The people who say "X game can't run on Switch" simply won't come back if it's announced.

Can someone explain the motivation of these people that seem to flock to every porting rumor, boldly stating that "the Switch can't run this" without any indication of factual argument? Trying not to get disappointed? Or still console wars as if we are on a 90s school yard?

They like to think their console / PC of choice is somehow special because it can do something Switch for example, can't.

The same thing has happened for years surrounding the "master race" PC group vs console users and it's starting to seep into the PS4/Pro and XB1/X communities with them infighting about resolution, framerates and if they even matter. It will also happen to the Switch community if there's a Switch Pro (there's already people who literally tear your head off on here if you even dare mention the possibility of a Switch Pro existing). People generally hate there being a better experience available to other people usually because they can't have it for some reason and don't like feeling they're having an inferior experience.

Common sense.

If the Switch is powerful enough to run TW3, I will eat my left shoe.
They said that about so many games, it's not even funny. We just saw Dragon Quest XI and HellBlade Senua's Sacrifice, both games as demanding as Witcher 3 on consoles, run on Switch, both games people said could not run at all on Switch.

It's honestly pathetic, and very annoying. It's impossible to talk about the Switch in this forum. It doesn't happen with any other system either. It's either the shitpost of "lol it cannot run it" (Famous last words about a lot of games already) and when it turns out it CAN run it then it's "Why would I want to play the game on the Switch and not on my RTX2080Ti at 4K and 144FPS".
It's as if talking about cinema it was widely accepted to wish a film could not be watched on an iPad because it has to be watched on a 120", 4K HDR home cinema screen with Dolby Atmos. We get it, you have time and space and money to play on an impressive setup, good for you. Some people wanna play in bed, or in a hotel room, or on their sofa because they don't want to use the TV.

Alright, thanks. Definitely a pattern I noticed with forum threads and comment sections for every port discussion so far.

So "other people should not have nice things". Alright, grown-ups.

For a lot of people, it's an absolute crazy idea to appreciate a Technically downgraded game, even if the downgrade is well done.
The pathetic part is that a lot of these people often play on console and not on PC.

The begining of the generation was a eye opener, between people mocking 900p xbox one vs 1080p PS4 games, the incredibly hostile reactions to the switch reveal.

There's really something utterly stupid deep inside video game fandom, something you don't find in other media fanbases.

Nah utter stupidity is rampant everywhere. It just largely takes the form of "graphics wars" in this type of media.

Which games that struggle to run on Xbox One and PS4 have been successfully ported to the Switch? This is a legitimate question, because I can't think of a single one.

maybe beacuse there aren't that many ports at all? the only game which really struggle is ark survival evolved, but it's not comparable since it runs at 20 FPS even on xbox one x

witcher 3 doesn't "struggle" on ps4 and xbox one. it has several dips when stressed but that's it

Indeed, this is another area where one struggles to grasp people's motivation..

As another (not comparable) example, for Firewatch the web is full of people who claim that "the frame rate is a disaster" for every console port out there. Even if there were frame rate drops, they were barely noticeable during normal gameplay and just didn't hamper with my experience at all. And there were 4 (in letters: FOUR) brief moments in my 6, 7 h playtime where the game actually got stuck for a moment - maybe one to three seconds - because it was reloading some environment due to daytime changes. How should such details affect any normal person's game experience..?

The hateful, exaggerated way many people talk about graphical performance details seems very much out of proportion.
