With the move over to the Switch, I think it's safe to assume Pokemon Bank will be moving over as well. One thing I'd like to see is Game Freak continue to consider porting over or emulating their older games in their original forms with Pokemon Bank support, like they did with the first and second gen games.

One example that I personally would love, though I know that apparently no one at Game Freak would ever do it, is porting the Gamecube spinoff games with Bank support. I personally think Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness are really fantastic gems that many Pokemon fans would have missed. The extra horsepower would make emulation a possibility, and the mechanics and style of those games are really unique and fun. I'd take a direct sequel as well! I think the combination of the two core tenants of Pokemon, catching and trainer battling, into one mechanic was a really genius move that I hope doesn't end up totally forgotten.

Either way, I hope the Game Boy games don't end up being the last classic games we see make a return. Pokemon Bank makes it really fun to revisit these games, knowing you can easily add transfer those classic Pokemon to the newer titles.
I do really want to see the GBA and DS games re-released with Bank support at some point just to have all games compatible going forward.

Both of these very much. I'm actually just a little surprised it hasn't already happened with RSE, but I suppose we are just now getting far enough away from the release of ORAS.

The GC games being given this treatment is a wildly cool prospect, though. Guess I should wait for Nintendo to start supporting GC titles on the Switch at all in the first place haha

The shows not real time battles, its an approximation of the turn based battles.
Would be nice if turned base battles in the game started to look closer to how anime battles look. Pokémon actually making contact and reacting, dodging instead of the move magically missing and not happening at all. Would be cool if you could have a dodge command in the game, and your Pokémon would attempt to dodge the attack. Depending on the speed of your Pokémon, and the accuracy of the attack it would calculate the chances of successfully dodging. Gamefreak just have to figure out how to make all this a smooth transition from one move to the next, so that battles are not too long.

Speaking of the older games and compatibility with Pokemon Bank and what not, I wish we had single player only eShope releases akin to the VC Gen 1 and 2 releases, however as remakes. Do all the games in a Gen 5 HD style, slowly going through Gens 1-6 with new additions besides obvious stuff like megas, regional variants and the fairy type. I dunno if this makes sense or sounds appealing, I just feel like as the series marches forward with a more 3D overworld, it would be nice to balance it out with a more traditional style game, just not full priced and big budget like Lets Go.

While I certainly wouldn't mind animation improvements to make things look flashier (like its odd how moves that miss don't play an animation), as a competitive player, I can assure you that a dodge action would be EXTREMELY unpopular. Pokemon has enough matches that come down to dice rolls as it is, wether its moves with a 95% chance of hitting missing (looking at you Rock Tomb and Icy Wind!), secondary effects like flinch and status inflication, or if you play on the 3DS, stuff like Moody, Pokemon has plenty of factors of luck in it already. Having a function to just dodge attacks would introduce more luck in a game that really doesn't need any more of it!

That's not to say that I wouldn't mind changes to the battle system. As long as Pokemon remains turn based, theres plenty of interesting things that can be done. Hell, look at what gen 4 did with the famous "physical special split". Before gen 4, moves being special or physical depended on their type. Every since gen 4 however, attacks were classified as physical or special regardless of their typing, which was a MASSIVE change to the battle system! I think there's plenty of room for inovation here. I guess I'd just prefer that inovation doesn't focus on increasing the luck factor in the game.

I'm thinking TPCi will hold a much more public Pokemon Conference like last year, livestream and all. Pokemon Quest free AOC, Pokemon Bank, and Gen 8.

Weird to not really see any rumors gaining traction either because before we had a lot leading up to reveal of previous games.

It's (fake) leak season friends, are these starters real or fake?

The art style isn't close.

Also, the beaver and bunny are just worse versions of the platypus/rabbit fake leaks from a year ago.

There also another one, but I think it was after those other fakemons showed up.

That one is that I most liked. It has a grass eletric bear.

I sorta wish they do an evolution on Shiny Pokemon now. Just one shiny colour per mon is a bit dull, espicially when some of the early generation ones aren't that good looking. Plus... I sorta have all the ones I want it this point already (Although still missing that Game Boy Mimikyu one, still gotta get that one)

That or employ other aspects of customisation. Even more minor stuff like Male/Female differences, or even silly customisation items like Hats and such, even if it's only a small list shared by all and at certain pivot points (Think Tekken 7 with it's customisation on generic items).

I appreciate that shiny Pokemon are supposed to be these rarities, but what I'd really like to see is more abundant variations like we see in nature and I kind of feel like shinies hold those back. (Mostly because a lot of them are kind of dull though, shinies could still exist as long as they look special enough in this scenario.)

Thinking about last year thread, there are at least 4 points that were often discussed that should be added/fixed in those games (if LG is any indication) :

- Bring back Pokemon following you
- Proper scale for the Pokemon
- Pokemon's colors are no longer muted (compared to the 3DS games)
- Pokemon in the overworld

Those were major points for some people so I am glad they improved the presentation greatly.

My Black 2 playthrough is giving me some further guidance on what I'd like to see with Gen 8. Here are a few scattered thoughts.

Let's avoid the Audino trick. I'm taking advantage of it of course, but it feels bland to be targeting a specific Pokémon with specific parameters (rustling bushes) everywhere I go whenever I want to strengthen my team. Am I missing something or is this the best approach throughout the entire game? I'm grateful there's some way to level up more quickly, given the scaled experience system, but a bit more diversity would be nice.

