Possible Trump SCOTUS pick is a "Handmaid"

Amy Barrett told the senators that she was a faithful Catholic, and that her religious beliefs would not affect her decisions as an appellate judge. But her membership in a small, tightly knit Christian group called People of Praise never came up at the hearing, and might have led to even more intense questioning. Some of the group’s practices would surprise many faithful Catholics.

Members of the group swear a lifelong oath of loyalty, called a covenant, to one another, and are assigned and are accountable to a personal adviser, called a “head” for men and a “handmaid” for women. The group teaches that husbands are the heads of their wives and should take authority over the family.

This is the ultimate troll Putin pick. "She is a woman, who better than to decide Roe vs Wade?" You democrats are sexist and despicable.

That’s impossible. Democrats don’t have the numbers to do that
well if they had any kind of street game they could put the fear of dog into a number of deciders, but that's phase 2, phase one is stall for time and hammer them in November. And also hammer the administration in court.

all of this assumes the democrats have some kind of organized strategy to fight this...

Dem's better be ready to fight this shit. Block it, shout it from roof tops to inform voters and scare others Republicans from approving her, whatever it takes. Cults cannot, or at least should not, have such huge control over the future of this country.

Please tell me there's a way to stop this. I feel sick just thinking about that hateful bigot fuck having two Supreme Court picks.

The fuck. My wife and inlaws are hardcore catholic from the Philippines and the idea of women as chattel would be abhorent. And as a lefty lazy Catholic this is repugnant to me.

There is literally nothing the Democrats can do to stop this. It has nothing to do with strategy or the Democrat party.

Whomever Trump wants will sit on the court for the next 30+ years.

The time to stop this was 2 years ago

The terrorist right can absolutely use her with a "wow, you're going to stand against a woman on the issue of woman's rights?" and feel absolutely confident in that kind of argument.

McCain still has his seat but doesn't vote right? Maybe we will get lucky and two GOP senators will suddenly resign and it'll slow things down until their governors appoint replacements.

There's no stall for time, they literally can't do anything to stall or delay this from happening. And the only thing a politician fears is their constituents and if their constituents are fine with it then that's that.

There's literally nothing to do to stop this. This is why everyone was screaming about the Court in 2016, because a loss meant that this would definitely happen.

The numbers to stop this are not there. I'm sorry, but it's that simple. We're fucked.

Unless someone from the GOP grows a heart this is gonna happen. The time to stop this was November 2016.

I wonder what would happen if, by magic, the rest of the World stopped hearing about the US for 25 years.
No info, no news, just let Americans be.

Would the World be surprised by what we discovered of the US in 2043?

The Democrats literally don't have the numbers in the Senate to stop it if the Republicans want it.

You'd have to convince at least 1 Republican to vote along with all the Democrats.

Block anything and everything. He doesn't get to put anyone in the seat.
Agree. While they can't block the nomination directly dems have to pull every procedural trick possible to delay the nomination. We all have to lean heavily on Senator's like Murkowski, McCaskill, Flake, Collins, and Sasse need to be called by every Democrat in the country. Their phone lines should not be free from now until the midterms.

Figured he would pick one of the women from his Right Wing cult list. Give him ammo to say "see, the democrats don't want a woman"

Also several Democrats voted for her to be on the 7th court so you won't even get a unified Democratic front here.

Yeah.

If Jeff Flake or any other "reasonable' Republicans were even half serious about their concerns about Trump they'd already be siding with Dems and shutting shit down. They talk tough and then just fall in line and will here to. We can't stop this.

Hopefully Collins, who is pro-choice, can be convinced. But she'd be under enormous pressure.

The attacked muslims and latinos first. Then they took aim at women and gays.

Hillary probably should have campaigned on keeping abortion legal for Americans seeing how Garland was being sacrificed and Kennedy's son was connected to the Trumps. A guaranteed two-seat swing in the SCOTUS should have been enough to get the "but her Emails" crowd motivated to get off their asses.

Should have, but they were too busy voting for Doctor Jill Stein or Harambe or some shit.
