It's not a side game, I don't know why people who make the game can say it's mainline and then have that debunked by normal users. I'd not be surprised if the let's go series replaces the remake line of games.

It is a remake yes, a remake of a mainline game, making it a mainline game. Fire Red/Leaf Green, Heart Gold/Soul Silver, etc, are not side games either and they sell similarly to regular releases. Usually trending just a few million behind. A spin off is Pokemon Snap, not this.

I already got the Pikachu edition pre ordered I'm really excited about it actually.. I'm always up to go back to Kanto especially in HD!

Switch owners have proven time and time again how hungry they are for new games, breaking all sorts of series records, so I'm expecting a new mainline game level of success even with experienced Pokémon players like myself bowing out because of how casualized it seems.

I would guess 8-12m. If there's going to be a bomba, it'll be the sequel. Who knows though, I could be surprised and it's actually a great game, I'm sure hoping it is

True, but I wouldn't call it mainline, this is more spin off with the changes to catching wild pokemon etc. Although could help as people love POGO.

Technically pokemon pinball and Pokemon stadium 1 both surpassed 5 million with 5.3 and 5.4 million units sold. But this will certainly blow those numbers out of the water.
