After playing Shadow of the Colossus, if Bluepoint really is working on a Demon's Souls Remake, that is going to be one of the most beautiful PS5 games for a very long time.

Surprised a bit thataction adventure is 3rd most wanted genre next gen. Don't get me wrong I love my action adventure but I think Sony needs some triple A variety.

Sure it is. Just not at a grand scale. PS4 had "last minute" RAM changes and Xbox One clock adjustments.

Like a lot of person, you misunderstand this story.
It was not "last minute RAM changes"

They wanted 8Go GDDR5 since the beginning, but, negotiations to obtain them on time, in quantities, and above all at sufficient prices, proved to be complicated.

They had therefore planned a backup with a different model with a RAM config that they were sure of being able to obtain, and had communicated to the devs only on this scenario just in case.

They finally succeeded in their negotiations and were able to make their first vision.

But it was planned from the start, it was not changed at the last minute.

They just did a "just in case" scenario

It's totally different than changing anything planned because they had 4 month delay...

For the "clock adjusments", it's not component change, they all worked on this aspect until the last minute.
It is just the result of a battery of last conclusive tests. It almost the same, a "just in case" scenario wich was finally unnecessary.

At least I'm not alone in this.

Only 3% wants platformer? Makes me sad :/
It was one vote per person so only 3% wanted platformers the most. Feels like a genre where indies deliver as competent games as the big studios these days so I'm not sure it's a genre PlayStation needs to focus either in my opinion. Would be nice if Sony could produce something that goes beyond indies in presentation and art like Microsoft's Ori series though. Housemarque and Insomniac have made some solid Metroidvanias (Outland and Song of the Deep).

also my 2 cents on these sections

a) the JRPG Thirst is real !
b) where is the love for Nathan :O Sullivan ftw
c) those San Diego results are harsh but it's how i feel aswell...i hope they work on a new ip or try a sports game that's more popular on a global scale

I think they are doing pretty good. They have AAA games in the action adventure, sports, racing, create&share and action-RPG genre. I think that's a nice variety of AAA games. They rest can be AA games. I would take a 1st party JRPG tho. Not gonna lie. But in the end, it does not mean Sony needs to make an AAA game for every genre that exists.

Give me my AA 1st party JRPG already, Sony!

Well soon it will be 10 years since the last time Sony made a 1st party console JRPG. It's time!
Regarding Nathan: His story is over and he got the best ending for a franchise/store ever. He deserves to rest.
Now is Chloe's time ;)
And regarding San Diego Studio: Well if you aren't an american, there is a 99% chance you aren't interested in San Diego Studio's output. MLB isn't as big as NFL or NBA in Europe, etc. It's time for San Diego Studio to get a second team and make something else. But now that they have to make MLB The Show ports for PC, Xbox One, Switch and Xbox One X... I doubt they will have enough resources for more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm pretty sure we already saw job descriptions clearly telling us that San Diego Studio is now also working on a FPS.

No, San Diego Studio (not VASG), were explicitly hiring for a multiplayer FPS shooter just a few weeks ago, i posted about it in the previous OT.
I guess they will support another studio (external support) for something. No way are they developing something completely by themselves. But hey, let's see.

It definitely is ! I should send the poll results to Hermen :P
I agree with Nathan needing to rest, but i thought the votes for him would be higher, given how he is the face of Uncharted.
A GOW without Kratos wouldn't probably be welcomed like that

Huh, they actually edited it to remove any references to online shooter. now it only talks about a general multiplayer game unless if i am tired and missing the part where it says its a shooter.

This might be a plan B for SDS in case that Sony loses the contract or Sony wont be satisfied with the new contract terms, then they can get the team over to the second game that is their own IP. Imagine if they suddenly arent able to make MLB games anymore, in that case the team needs to suddenly start pre prod of a completely new game and this will likely also cause layoffs. If they already have a second project as a back up plan, then they cna shift those resources over.

Nice results!

Also people have voted, JRPG is the majority. Sorry everyone else!
AAA JRPG doesn't make much sense though, weird.

Never understood the love for The Order either, whether you love graphics or not. Thanks for all the details!

edit: oh, just seen the two other parts.
Best new IP makes me sad, and "rate first party output" is a bit ridiculous, but other results were mostly expected (outside of Kojiprod being third in terms of acquisition wishlist).

They exented the MLB contract so I'm pretty sure they will make MLB games for a long time. Looks like it's gonna be a XDev team. But hey, let's see. Maybe it's even a small internal VR team ;)
