Police Officer Calls Out Burger King for Putting Dirt in Burger...

...then deletes his post and doesn't follow up after it was pointed out that his "dirt" was just the seasoning.

Basically, dude played the victim, went viral, got people pissed at the local franchise, and then went radio silent.

Fort Myers police Officer Tim McCormick posted on Facebook about a meal he was recently served at a Burger King, writing the burger looked like it had dirt on it but didn't notice it until he was down to the last bite. He then tossed the sandwich.

Burger King franchise officials were quick to investigate. "This has my full and undivided attention," said Dan Fitzpatrick, CEO and chairman of Quality Dining Inc., the franchisee who operates the Burger King restaurant.
Fitzpatrick said that after the officers watched the video they determined that nothing inappropriate had happened to the food cooked for McCormick.

So what was it?

As part of the prep process for cooking the meat, Fitzpatrick said, there is a salt and pepper blend applied to the food. He said it is possible that the spice mixture, as well as the flame-broiled grilling process itself, may have left particles the officer thought was dirt.

There was no response to an online request for comment from McCormick.

The post has since been taken down or hidden.

I’m sure it was a silly mistake on the officers part. Don’t know why he would want to spite that specific Burger King.

I’m not sure who looks worse here - Burger King or the police officer.
Shitty burger vs dumb cop is a tough one.

Is it a white cop? He's not used to seeing seasoning on food.

Raisins on it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for his burgers.

The last thing you want in your burger king burger is dirt. But as it turns out, that might not be what you get.

Guy from around the area said there were protests at this burger king because of it. Good grief.

Weird. I'm white and cook with bay leaf all the time :shrugs:
It is kind of unpleasant when you forget to take them out after cooking or you can't find them so you just leave them in and then you randomly get a bite of weird, wet-but-papery leaf.

But I know it's just a food-safe leaf and it's not going to kill me.

How could anyone make tikka masala without bay leaf?

Australia
This proves two things, American cops are not the smartest of the bunch, as we pretty much know, and that once they get called out on something stupid, bad or negative they will try to avoid responsibility as much as possible. Not a surprise tbh.

How do you confuse seasoning with dirt? I’m sure the employees had some bags of dirt lying around to add to their burgers?

Ah geez, I was just in Fort Myers today...

Yeah, I'm not surprised about this. In this section of SouthWest Florida, "specifically" Fort Myers? This little city has a really bad history of segregation for decades upon decades. It was actually the most segregated city back in the day. Its really sad....

Spent 10 years down here (from NYC), and I personally know white and black police officers. Even went to church with a couple of them. But yeah, clean and dirty cops everywhere. Let's just say there's a lot of grime in this city.

Makes sense, I can't even count the times I've left the grill, went outside, dug up dirt from the hedges, and gave a cop a dirty burger.

Does it count as dirt when it tastes like pure salt? I’ve had a few meals where I’ve scrapped seasoning off cause I thought I was licking on a salt block.

Haha. Definitely unpleasant. And how could anyone make a LOT of things without bay leaf?

Bay leaves are the shit in most soups. Low and slow with those babies. Been making a mean creamy pea soup with 'em for months now.
They def. shouldn't be left in the finished product tho lmao
They add a really nice herby sweetness to anything cooked slowly for sure.
