Just bought this game and wow, nostalgia overload. I played the crap out of Yellow, Red and Silver. The battling is fun too. Can't wait to start battling with the bigger Pokémon.

Finally picked this up last week because of all the good word of mouth surrounding and a friend finally raised my hype enough to try it. I've got maybe 6-8 hrs or so played so far but right now I really love it. It's nice to play my Switch again because it's mostly been collecting dust for me since Mario Odyssey.

I have not played a Pokemon game since Gold/Silver like 15 years ago or so. I have very fond elementary school memories of Gen 1 games and I have to say that I love the changes so far. I love the updated 3D graphics and the overall art style. I love the idea that it seems much easier to complete the Pokedex now as that was always a dream of mine as a kid and due to Nintendo events for Mew and no online back in the day it was extremely difficult to do before. I never got into Pokemon Go when it released due to living in areas where there is literally nothing to do on it so I was a little worried about the new catching system. I'm mixed on it I think. Part of me misses the old wild battles and part of me doesn't. I like how simplified the catching is now, but on the flip side, when it comes to grinding out levels, I have to be honest I hate catching pokemon as the best way to grind. I much prefer fighting wild pokemon or trainers.

At first, I was really excited to play Pokemon on my TV, but for me, I hate only being able to use one Joycon. I may be crazy but holding only one controller while my other hand is just idle is... not comfortable for me and feels awkward. I could overlook this honestly but the dealbreaker for me was the atrocious motion controls for the catching mechanic. I'm no stranger to motion controls but it just does not work well in this game for me and it's so uncomfortable and inconsistent that I'm pretty much convinced now that I'm going to be finishing this game in handheld mode.

All things considered though, I'm really enjoying it though. It's a bit on the easy side but that's not a huge complaint. I'm pleasantly surprised with the xperience and it feels awesome to play Pokemon again! I'm sorely tempted to get the Poke Ball accessory just so I can get a Mew since that was another childhood dream I had for a long time that I was never able to accomplish.

Welcome aboard! Let's Go is a flawed game, but that doesn't mean it can't be a fun one. I have 60+ hours on my file and I'll boot it up every now and then to catch a few Pokemon even though I'm literally playing other Pokemon games now, hahah.

Wondering if anyone with Let's Go Pikachu would be interested in trading a shiny Sandshrew for a Shiny Vulpix as I have a spare.

so I am old school pokemon gamer, I have spent HUNDREDS of hours with pokemon blue, red, yellow, 1st gen is my favorite ever.

I just started playing let's go pikachu. the lack of random encounters and the catching mechanics does not bother me a lot like I felt it would, but the fact the game is incredibly easy, that bothers me. It takes all the fun out of the game....

anybody with same opinion?

Yep. Except I don't like the catching mechanics either. You have to literally make the game hard. Avoid candies, avoid using the starter and its OP moves, avoid catching multiple Pokemon so you're not over leveled. Was mostly disappointed as it's the first Pokemon game that I played for less than 100 hours and felt little desire to catch em all. Even the original Red/Blue/Yellow I played for more than 100 hours.

I find if you sideline your partner Pikachu/Eevee, the difficulty is about what's typical for a Pokemon game.

Kinda sucks though because I want to use my partner pokemon since that's what so much of the game is about.

Hey! I'm new to this thread as well. Just wanted to hop in and say that my experience almost exactly echoes yours. It's been a fun ride playing through the game. I play all the Pokemon games and have my list of pros and cons for each but I can't deny that I was at a prime age for Poke-mania back when Red and Blue arrived. As a result, I do feel a very heartwarming nostalgia seeing the Kanto region in its crisp presentation and hearing the sweet remixes of the OST. I must admit that I do wish they were a bit more ambitious with the overworld re-design in these games but whatever. Ultimately I've been having a relaxing time playing through this and even loved the Pokemon roaming on the overworld more than I thought I would! Actually, I'm disappointed this wasn't expanded upon and improved in Gen 8. It feels like it might be a step back to be honest. Having Pokemon on the field but touching one triggered traditional battles... that would be wonderful. But I digress.

