Something needs to be done. Free government housing would be great. These are not the people to do it and they will not do in an unconcentration-camp fashion.
It's OK, the whole point is that homeless people having phones is not weird or somehow invalidating their need.
I agree with this actually, it's far past the time the federal stepped in to address the homeless crisis but this is absolutely the worst administration that could attempt it.Something needs to be done. Free government housing would be great. These are not the people to do it and they will not do in an unconcentration-camp fashion.
There is more than enough housing available to house the homeless. It's just all in the hands of landlords and flippers.
Yeah I agree with everything you said here.I'm disabled and just applied for Medicaid. There are all sorts of programs for those that need them. But none that pay for the insanely high prices to rent a place in the Seattle area. They might help slightly, but I think it's only for the first month.
Cell phones are essential communication tools that everyone needs.
It's better in SF and Japan.

Japan's are particularly dystopian on the outside I feel like the architect was just making a joke.
They turned into crime hives that were not maintained so people don't like them anymore.Serious question: whatever happened to housing projects? Are they all blocked from being built by NIMBYs or something?
It's a mix of greed, NIMBYism, racism, classism and market capitalism. The ones that historically have been built were underinvested in or ran poorly, this gave them a bad reputation in the eyes of the public, this causes politicians to pull funding from those projects, which made them worse, which made their reputation worse, etc, etc. America has turned its back on housing projects.Serious question: whatever happened to housing projects? Are they all blocked from being built by NIMBYs or something?
basically just watch the Pruitt-Igoe Myth documentary.Serious question: whatever happened to housing projects? Are they all blocked from being built by NIMBYs or something?
They only cared when they thought it was for poor white peopleWhere is the conspiracy people who swear the goverment is making FEMA camps?
Plenty of these homeless are poor white peopleThey only cared when they thought it was for poor white people
The thread title is a bit much. If they're able to come and go as they wish, that isn't a concentration camp.

I think you know.
We could literally just give homeless homes. There are more vacant homes than homeless people in the US
At least Trump's trying. If anything now the nation's aware of California's homeless problem.
Nickled and dimed for years by congress, then mostly gutted by Bill "the era of big government is over" Clinton with the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998. You can tell by the name how awful it is.Serious question: whatever happened to housing projects? Are they all blocked from being built by NIMBYs or something?
How the fuck are you going to solve homelessness if you think free housing = concentration camps? The plan isn't to round them up for execution.
lol yeah i used to laugh till they started using those camps to house immigration case subjects.Where is the conspiracy people who swear the goverment is making FEMA camps?
I didn't say they weren't but the people that we're talking about sure don't think the homeless population is largely white. They think it's addicts and the mentally ill and largely people of color. Y'all kill me with these knee jerk reactions.
Okay, account with 63 posts after a year and a half on the site, we'll be sure to give Trump a breakAt least Trump's trying. If anything now the nation's aware of California's homeless problem.

And doesn't cost you a monthly 1200$ for one bunkbed place per person. It's almost like owning a cell phone it's kinda vital in our society.

It's not a knee jerk reaction, it's just a fact. They don't care if the homeless are white or not, because once someone is homeless they become an 'undesirable' and are thus dehumanized. The Nazis put the homeless in concentration camps regardless of race or sex or orientation or creed. It's definitely a situation exacerbated by racism but it's ultimately a hatred of the poor for being poor.I didn't say they weren't but the people that we're talking about sure don't think the homeless population is largely white. If it sounds familiar, Star Trek DS9 called this back in the 90s. And the episode was set in 2024.
It does.

His plan is to imprison them in federal facilities, likely run by private contractors. No, that's not worth listening to.Truth is the homeless issue in LA is getting worse. The democratic leadership that focused on it, completely failed. They threw a bunch of money at it, in the wrong way, and things got worse.
Trump has no cache in the field but it'd be foolish to not, at least, listen to whatever likely garbage plan he has. The City deserves it because Gavin Newsome really shit the bed. Democratic leadership in CA needs to get better, quickly.
