At the end of the day, most cons are shitty cash vacuums. The screening tickets are a pain in the ass. It's gotten harder and harder to get tickets.
I dig Mondo Con, but also half the reason for me to go to Austin is just to eat good food.
Screening tickets are gone instantly. It's unfortunate they do not do multiple screenings, but to their credit they have released some variants at the con for the screenings in case you were not able to make it (the witch, labyrinth). It's also cool meeting with the artists and really the best way to score original art. The food is also great in Austin. I live in MN and have made the trip down every year, but this is the first year I'm not going. It's a combination of trying to spend so much on posters and also that I am actively trying to get rid of my massive collection that started 10 years ago. I'm past the dream of thinking I'll get everything framed up and on a wall. I just don't really care anymore. I'm really only hunting down posters for stuff I truly love these days. Give me a Stout Hot Fuzz and Eng Shadow of the Colossus and I'll be good for awhile.
I have mine framed up. I'll have to take a pic and post it in this thread!I'm okay with over paying for one or two standout prints from each MC and not having to deal with the hassle otherwise.
That said, one year, maybe I'll try it. Maybe!
Completely unrelated, I brought the Ash Thorp Gray Fox to the framers this weekend (along with a few other things) after having it sit in storage for years. Nothing crazy, but excited to get it framed and displayed finally.