I'm pretty amazed by how many side activities I've found. Battle Subway, Poke Star Studios, the musical facility and more. I have a hunch the Gen 8 launch games won't be too heavy on this stuff but even a little eclecticism can go a long way.

Not sure if these were in Gens 6 and 7 (I can't remember for 6 and I've barely touched 7 yet) but some more day-specific events might be fun. The only one I've run into in Black 2 so far has been the weekend gathering in that trainyard town, but it's still pretty cool.

I'm loving the relative scarcity of things like Rare Candies after playing through Let's Go. Just one Rare Candy costs 24 Battle Points at the Battle Subway — I beat seven trainers and got like 3! I'd like Game Freak to move toward a tougher game again.

Speaking of tougher, is it purely anecdotal or is Black 2 kind of hard? Not truly hard, of course, but modestly more challenging than most Pokémon games. I know I'm just coming off of one of the easiest entries, if not the easiest, but still. Gym levels are legitimately appreciable at average leveling paces and trainer movesets aren't abysmal. And I haven't even unlocked hard mode! More of this, please.

Another plus for Black 2 is how creative some of these gyms have been. I'm up to four badges now and they've been getting better and better. The one-two combo of the rollercoaster and the catwalk in Nimbasa City is absolutely hilarious. Bring back gyms, Game Freak, and when you do, bring back this sterling creativity. (I can probably do without the lyrical stuff though. <.<)

maybe unrealistic but i hope all the pokemon have new models & animations & the art style is similar to sun & moon but more fluid and cel shaded like a cartoon. is it to much to ask for voice acting?

you're not going to get new models or animations. maybe some new animations on top of the existing ones, but not new models or textures

Ooooh I enjoy reading thoughts on BW2. Is this your first time with the game? I somewhat recently revisited White 2 and adored it all over again.

I agree with your general take on difficulty. It's nice being encouraged to do more than switch in a supereffective move and spam. I made pretty frequent use of debuffs, for example. As for Audino, it's certainly the most straightforward way to level in the wild, but I think most areas have at least a couple of "standard" high level mons that can be used if you're lacking exp. It just so happens that Audino is the "cheesiest" way, if you will. I guess whether or not I choose to go the Audino route depends on how eager I am to get to the next place. Though I think Unova as a region has so many little side areas and branches off of the main routes that simply exploring and finding items while battling wild Pokemon gets me where I need to be. One thing I'm not stoked about is that the difficulty choices aren't unlocked from the beginning. Like you said, BW2 are modestly more challenging than other games, but I wouldn't have minded being able to select hard mode from the start and make it even more challenging.

The side activities are pretty stellar here too, though far and away the best one for my money is PWT. It's flashy, fun, and fanservicey to the max. I would be stunned in the best possible way if they ever brought it back in a 3D game (as unlikely as that is due to needing to make 3D models for all those characters vs sprites). Battle Subway is really great too! The musicals were never my thing, but PokeStar Studios was very cool. Also the secret reward for clearing the version-exclusive facilities is really rad. Agreed on the gyms as well; between BW1 and 2 they're the best in the series for me, and that goes for their rendition of the gym building theme as well. Speaking of gym music, the leader battle theme is banging and it's amazing how it changes when they get down to their last party member. Bring that back to the series please.

I just yesterday started what is likely my 7th or 8th ever playthrough of Pokemon White because goodness I just cannot get enough of this generation. There are just still so many Gen 5 Pokemon with which I want to build a campaign team. Nostalgia for the feeling of first playing BW1 for the first time will always make them edge out BW2 from the sentimentality angle, but technically BW2 builds on the first game in almost every way. It's difficult for me to separate the two experiences, so I'll just say that both of them combined are my favorite Pokemon game(s) ever by quite a large margin.

And now you know why Gen 5 to gen 6 caused that much conversation in the fandom and still does. Just the side activites and gyms are enough to contest about a drop in quality, but then its also stuff like the little details in the world, the story, seasons which added another level of depth to the world, and so much more. Especially the overworld. There hasn't been anything on the level of finding the Castelia City Sewer detours with the Eevee Garden or the back Alleu bike gang, going back to the Relic Castle and finding an early game Larvesta, finding all the goodies and being creeped out by the Haunted House in Lentimas Town, finding the seaside cave, and also going back to early areas to find a nice chunk of new trainers and areas to discover again. Then the post game throws all the old areas you didn't explore already back at you to have some fun with, and there is a huge, entirely optional dungeon with Clay's Mines, one of the best dungeons in the entire series. Don't worry, not spoiling anything, just the names which are already on the map . You are gonna love it later on. Gen 5 just knocked it out of the park, and Gamefreak completely tossed it to the side only to pick up some of its nuaces again in Gen 7, but still muddled with Gen 6s baffling choices. Gen 8 needs to pick up the slack and take off from where Gen 5 left off, no doubt about it

I wonder what we're getting for the first route traditions this time. A heron or crane would be nice for the final stage of the bird, maybe ending up as Fighting/Flying or Ghost/Flying.

Is there a specific twitter account or site that I should be looking at when fake starters make the rounds?

I haven't seen this batch with the Pocahontas raccoon, for example.

I think they should do a mole for the rodent. Do a cute version of their weird, ugly star nose. Maybe a bat for the first route flyer that becomes flying ghost or dark.
