I see the term "ginger" used on here relatively frequent and I believe it should stop. As a redhead, I was bullied my entire childhood (as all red heads are). You are looked at as less of a person and sexually undesirable. Why is it ok for people to use it here? We don't allow objectifying terms to be used for any other group as far as I'm aware.

Everyone that uses it thinks they're clever because they saw an episode of South Park

I honestly didn't know it was an insult. I don't really use it anyway, not that many red heads around here.

Since when are redheads looked down as sexually undesirable? Red headed women are gorgeous. I've heard that red headed men may have it harder, better everyone has their preferences.

I'm a red head and I generally concur - the phrase is used negatively up until a point. That said, after the inflection point where humans realize that making fun of other humans is a wasted effort, it is generally used in a positive sexual sense, I have found. Or even a positive personality sense, as red heads tend to be different sorts of people.

I know plenty of red heads that will call themselves ginger and be proud of it. I'm sorry you're offended but I don't see how its objectifying anything. I do know that red heads are sometimes looked upon with disdain but never understood why.

I had no idea ginger was offensive. My wifes bff is a ginger and she refers to herself as a ginger. Should I inform her that she is offending herself?

Women with red hair are seen as less than desirable? I will need the receipts on that one. It's honestly the same as calling someone skinny, or lanky. It's not meant to insult but I can see how it could.

I see where you're coming from, but Ginger is not a bad term for most people. Gingers/Redheads are some of the sexiest people in my opinion, haha. Red heads get +50 attractive points when comparing them to boring brunettes, blonds, and black haired folks. I hope my wife is a redhead haha

Today everything is offensive. Maybe its time to stop talking at all.

I find this highly offensive! >:| /s

Yeah, this is where I'm at. I don't think I know a single redhead personally who has balked at being called a ginger, and since when were redheaded women sexually undesirable?!

I was struggling for a word because its something little kids and adults experience, do you have a better term? I am open to it.
I don't think being a redhead makes you sexually undesirable and the way you worded sounded weirdly sexist to me, I don't think you need that part to make your point valid (which is a point that personally I think warrants a discussion).

I'm a redhead, have no problem with being called Ginger, obviously I don't talk for others, I'm not their king.

In the UK male redheads have the stigma of being undesirable not female, although both sexes are often accused of having a fiery temper.

Besides South Park I've never even seen the word Ginger outside of redheads referring to themselves, or as a positive in clickbait for redheaded women in porn.

Is Ginger just an insult in England or something?

I was trying to say women get it much worse than men, especially when they are younger. I'll just take it out.

Nah OP, that seems pretty specific to you and should be addressed to those around you. Let's not try and make "ginger" a thing.

I'm not usually one to label people as being over-sensitive... but I think you're being over-sensitive.
