One of FE's and SMT's next big breakout crossover franchise was killed by it's console, and now Nintendo has disrespected it by picking a game character from a game to not grace it's console over their own branded first party characters.

incorrect. i know you are wrong because i am playing smash right now and my strongest spirit is Oribae (Carnage Form), therefore #FE is still valid and great

The DLC characters are always going to be the more obvious picks since Nintendo wants you to spend money on them alone.

I'm surprised really. It could have been an SMT character, but then people would say "who the fuck is this". It was a smart choice, but i feel it would have had more of an impact if it was announced alongside Persona 5 for the Switch.

In all honestly yinz, I'm happy with seeing Joker get in, as long as he comes with some posing and cat puns. It makes sense as DLC choice and SMT is more niche in public eye despite it's history. And I'mma let y'all continue with your points and finish...

BUT TMS IS THE BETTER OF THE TWO GAMES for a smash choice FOR ALL TiME!

I was really hoping Tsubasa was gonna be in the base roster but characters from this have zero chance at being DLC. :(

I'm curious how long this deal's been around because porting Persona 5 to the Switch with this announcement would be an excellent opportunity to sell copies.

How is it disrespect? It was a neat little spinoff. Persona 5 is just a huge game that'll draw in outside fans.

I mean Smash got Cloud instead of any character from the first six Final Fantasies.

TMS was a great game that deserved more (Switch port when), but I'm still glad Nintendo released it in the west after it bombed hard in Japan even for the Wii U

Persona proper deserved the spot way more than #FE. As someone that is pretty critical of the former and liked the latter.

Nintendo selling out and disrespecting its own characters to honor the worst Atlus dev. Bleh.

It sucks to be their fan sometimes and Smash is increasingly becoming a thing that doesn't represent the experiences I have with their systems (I love TMS and couldn't care less about Hashinosona 5). I wonder if at some point I will just stop caring about them. :(

So disappointing.

I've played Persona games, and I think they're great games, but I still would've liked Tsubasa from #FE.
