Pornstar August Ames commits suicide after harassment

in the last couple days, August was saying she didn’t wanna work with bi male porn stars because of testing. She has been getting harassment online and offline. Today she has pass away, can’t find anything official but pornstars on Twitter have said she died.
She was 23

it's a typo, bi-male.

She was supposed to shoot a movie with a pornstar whose done gay porn.

On December 3, Ames’ caused a stir on social media when she tweeted that she had refused to work with male adult film performers in a shoot for the porn studio EroticaX.

Ames received immediate backlash for her rant, with various gay porn performers accusing her of being homophobic.

She tweeted: “Whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews, you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know. BS is all I can say. Do agents really not care about who they’re representing? #LAdirect I do my homework for my body.”

Ames’ page was quickly flooded with criticism over the controversial tweet, but she was quick to shut down her haters, insisting she’s not homophobic. “NOT homophobic,” she said in a tweet, adding, “Most girls don’t shoot with guys who have shot gay porn, for safety. That’s just how it is with me. I’m not putting my body at risk, i don’t know what they do in their private lives.”

Sex workers get treated like absolute shit. I know a girl who does the odd cam show now and then, and the harassment she gets is unreal. “You do porn, so you MUST want dick pics and unwanted sext messages!” It really is a sad, cruel world we live in.

May she rest in peace. Her comments were extremely homophobic. And spreading misinformation about male porn stars was just a really vile thing to do.

Holy shit. Like wow, that news is terrible. Shame she got such flack for a relatively low key opinion that was mostly health focused, which is rather important in the adult biz.

That is a good question I am also posing myself very often, especially on the internet. If people behaved at least on the internet like humans, the world would be a better place already.

Anyways, RIP. I would guess she is not alone in the adult industry though so I hope others may receive help before they choose the last exit.

That's terrible. I don't disagree that she was being kind of homophobic but some people probably took it too far. Hopefully unrelated to her suicide.

While I'm not downplaying the harassment, it seems like she had been depressed and this was more of a straw that broke the camels back

They were related to her health and in the sex business, that is important. Her being called homophobic because of this is a dangerous reach to claim about her.

I don't agree with her homophobic comments, but nobody should be harassed into taking their own life. Sounds like she was already struggling with depression, which everyone knows is no joke. RIP.

I guess this is a typical thing where some people are fairly critical, and then some unpleasant people latch onto that because they smell blood in the water. Seems to have pushed this person over the edge and that's a real shame, I only wish there was some reflection on the part of people that participated in the harassment but I doubt it unfortunately.

What goes through the mind of someone who tries to tell an adult performer what they can and cannot do with their body? Shit is entertainment, she doesn't have to sleep with anyone she doesn't want to.

As an aside, I'm gonna go ahead and not click on the social media profiles of porn stars at work.
