They've been wanting to move tot hat for a while. Gears of War is just the franchise.
That's what I was thinking. Looks a bit fake to me, but looks fine. If it's real, what a way to find out about the Queen returning.
Doubt it. The central face on the cover looks terrible, like she's put together in a low-rent create-a character tool.

I loved Gears and Halo during the 360 gen, it's a shame I don't really care much now. Hopefully that'll change.

I feel like they are saving space around the sides so that they can slide in review quotes later.
Everyone refers to the series as "Gears" so Rod Fergusson (studio head) decided to shorten it.
Box art looks dope (especially compared to Gears 4) and the Queen being back is HUGE, also September 10th is way earlier than I imagined (was thinking mid October) wonder where this leaves Ori? was certain that would be early September, especially with no Forza this year.
That's among the worst covers I've ever seen. Having a woman in the centre is great but the overall design is wtf.
How about the face looking like a 2009 CGI render for some videocard.

They stated last year that's it's to begin differentiating all the different games.
Main series is Gears 5 but you also have games like Gears Tactics and Gears Pop! Surrounding it. Gears keeps it all uniform and everyone knows what you are talking about anyways.

I thought that we already knew that MS were leaning into 'Gears', now that they own the IP, rather than GOW in order to differentiate it from God Of War?
Honestly probably a GOTY contender. I feel completely comfortable saying that right now this is looking to be a banger
New enemy looks like a cross between a Beserker and the Gears 3 Kantus, wouldn't be surprised if the box art is an early draft.
I'm guessing real. Seems to follow the Gears cover tradition of main characters showing off the new weapons in a V formation.
We already knew Myrrah would be in the game in some form since the reveal trailer, but it's interesting that she's in her Gears 3 armor on this cover and in her Gears 2 armor in the trailer dream sequences.
A few questions: what gun is Del holding? What's up with that Armored Kantus? Is that the new RAAM/Skorge? Hmmm...