Oh and I share your feelings about the single joy con motion controls. That was definitely a bummer to me.

Also, the throwing pokeball mechanics SUCKS. if the pokemon is on the left or right, is very hard to throw the pokeball accurately. It takes several attempts to throw in the right direction. AM I doing something wrong? I can only get it right first try when the pokemon is in the middle of the screen.

Nope it sucks, it's best to play handheld mode only when catching Pokemon. You just use the gyro controls instead, much more accurate.

Hey everyone. This is my first Pokemon game. I have a question about candies. I was listening to a podcast and the host talked about not messing with your Pokemon's stats until max level. I'm pretty sure he was talking about a previous gen game. But I'm wondering if I should use my candies as I get them? I've not used any, yet, and my team is around level 35. Should I go ahead and use them or wait?

That's only for previous gens, it's fine to use them whenever.

To anyone with the Eevee version; I just realized there's some Pokemon I can't catch in the Pikachu version and I've got no family or friends with let's go Eevee.

If anyone has spare Bellsprout, Vulpix, Meowth, Koffing, Ekans, and Pinsir; please PM me if and when you'd be available to trade and if there's any Pokemon outside your version that you'd want in exchange for those six.

Thanks!

Hi there,
I need a little bit help. My son just fought mewtwo and got defeated. The thing is, he didn't save before fighting him. (I told him to ! Before every legendary pokemon but you know..., kids, he forgot...)
So I search if mewtwo can respawn. I found that you have to defeat the elite 4 + the champion again to make mewtwo respawn. But some guys say it doesn't work. So can someone here can confim me this ? I trust Era more than some random guys on the internet.

Thanks in advance.

It has been the case since Platinum that you can do that so you can never lose a Legendary Pokémon forever

Just finished, absolutely loved it, I played the crap out of red/blue as a kid (I'm 30)

But never played a pokemon game since, I blitzed this game as it was just like how I remembered it, I appreciate I don't have any of the nuances for the new Pokémon games so all the back steps it does are lost on me.

Do Pokemon spawn in the world based on time or movement? I'm trying to chain and get good IV Pokemon and shiny Pokemon but was curious about how the spawning works in this game.

Pokemon spawning is timer based, with each Pokemon sticking around in the overworld for a set amount of time before despawning.

One way to expedite the process is by using a repel and immediately using a lure, which will clear all the current spawns and allow new Pokemon to appear.

Would anyone be interested in helping me evolve my Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, and Haunter? They're the last few I need for my Dex. Thanks!

Got a question for y'all.

If I only have one Pokeball Plus and use it to transfer Mew to Let's Go Pikachu, will I be able to transfer the Mew back to the Pokeball Plus and then "trade" it into Let's Go Eevee?

Man I'm really tempted to go back and play this now that Pokémon Home got announced. Want to catch some shinies now.

Went back and did some stuff I neglected after beating the Elite 4!

I caught Mewtwo, beat a couple gyms the second time, and finished my Pokedex! I want to shiny hunt, but I constantly choke lmao.

For as much hate as these games get, I really enjoyed them. I'm really hoping they keep the ability to 'judge' Pokemon right in the menu. It's so easy to see what's going on there, I would hate to lose it.

Otherwise, I'm kinda hype for the eventual Sword and Shield transfer. What ability will my level 70 Psyduck receive?? Can't wait

Is anyone around to help me evolve the 4 trade evolution Pokemon and also send me a Grimer? I can offer anything exclusive to Let's Go Eevee. Would be much appreciated!

I'm at the Elite 4 and have to grind to get my team up 5-10 levels to be competitive. I know the seafoam islands are a place to grind but in running out of poke balls fast. Is there a better route to leveling fast?

Just beat this game with my team of first evolution Pokémon! Final team: Psyduck, Jigglypuff, Rhyhorn, Growlithe, Alolan Grimer, and Pikachu. Had to pump them up with candy to make them work, but I enjoy just using Pokémon I liked rather than worrying about meticulously choosing the most optimal team.

