Why is the music so bad? I don't get it. I thought some of the initial tracks were great but a lot of this legitimately would make me want to mute my Switch.

Not gonna lie I kind of still want to buy it just to for sure first-hand see if the main series is dead.

Ohhhhhh, he was talking about Astral Chain. It all makes sense now.

I hope that gen 9 is amazing to make up for this "transitional gen." Otherwise Sword seemed primed to be the last Pokémon game I'll get at launch. I'm hesitant to even get any potential gen 4 remake to be honest. I'm kind of hoping for some kind of day 1 patch to fix some minor issues, but I know it probably won't do much and it won't fix a lot of my underlying pre-release complaints with these games. Did the GTS stuff ever get resolved, or are people still thinking that it'll be in Home?

I'm looking forward to SwSh and Let's Go is the first Pokémon game I've skipped so checks out in my book.

I was so, so excited about this game when t was first announced at E3 2017. *Sigh*

Can we get a new Colosseum/XD please? Heck even a new Battle Revolution would be good.

Do you have a reason to post here except to go to bat for these games?

This is the third generation now with the same approach to leveling and experience. The linear route design has been in place since BW. I don't understand why you think these things will suddenly have the tide turn against them to the point it affects future installments when trends suggest otherwise.

And everyone has the right to post here and respond to what other people have to say

pretty much where I'm at. I've got this preloaded, but this will likely be the last time I don't just buy used if it's as bad as it sounds and they don't make an effort to course correct

I wonder if you'll get a decent challenge from Gyms if you ignore Dynamax just like I skipped over Z-Moves in SM.

I could see the game telling you to use them though.

This could be barely acceptable if it weren't the first HD mainline console game. People have the right to be disappointed. Don't wanna be too mad tho otherwise we're just toxic, right?

Things have fundamentally changed in the game's development though. They did not have to work at all on over half of the Pokemon, so they should've had more time to make it less linear, and they definitely should not have taken away the toggle.

I'm not really seeing anything easier than other relatively recent non-USUM Pokemon games either tbh. But I am definitely bummed that mandatory Exp Share isn't remotely balanced, yeah.

If they really wanted to shake things up, they should have made the majority of battles doubles. At least that would almost prepare people for VGC rules. Most of the MAX moves are built around doubles.

The annoying part is that from what I've seen all they'd need to do is add an option to turn off the Exp. Share and tweak some of the levels and it being fine. Like, having a rival battle with four Pokemon after the second gym is great, but it's not if it's stupid easy because your is over-levelled.

I honestly don't want complex dungeon layouts if there's no difficulty.

That worked in RBY with limited inventory but dungeons in Pokemon have felt like a slog, some of them in BW bored me.

But I do want branching routes. Give us an obvious path for the kids and off areas to explore.

Frankly to me Sword and Shield was a test to see if they should keep making games for the "veterens". Which they marketed SS as compared to Let's Go, now they know that's failed and the hardcore Pokemon fans hate them, there is no reason to make a game for them. Make it for the Casuals. I don't agree with this but it's likely the conculsion i can see GF coming to after this whole mess

Generation 4's base games being the worst in the entire series is entirely why i'm hesitant to touch anything after this game. The pacing issues in that game coupled with the seemingly nonexistent difficulty curve in Sw/Sh being brought over to that game would be disastrous.

I'll say this for Gen 9; save for Generation 2, the base games i've enjoyed the most (Black/White, Sun/Moon) are all odd numbers. Sort of a reverse Star Trek movie quality.

Wait, is the Wild Area as bad as Pulse from XIII? I saw some people comparing a few pages ago

Wonder if this will get the same "Final Hallway" jokes as FFXIII. Pokémon Corridor & Hallway

This only became an argument and not a mere discussion when you challenged the fact that I even disagreed with you from the very first thing I said to you.

Let's Go was the first mainline console game. And I never said a damn thing about anyone being toxic.

This is a public place and he can post whatever he wants about a game that looks terrible. If it bothers you that much, stop checking for his posts.

Game is sounding about how I expected but my expectations were really at rock bottom. :/

"First mainline HD console game" should have been a clue that it would be a clusterfuck. Game Freak has hardly any HD experience and it takes them a while to adapt to new hardware. Gen 9 should look a lot better, but unless some major changes happen at Game Freak, it seems like the route design and balance issues are here to stay.

I'm this close to canceling my pre-order. It's not even Dexit at this point, the game itself just sounds like shit now.

I've only seen a very small handful of the leaked Pokemon up until now (i'm playing with fire by checking this thread, but I don't care). Y'all think the game would be worth it just for getting to see them all for the first time?

The top-tier pokemon design is the only thing stopping me from not buying this game tbh. Bless James Turner

I think I'd be happier if they did that and dropped the pretense that they're even trying to appeal to more hardcore fans with this, because they clearly aren't.

So, now that we've seen this, I legitimately can't understand why they took away the option to turn the Exp. Share off. There's actually no reason. It isn't balanced around it.

So after just a few moments, I think I've probably borne witness to half of the biggest complaints that I'm seeing: horrible difficulty balancing and bad music. I mostly concur with the former and need more exposure to the latter but so far I don't dislike it. The other big complaints seem to stem from overly linear routes and ugly visuals. I'm probably spoiled because I'm checking out the stream in an area I thought was pretty from the earliest trailers, haha. So I don't really see that one right now.

Shame things have turned so sour, I cancelled my pre-order earlier this week thinking I'd get it at a launch event or from another retailer but now I'm half tempted to just... not bother. I never finished Ultra Moon, might just do that instead and pick up SwSh later.

Collosseum was basically a Pokémon version of Final Fantasy VII visually and I love it
