I've heard the HK version is really buggy, but the US is fine. Also the first level is bad after is good, and to get past the wall you have to shoot the lingering robots first. Looks like a Perfect Dark in VR kinda game, for 10 bones I'm def playing it tomorrow.

Everyone! I figured it out!

My complaints about the bugged weapons in Dark Legion are wrong! You need to LOOK DOWN to see all of them hanging on your utility belt.
Yes! A bazooka, a crossbow, a big-ass sniper rifle, explosive charges and grenades are all hanging on your freaking belt.

ORANGE LEOTARD LADY! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ANY OF THIS?

And I also realised the video scope on the sniper rifle and bazooka only work properly when you hold it up to your face...

I just tried the BBC's VR app and it was pretty good, the atmosphere of the stadium was good if you didn't try and focus on details. And the giant floating TV was OK for watching the actual game.

It really made me want the next ps5 version to come sooner than later, it's frustrating to be on the edge of an incredible experience like that.

Creating a brand new engine for a Killzone port seems incredibly unlikely to ever happen.
Well we don't know how much of the decima engine is a carry over from their PS3 work, it may well be that very little conversion would be necessary to get the game to run on ps4, but of course geurilla haven't produced a VR game so we don't know how tricky that would be to introduce. If what foolishoptimist says is true and Wipeout VR was borne from the vita code then it may well be we need to look at PS2 and vita games for good VR conversion.

Decima is Horizon Zero Dawn, yes? Horizon is open world at 30 fps, and Killzone is more corridored at 30 fps. Getting either up to basically 120 fps is likely crazy difficult. Iirc, PS2 games were usually coded in Assembler which has always been very niche (afaik) so converting such an engine to the x86 structure of the PS4, while possible, we have Final Fantasy X etc on PS3 and PS4 after all, is probably very expensive. I suppose they could maybe reuse the Vita Killzone game's engine version and try to reimport Killzone 3 etc into that and then port it to PSVR, but is that really all that business savvy in 2018? I doubt Killzone as a franchise is that cost efficient that such a port makes sense, not to mention that Guerrilla Games probably want nothing to do with Killzone these days.

I agree that older games, Skyrim is proof of this, is a good way to go for future PSVR content, but it's also problematic on its own. Even with a PSVR2, we still need streamlined games that can run at twice the framerate compared to regular console games, unless all games are optimzed to run at 120 fps, which is preposterous to assume for next-gen :) So in the end we will still end up at PS5 for non-VR games and possibly PS3 for VR. So basically the same situation as today :/

The problem is in the tech itself.

Edit: Focusing on remastering older games and doing VR ports is going to do more harm than good imo, that's already enough of bad PR for any system, let alone PSVR where quite a lot of people are worried because the biggest and best game is Skyrim, an 8 year old game PC port. A PS2 remaster, or slew of them, is going to raise some serious eyebrows, and not in a good way I think.

Killzone 3 was a 3D game. They would really just need to reduce latency and increase framerate and we would have a Resident Evil 7 level experience

So, I'm on the fence of buying this thing, but watching the Wikipedia game list there is a lot of games that I don't know about, and the ones that I know most have "lite" experiences and not the full thing.

I'm mostly interested by Tetris and maybe rez, but I'm sure that I'm missing a great experience that truly justifies the device, which are the must have games of the PSVR?

I would recommend downloading both volume 1 and 2 VR demo's available thru PSN. They both have a wide variety of games that you can check out and see which ones you like. VR worlds also has quite a few demo's/games available, but that one isn't free.

Is there nowhere near you where you can try a headset out? In the UK I found a company that would rent out PSVR for £20 a night - not cheap but it gives you the chance to see whether it's for you or not.

The thing with VR is games that you've seen lots of times before are suddenly fresh and new, they're just a new experience. If you played Robot Rescue in 2D it wouldn't have the charm and brilliance it has in VR.

Sadly no, I have nowhere to try this thing, it would be one of the most blind purchases that I have ever made

Resident Evil 7 is fantastic if you like the genre, it's really good in VR. Skyrim VR is my favorite way to play Skyrim. I also really liked Rez and Moss (although I've only played the demo). I have Driveclub VR and it's pretty cool, the resolution is low but the thrill is still there for the most part. If you're into puzzle games you should check out Tumble VR and SuperHyperCube, both of which are pretty fun and challenging in their own way.

Also check out Polybius, Sprint Vector, and Thumper if you can.

Resident Evil gets my vote as does Skyrim. Both are amazing in VR, even if the graphics take a hit, it doesn't take away from the experience. At least not for me. I think I also got lucky and don't suffer any motion sickness, played for about 4 hours straight and didn't even get queasy. And I had everything on smooth so no teleporting or 30 degree turning.

There's also Wipeout Omega collection if you're into that. I hear the VR is impressive in it, but haven't had a chance to try it yet despite owning it.

I've been waiting to try Driveclub VR for some time, but was put off by all the reports of its visuals. I guess at $5 on PSN right now, why not lol?

Just reading through the last few pages and I'd echo the calls for stuff like Killzone/Resistance/ Motorstorm 3 being brought into VR. I'd imagine a good deal less expensive to rework than building from the ground up, and would give the platform a few more 'known' franchises( I personally enjoy the niche stuff fwiw), in the case of the aforementioned 3 dormant IPs. Hell, make a 2 hour long Uncharted 'experience' where you're rummaging caves and shooting up baddies as good ole Nathan Drake and charge $15 for it or whatever. There are some ways to leverage some of their bigger name IPs into VR software without spending oodles of 'AAA' dollars on them.

