Well probably supporting the paycheck(s?) of some very, very edgy (the absolute most charitable interpretation) person who regularly hangs out on a kiddie porn site. It's all just rumors but whoever worked closely with "shoutout to Mark" is certainly very suspicious and the responses they gave to the posts are vile especially the loli one and the homophobic one.

If they properly apologized and ousted the moron or morons who decided to do this shit, I'd be satisfied. So would a number of people who boycotted. Hell, I work in a company and if someone did that in the US, that person would be on the street in 6 hours, thrown out on their ass by my boss. Not even for moral reasons but for potentially harming morale within the company, and hurting the company image.

If you decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they are internally investigating but who knows. Heard it's harder to fire someone in the EU. Like I said before. If I can't get morally fucking 'outraged' over THQN choosing to associate with a child porn image board, then what else is there to say? Nah, I'm willing to put my money inside my wallet, even if the rest of the gaming community won't. It won't make a difference IMO but it's not as if I ever cared about how the herd went.
I agree. There's no doubt that the actions of some notable people at THQ essentially legitimised a criminal platform. If I ever did buy a game from THQ, I rightfully would never defend it by using some bullshit "but the poor developers!" excuse. That would be handwaiving this whole situation and a mockery of all the victims of 8chan and their ilk.

Bad reasons not to buy a game

Nah. My individual purchase won't make any actual difference on THQN's bottom line so abstaining from their games only hurts me and has no effect on them.

Yeah, part of the poll's results can obviously be accounted for by OP cramming all possible options other than "never again" under Yes.

Which seems... ill-reasoned if you're actually trying to gauge how people feel.
If someone genuinely cared about the wording of the poll, they wouldn't have voted in the first place.

Amazing poll OP! Glad this is a yes or no situation when the situation can change which would make those yes or no options not in line with what people think.

What a useless thread with a terrible poll.
What's the situation that'll change? They'll apologize and you will move on?

"We forgive you, King"?

In case folks can't see what the poll is at:

YAEGgE4.jpg

So much for "the gaming industry is not holding THQ accountable" when the hypocrites themselves will buy the game if THQ gives a second try at this apology? Lol. I thought the time for apology is way gone. The train has left the station, and y'all standing there with your wallets open.

THQ nordic has to satisfy these two conditions before I'll purchase a game from them:

1. Give a candid response and create the impression they care about the wider gaming community rather than the worst of it. This may require them to fire some people.
2. Make a game worth giving a toss about.

The second might prove more difficult for them to satisfy.

Thank you, this is pretty much my take on this exactly.

Also, if I stopped consuming entertainment made by people linked to paedophilia, there'd be no entertainment at all.

Prove that claim. Do you have a single ounce of evidence, or is it something you're saying simply to make yourself feel better for being complicit?

I'm not going to stop buying a game from a developer I like because their publisher are dicks.

nah. At the end of the day, there are two possible results. You buy their games again or you don't. OP is getting those results from Era members, today, as the situation currently stands. I think it's interesting.

I voted No but it's really not that simple

Like what about stuff like this?
where's the "yes but only in a humble bundle where i can give 100% of the money to a charity instead without giving THQ a single cent" option

Wont ever buy a game again seems harsh.
If stupid PR was disqualifying, I'd probably never play anything.

Know what else harms everyone at the company?

Encouraging workplace toxicity and the association of the brand and all its affiliates with pedophilia, bigotry, neo naziism, and all sorts of criminal activity.

Everyone at the company is already hurting until those involved are dealt with and the brand restored.
That's very true.

I wonder if many developers at THQ N. have already hit the road and left after this incident.

Let's take TV/Movies for example. If I were to boycott everyone who worked with Kevin Spacey, I wouldn't have a lot of options left. Musically, I would lose a lot of options around Michael Jackson. And bear in mind these are people who were, or were possibly, active paedophiles, rather than just posting on a board where paedophiles also posted.

