Trying to watch the wallet so I passed.

I also feel like the main Patricia Arquette likeness is wonky. Almost looks like she's cross-eyed. Overall a great piece though imo love the colors.

Got my two Eng's from Cook & Becker today. Really wish I had gotten the larger format for The Rider but the $100 premium is ludicrous. Crazy that their prints went on sale, shipped, and arrived from NL faster than the Black Dragon prints.

I find that Aquaman image hilarious for some reason- is he just like "check out what I can do y'all I'm Aquaman"?

It's basically the end of the year, and we should post our favorite pick-ups with some pics!

I was finally able to get the Daniel Danger Wonder Wheel/Cyclone Set this year, and it's so fucking rad, and helps me think about the few positive things about Southern Brooklyn:

I still don't have a Daniel Danger print but seeing them in person, I was shook. I had a chance to buy the black and white box set but honestly, the colors add so much.

Yeah, in person, his prints are really fucking beautiful, for the most part. Some of the older ones don't hold up, specifically the darker ones, due to printing, but everything in recent years has been stunning in person.

And agreed, keyline art rarely does it for me. It's impressive because it shows off every line Daniel puts into the pieces, but it completely takes away the mood/atmosphere of his work, which is a disservice, I'd say.

Daniel Danger's line work is really detailed, but the colors don't really take away from that. That one print that is like an wooden elephant thing on fire was beautiful. The double speak in secrets and codes one was gorgeous. I wish I had picked up the art print for the NIN show.

Just chiming in to say I agree with everything y'all are saying.

I spent way too much on prints this year to the point I had some regret pangs as of late. I'll take some photos later though and do a shame summary for the thread.

Also slug, that Wonder Wheel one is super, congrats on that pickup.

That's my resolution. Hop on less commissions. I'm on this Knights of the Old Republic Raid71 commission and I seriously don't even like Raid71 and will never in a million years hang a damn star wars poster in my house.

I did a good job not buying a lot of art this year, although I kind of bought a lot the last month or so.

I generally stay away from commissions and will continue to do so.

My favorite pickup of the year is that Eng Zelda ALTTP print, which is from a commission I was not a part of. I think I'm good with paying after market and not being in most of the good commissions, considering how infrequently I feel like I've got to have one.

Thanks! I spent way too much as well, despite cutting down drastically. And heck yeah, I kind of love the name Shame Summary 2018
Got the Cotton Candy Machine variant for those. They're a great diptych.
Share some pics :).
I'm in four different commissions right now including two for The Office and I don't know why I am doing both.
Here's what I learned in 2018: DONT JUMP HEADFIRST INTO PRIVATE COMMISSIONS. The majority are dreck, despite the commissioners themselves hyping their own shit up.

They're all in a foamcore sandwich. But this is the Wonder Wheel:

1k164Px.jpg

For some reason, can't find a picture of the Cyclone.

Best pick ups for me this year has to be, the Ise Ananphada Twin Peaks print. Wasn't in the commission, so had to get it in the aftermarket.

Qe6OEDh.jpg

And the Durieux Elevator to the Gallows art print.

Best OG... technically, I paid for it last year, but it came this year:

Yeah, I've cut down on my commissions quite a bit. But there are certain people doing it who seem to always knock it out of the park. When they post something, I can't help but jump in (if it's a property I care about it).

My favourite print in general this year was a commission, Thief by Robert Sammelin:

I'm happy commissions exist because they can do so many properties that the galleries won't / can't. Adds variety. One can only take so many Blade Runner, Alien and Marvel prints from the big boys.

Yet I am in an Infinity War/Endgame commission by Juan Ramos. So excited for that though, he's rad as hell.

There is very rarely a commission I see that makes me wish I was in the commission group or go for it on the aftermarket.

That said let me know if anyone does a commission for Commando please.

I finally caved and bought those Matt Ferguson Ghibli prints he did a while back- Porco Rosso and Nausicaa. Kept skipping them and watching the price slowly creep up so I said sure why not.

Also got two of the original (I think?) Mitchell portraits- Ash and Tarantino's character from Pulp Fiction. Happy I have them but also that's about when I started to realize I need to chill the fuck out for a while. 2019 goals, buy less!

Super happy with how that James Jean Sun Tarot looks hung up though- it's really great. The gold bits that catch the light when the room is darker are a really nice touch.

So at work, we're moving offices temporarily because of renovations. Packing up all my framed/unframed stuff here is killing me. Moving sucks. (Although, it also helps validate for me plexi > glass.)

I think I'd pick this as my favorite pickup for the year.

I was looking back and realized I didn't buy that many prints this year. Here's to hoping I can stay strong next year too

Sun Tarot is def dope. For some reason I framed up the Jean Blade Runner thing first. I think I was just excited to see how the holographic foil would look behind museum glass. The Sun Tarot print was my favorite overall but dude keeps releasing that shit in variants. At this point I'm sorta sick of the image.

Just pre-ordered the baroque portfolio; I'll comment on quality once it gets here!
I've had one for a few months, I love it. So convenient if you're lacking storage space.

Have like 20 pieces in there already. If I'm not framing something after it's flattened, I just stick it in there and slide it back under my bed lol

edit: they even sell 18 x 24 sleeves that you can slot in there. Bought a pack of those for a few smaller prints.

Yea for storage it's really nice. For 18x 24 and smaller I feel like the cheap one at amazon is just as nice though.

Eric Garza's Top Posters of 2018

This poster was originally planned for release at MondoCon 2015. Three years later and it's still just as gorgeous and perfect of a poster as it was all those years ago. I think we had alluded at MondoTalk in 2016 that that there was a poster pending approval that many, if not all, agreed was the best poster Mondo had ever done... this is it. Praise be for Martin Ansin.

That Sachin Teng Mega Man is real cool- one of those prints I kind of want but know it would just live in a tube or portfolio (still no flat file here... maybe one day).