HD remasters are being released en masse now. I could see VR remasters being a thing.

So far, at least for me, the couch VR with DS4 has been the most consistent experience. No drifting or rearranging play space.

Racing games with a FFB wheel is the pinnacle so far though.

For $5 it's a no brainer, yes the graphics have been pulled back but once you're in the car cockpit and racing you forget all that. Night racing is poor though as visibility is almost zero, ALTHOUGH the effect of the headlights in mirrors at night is amazing.

Yeah thanks, I'm on it today :). Will probably pick up Star Trek BC as well, finally...

Do note, there's a very high possibility that you may get motion sickness (like me!) when playing games where the camera moves and you stay still.
I'd highly recommend trying out the jungle level in VR playroom first before getting games like RE7 or Skyrim where's there's free movement.

As for games that totally justify the PSVR, my personal recommendations are:
VR Playroom - Goes without saying, this is the very first thing you should play.
Mortal Blitz - 5 levels of shooting action that can get REALLY intense depending on how high you set the difficulty. Decent production values.
DOOM VFR - I'm only at level 2 so far but I really like it. It has free movement as well as teleportation AND you can strafe and move forwards/backwards to dodge enemy shots.

You'll definitely need 2 PS Move controllers to enjoy the games.

If you're ok with anime-style stuff, I'd also recommend Summer Lesson (please don't buy this at full price) and the free Fate/Grand Order VR Experience (which is more a time waster than an actual game) on the Japanese PSN where you get to socialise with Mash Kyrielight and Artoria Pendragon.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

Do you have a powerful PC? Feel like playing stuff on your PC with your PSVR?
Trinus PSVR is the answer: https://www.trinusvirtualreality.com/psvr/

Here's a Youtube tutorial on how to set it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BSeXv3KRaw

But what about the controllers? There's open source software out then that will make the PS Move controllers work on a PC, but I took the lazy way out:
There's a company in China that makes a substitute for Steam VR controllers: https://www.nolovr.com/store/pre-order-regular-nolo-set.
The product page has a link to the Amazon US store where you can order them. Half the reviews say it's garbage, the other half say it's great.
I'm going to find out for myself in 2 weeks time when my set arrives...

I get dizzy with some FPS, so there is huge chance that I could get dizzy with this thing

I'll echo the nominations of Moss, Skyrim, Wipeout, Resident Evil, Sprint Vector, and Rez for Best Of PSVR; it's weird that no one mentioned Superhot, one of the best VR games on any platform, and I'll also throw in Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood. Close runner-ups for me would be GNOG, Statik, Bound, Wayward Sky, Headmaster, I Expect You To Die, Apex Construct, Farpoint, Dino Frontier, and Batman: Arkham VR. And there's a number of games that have recently come out that I haven't yet bought, despite getting very good reviews - the thing about jumping on PSVR at this point is there's actually a pretty amazing library.

I've switched to playing standing up with the aim controller and there seems to be a lot less drift issues. Guess all the moving around keeps that in check.

Second Move controller on the way. Are the PS3 moves any different in terms of accuracy?

Nope, they're exactly the same thing, which is kind of the problem with the Moves. They're eight-year-old technology that was never designed with VR in mind. They mostly get the job done, but if Sony released a revamped Move system, with multiple cameras to track depth better and give us room scale, and analog sticks on the controllers for movement, I'd snap it up Day One.

Brought a 2nd PSVR headset today, £179 Starter Bundle from Tesco Direct.

Taking a chance on it being a V2 for HDR pass-through. The info doesn't say unfortunately but it has a pic of the V2 in one of the pictures, so fingers crossed.

If it is V2, I'll trade in my V1 to make it even cheaper. If it fails and it's another V1, I'll send it back. Thought it's worth a try, nothing to lose really.

This thread slowed down dramatically following the switch from the old forum, and being moved into Hangouts instead of the main games area. Lots of users don't know this thread still exists due to that move.
Yeah, I keep forgetting this thread is in Hangouts now, even though I'm active in most new threads that come up in the main gaming section for PSVR games and news.

Finished Resident Evil and Not a Hero and End of Zoe DLCs.
First time I've finished a type of survival horror game, that was quite the experience.

Graphics were a non issue after the first 30min. The depth perception makes it a great experience! Especially during boss fights!

But it definitely has it's jank too, I can't really understand why camera reset is not a button.

God damn. This looks legitimately legit.

Here is hoping that this one is what Brave Team should have been. The dev also made ROM: Extraction which is also coming to PSVR. It only has mixed reviews on Steam though. I want to pick up Firewall ASAP because I have really high hopes for it and ROM also looks great to me at least.

ROM was known to be super polished apparently, only issue was the lack of content and support. Seems like they are focusing on Firewall now, plus we already know the amount of content day one, I would say it's a safe buy. We will get more details and release date this month.

Sounds reassuring. I don't even mind lesser content as long as the experience is great. Rush of Blood is one of my favorite VR games and it's like 2 hours long.

Might give Kona a go. I'm in the mood for something like that and I remember when it was first released it grabbed my attention for its setting and exploration based mystery that is heavy on story but never got around to checking it out.