THQ Nordic is on my shitlist alongside Warhorse (ironically recently purchased by THQN), and Gearbox. They're getting nothing from me until the people responsible are shitcanned and an actual apology is given, not that "oh we didn't know~" bullshit they're serving up right now.

Ill buy from them when the peeps involved are no longer with the company. Should reboot the thread with a conditional option.

Until Phillip, Fabian, and Reinhard leave the company, I won't be buying a single game from them.

I don't knowingly give money to people who support the scum of society.

None of their stuff interested me anyway. Only a new Saints Row would maybe turn my head, but only if impressions were really good.

I don't buy many games of them either way and i guess that won't change in the future. But i'm not gonna punish all studios they purchase (and they will probably purchase even more going forward) for a disgusting AMA.

As of now they only have 2 games/IPs i'm potentially interested in. Metro and in the far future Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (Koch bought Warhorse studios recently, not a friend of that, but what to do?).

Like I don't usually subscribe to company-wide boycotts. I have said this before a lot of times in as many ways. Usually I feel that a broad approach doesn't work, and that people should have the chance to be better. But the vileness of this situation, where THQ Nordic knowingly boosted and engaged in racist, bigoted, pedophilic content, and continued to do so even after pointed out (so no excuse of ignorance would apply here), then refused to have any strong statement or apology, and deflected the issue, and their PR has actively refused to acknowledge the issue since...

Like this shouldn't be hard. "Should I support child porn, or just not play video games?"

But can't let conscience get in the way of vidya, am I right?

Then the thread shouldn't be asking how people "really feel", since feelings often tend to be a bit more complicated than yes and no.

The lack of any nuance or conditions means I have no choice but to vote Yes.

I can't in good conscious say I will NEVER EVER buy a THQ Nordic game again in my life, there's too many variables involved.

If stupid PR was disqualifying, I'd probably never play anything.

This would be very different if they just got tricked into doing this, then immediately took down the AMA after realizing what kind of site this was, apologized profusely for it, fired the PR person, donated money to charitable causes that are victims of this type of criminal activity, and publicly showed steps they were going to take to make sure this never happened again.

1.They knew what this site was
2.They answered questions about loli's and SJWs
3.The AMA was up for over half a day
4.The person responsible did not apologize until after it blew up online
5.The person responsible has not been fired or disciplined in any way as far we know
6.THQ has not commented
7.THQ is not responding to questions about this and clearly believes it will just blow over

There's no coming back from this, at some point you have to take a stand and show that this type of behavior is not acceptable.

Management and whoever was involved at THQ made a huge error doing the 8chan thing, like seriously wtf were they thinking ? (clearly they weren't thinking) but if their developers make good games, I'm going to keep playing them.

Everyone makes mistakes, and I believe they made a big one here. But I do also believe that they realise this and are being contrite. So I'm open to giving people the opportunity to apologise and grow. You just have to draw the line where you personally feel it is right.

If you have a different opnion, that's cool too.

Your argument would be a lot stronger if you yourself were actually aware whether or not both of them were a pedophile, and didn't preface them with "possibly".

Honestly, I would rather not purchase their games. Issue is that the I might pick up one on sale some time far into the future on some large sale.

Personally, I was really interested in Metro Exodus and it is such a shame that THQN became a turd bucket.

Thing is, after having read multiple posts on who the people are, what the employee rights are in Austria and how most of the industry (both journalistic and publishers) mostly ignored it; a large number who did admonish, did so with a huge caveat of painting THQN as being utterly ignorant (despite the blatant evidence proving otherwise) and a small number who actually called their behaviour out without reservation.

In the end, given the lack of any consequence would eventually disappear leaving behind a strengthened GG crowd, smug with the knowledge that they are not some outlier or pariah of the gaming culture.

Again though, at the end of the day, people will either buy the games or they won't. How they feel about the situation doesn't change the fact that the outcome is binary.

If people want to share their more nuanced feelings in the thread, that's what replies are for.