Just beat this game and felt the need to share my thoughts (cuz what else is a forum for?!):

-I actually really enjoyed the new catching mechanic - that difference between the trainer fights and catching pokemon made every "turn based" part of the game a little bit different and a lot less repetitive. Keeping it for the legendary pokemon/snorlax etc. was a cool touch and made those pokemon catches special, too - although not being able to just toss the masterball at MewTwo was annoying, A) because he was insanely hard to beat (literally just caught a Snorlax in the cave, got his health down to just over half, then chose Articuno next and used mirror coat) and B) because to me that was always the reward for keeping it that long, being able to catch Mewtwo with ease

-The difficulty ramp at the end of this game is ridiculous (and must've been in in the original too, can't remember) - you beat each gym member who only use pretty much one type (which makes those fights a little breezy), and then you're expected to fight 5 trainers, all with over-leveled pokemon compared to the final gym leader, all with a variety of types, and without heals in between?! I got all the way to my rival but had run out of revives/max potions/full restores and just ended up having to take out the legendary birds (I didn't even think of switching pokemon out until this point), but it was still an insanely hard final fight. Don't get me wrong, I like a challenge, but the game should do a better job of preparing you for that final section. Maybe each gym should increase the variety of types as you progress, like Giovanni should have all different types or something (which would make sense, given his character in the story).

-Maybe this was my fault though, because I actually chose to box Pikachu right away, and only use Pokemon I caught throughout my adventure on the first catch (as in no combo catching for higher stats) - apart from using the birds for the final fight, wish I hadn't had to do it but I was ready to be done with the game and didn't want to grind - my team ended up being Vileplume, Arcanine, Mr. Mime (renamed Mr. Meme heh), Golduck, Pidgeot, and Rhydon. I'm not a huge Pokemon guy other than playing the originals way back, so maybe this team was a bad one to pick - but I really enjoyed playing the game this way - opting not to use the Pokemon "given" to you made the game way more challenging and fun

-The music was fucking amazing in this game. Hearing all those chiptune songs that make the nostalgia flow, but redone in orchestral fashion - got damn. I'm ready for Let's Go Marill or whatever just to hear the music

-All in all the game was really good, IMO. I didn't mind the changes, I thought the catching mechanic was really fun (weirdly kind of reminded me of Pokemon Snap for some reason, too) and the rest of the game was just a really great remake of a game that brought me a lot of joy way back when. Solid remake, I hope they do one for Silver and Gold, too. Only thing is, I'm pretty much Pokemon'd out at this point, now I'm not sure I'll want to get Sword or Shield this November, ah well.

not sure where to put this but can someone tell me how Gameboy cartridges battery work

my used copy of Silver battery ran out and of course the save file is lost

the copy of Yellow my parents bought for me in 2000 is still working tho. Why is that and is the battery about to go out on that one as well? Is it because i havent played that all that often throughout the years.

There's a battery for timed events in Gold and Silver, that's why the save file was lost. Red, Blue, and Yellow don't have timed events.

Playing with first-catchers is fine, I think most people do that. Chaining is a nice novelty, but you lose patience for it fairly early on unless you/re a shiny hunter.

Boxing Pikachu was probably your downfall, though. The game concentrates on Pikachu (or Eevee in LGPE) a lot - they get taught some OP moves that make the game much more of a cakewalk.

I have one! I'll be busy for a couple days tho and I should boot the game up & remember how trading works lol so message me on Wednesday sometime after 4pm EST?

I hate to piggyback on this, but I was just searching for this thread to ask the same thing. The only Pokeball Pluses I see for sale are nearly $200 and there's no guarantee those even still have the Mew in them. I'm just looking to get recognition from the Mew Master Trainer and then I could send it right back. Would you be able to let me borrow that Mew for a bit?

I know it needs 8000+ CP in order to get the title. If yours isn't at that level, I'd be happy to feed it a ton of candies I've got to give it a boost, if you were cool with that.
