It solidified VR for me as not just a gimmick. I was full aboard the 'vr lul' train until RE7.

IMO, Nier Automata should not be higher than Persona 5, but I'm happy to see P5 high on a list, regardless.

Yakuza 0 can't catch a break.

PUBG infront of Mario or even Persona is weird to me. Fun game but not better than those, especially in its current state.
This list reminds me that I need to return to Nier and put more time into it, same with Horizon.

Definitely. I thought it was awesome without VR. With? Whole different kettle of fish. Wish I'd done VR the first go around. Would've been genuinely terrifying.

Cool to see NieR Automata so high, though I would definitely rank it #1. I think it will go down as a benchmark of narrative innovation in the medium. It's so well-written.

If it makes you feel better I had to stream it and talk to my friends while playing it because I was too much of a baby to do it alone. Oh, and it took me probably 30+ gameplay sessions to get through it.
