Also, if I stopped consuming entertainment made by people linked to paedophilia, there'd be no entertainment at all.
I agree. There's no doubt that the actions of some notable people at THQ essentially legitimised a criminal platform. If I ever did buy a game from THQ, I rightfully would never defend it by using some bullshit "but the poor developers!" excuse. That would be handwaiving this whole situation and a mockery of all the victims of 8chan and their ilk.Well probably supporting the paycheck(s?) of some very, very edgy (the absolute most charitable interpretation) person who regularly hangs out on a kiddie porn site. It's all just rumors but whoever worked closely with "shoutout to Mark" is certainly very suspicious and the responses they gave to the posts are vile especially the loli one and the homophobic one.
If they properly apologized and ousted the moron or morons who decided to do this shit, I'd be satisfied. So would a number of people who boycotted. Hell, I work in a company and if someone did that in the US, that person would be on the street in 6 hours, thrown out on their ass by my boss. Not even for moral reasons but for potentially harming morale within the company, and hurting the company image.
If you decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they are internally investigating but who knows. Heard it's harder to fire someone in the EU. Like I said before. If I can't get morally fucking 'outraged' over THQN choosing to associate with a child porn image board, then what else is there to say? Nah, I'm willing to put my money inside my wallet, even if the rest of the gaming community won't. It won't make a difference IMO but it's not as if I ever cared about how the herd went.
If someone genuinely cared about the wording of the poll, they wouldn't have voted in the first place.Yeah, part of the poll's results can obviously be accounted for by OP cramming all possible options other than "never again" under Yes.
Which seems... ill-reasoned if you're actually trying to gauge how people feel.
What's the situation that'll change? They'll apologize and you will move on?Amazing poll OP! Glad this is a yes or no situation when the situation can change which would make those yes or no options not in line with what people think.
What a useless thread with a terrible poll.
THQ nordic has to satisfy these two conditions before I'll purchase a game from them:
1. Give a candid response and create the impression they care about the wider gaming community rather than the worst of it. This may require them to fire some people.
2. Make a game worth giving a toss about.
The second might prove more difficult for them to satisfy.
Also, if I stopped consuming entertainment made by people linked to paedophilia, there'd be no entertainment at all.
Somehow I doubt thatAlso, if I stopped consuming entertainment made by people linked to paedophilia, there'd be no entertainment at all.
nah. At the end of the day, there are two possible results. You buy their games again or you don't. OP is getting those results from Era members, today, as the situation currently stands. I think it's interesting.Yeah, part of the poll's results can obviously be accounted for by OP cramming all possible options other than "never again" under Yes.

2. - You can't see the results until you've voted (i would ask other members to not post the results in the thread)

where's the "yes but only in a humble bundle where i can give 100% of the money to a charity instead without giving THQ a single cent" option
That would obviously be a "no" vote.I voted No but it's really not that simple
Like what about stuff like this?
Nah. My individual purchase won't make any actual difference on THQN's bottom line so abstaining from their games only hurts me and has no effect on them.
It's ridiculous though. Just like this thread.
That's very true.Know what else harms everyone at the company?
Encouraging workplace toxicity and the association of the brand and all its affiliates with pedophilia, bigotry, neo naziism, and all sorts of criminal activity.
Everyone at the company is already hurting until those involved are dealt with and the brand restored.
naw, its not really, dont give lurkers ammo
Prove that claim. Do you have a single ounce of evidence, or is it something you're saying simply to make yourself feel better for being complicit?
Let them eat cake. It's hilarious.
you serious with this post?Let's take TV/Movies for example. If I were to boycott everyone who worked with Kevin Spacey, I wouldn't have a lot of options left. Musically, I would lose a lot of options around Michael Jackson. And bear in mind these are people who were, or were possibly, active paedophiles, rather than just posting on a board where paedophiles also posted.
I do out of a silly feeling of civic duty but I fully recognize that's illogical too (at least under my philosophy, boycotts definitely make sense to someone who follows other schools of thought like Kant's categorical imperative)
That's not what's happening here. People have said as much.If someone genuinely cared about the wording of the poll, they wouldn't have voted in the first place.
Then the thread shouldn't be asking how people "really feel", since feelings often tend to be a bit more complicated than yes and no.nah. At the end of the day, there are two possible results. You buy their games again or you don't. OP is getting those results from Era members, today, as the situation currently stands. I think it's interesting.
Wont ever buy a game again seems harsh.
If stupid PR was disqualifying, I'd probably never play anything.

Again though, at the end of the day, people will either buy the games or they won't. How they feel about the situation doesn't change the fact that the outcome is binary. Then the thread shouldn't be asking how people "really feel", since feelings often tend to be a bit more complicated than yes and no.
How does this work? Aren't those keys still purchased at some point, just maybe from a region where the value of the currency makes the price lower?
Bad reasons not to buy a game
Giving money to people endorsing child pornography
