(they are recognized as controllersI haven't opened mine yet, but how do the controllers act on PCs? Anyone try them with Retroarch?

Have done that, works now. Myself and someone else had same issue with Kingston Data Traveller USB sticks, unsure why.
Is that a USB 3.0 stick. I heard on ETA Prime that USB 2.0 sticks seem to have better compatibilityHave done that, works now. Myself and someone else had same issue with Kingston Data Traveller USB sticks, unsure why.
Everything's hackable. It's crazy going back just a week and seeing all the posts about how this won't get hacked.
