Oh no! Should Bernie's camp be concerned?

DES MOINES, Iowa — A small group of Democratic National Committee members has privately begun gauging support for a plan to potentially weaken Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign and head off a brokered convention.

In conversations on the sidelines of a DNC executive committee meeting and in telephone calls and texts in recent days, about a half-dozen members have discussed the possibility of a policy reversal to ensure that so-called superdelegates can vote on the first ballot at the party's national convention. Such a move would increase the influence of DNC members, members of Congress and other top party officials, who now must wait until the second ballot to have their say if the convention is contested.

Are the half a dozen DNC members trying to run away with the votes?

This is silly, as if you are going to win a second vote the first vote doesn't matter.

If they actually try something like this they'd massively piss off a lot of Bernie supporters who will then stay home in far bigger numbers than in 2016 and Trump will cruise to re-election. These DNC members would rather commit general election suicide than have President Bernie.

Did they not learn anything about 2016? It's a good thing it's only a few members or else I'd think the DNC went fully nuts.

This would allow media to post super delegate votes in the delegate tallies during the primary, wouldn't it.

A half dozen, but sure let's make this as us vs them as possible.

Edit: Legit proud that Era members aren't taking the bait.

DNC really wants Trump to win I guess.
More than they want Bernie to win, for sure.

Keep in mind that its customary for the Dem. President to choose a DNC chair, so Bernie winning would rock the SHIT out of their cushy, corrupt asses (and their jobs). Expect nothing but the worst from Perez & Co.

This thread is an experiment in who reads just the thread title before posting vs. who reads absolutely anything else in the OP.

This feels like just another Bernout conspiracy theory. If we were going to rig the primaries again through rules it would have already been done.

Bernie's a huge variance candidate in a race we don't want to lose certainly can't afford to lose big.

Instead expect party leaders to get into a more active role in torpedoing him if he takes early stages.

6 people out of a 200+ person organization.
Some of yall are so lazy with your threads

You're probably right, but as a layman, I have no idea what it takes to make these rule changes. I also don't know how much pull these 6 have with the other members. This should be quickly followed up with the other 194 members telling them to knock it the fuck off.

Lol yeah, this is pretty obviously a handful of bitter old timers without any ability to do anything. The DNC obviously has issues, but most of those issues are about being a bunch of bumbling idiots running in 17 different directions at once, not about being a dangerous cabal capable of pulling of this sort of shadow coup.

Locking because a) this is kinda just nonsense and b) the extent to which it isn't can be discussed in the Primary OT
