I've been sleeping on these guys and now I'm depressed. Fucking hell.

Got to see Monkey3 recently after years of waiting. They blew an amp and had to end the show early but I think there was only 1 song left on their set list so not a massive loss. Just wish I could have seen 35007 while they were still a thing.

And the wife got us tickets to see Earthless in April. There's a pretty new promoter in my city that's putting on really good stoner/doom gigs, just hope I can get out to some of them.

I've heard there's a new Weedeater album out but not been able to find anything online about it. Anyone got any info?

Was that in Bristol, UK? Because that sounds pretty much exactly what happened when I saw them back in September, ha. I hadn't actually heard of them until a friend played me "Icarus" a couple months before the gig and I was hooked.

Shit the bed, it was indeed. September 23rd, easy to remember as it was on my wife's birthday. Gonga were great that night too. Snuff Lane have been putting on some great gigs in Bristol. The scene kind of dried up for a bit a few years ago after Denim and Leather stopped putting on shows.

If you liked monkey3 and haven't heard 35007 then you should check them out.

Ha, small world. Me and my friend arrived a bit too late to see Gonga unfortunately. I'll definitely check 35007 out.

Doesn't really fit in with this thread but did you catch Brutus, also at the Exchange in October? I saw them twice last year, there and ArcTanGent. They came out of nowhere with my favourite album of 2017, can't get enough of them right now.

Not heard of Brutus, I'll keep an eye out. We don't get out much these days as we have 2 young children and my wife works evenings, so just going out to the pub requires military grade planning. Gonga don't play much as some of them are in Crippled Black Phoenix, but worth catching if they play again.

Fatso Jetson are playing at The Lanes on the 28th but I can't make it which sucks.

This is one HELLA broad thread, lol.

I love prog metal (also prog rock) and quite a lot of other metal as well, but most of that list of subgenres I either don't care for or actively dislike.

Sorry for not actually contributing.

Funny you mentioned this, the same friend I saw Monkey3 with asked me to go so I now have a ticket. I know the name but never really listened to them so checked out their most recent album and dug it. From what I've read they've gone through many styles over the years so I'm not sure what to expect but it should be fun!

Some more great stuff thanks to Stoned Meadow of Doom

Psychic Lemon - Frequency Rhythm Distortion Delay: https://psychiclemon.bandcamp.com/album/frequency-rhythm-distortion-delay

CB3 - From Nothing To Eternity: https://lazyoctopus.bandcamp.com/album/from-nothing-to-eternity

Whoa, Psychic Lemon is kind of awesome. Their first EP is pretty great, too. Nice find, jambo.

Recently discovered Tangerine Stoned, which is a pretty cool 60s psych/prog/blues throwback sounding band from Italy.

Man, you're lucky you have a friend that's into this stuff to drag you along to shows, all my mates are into bigger name metal bands and not interested in small local gigs. Their idea of an intimate low key concert is Steel Panther at the Academy.

I can occasionally get my wife to agree to go to something, but it's on a quid pro quo basis; Earthless in exchange for White Buffalo. Amenra are playing the Thekla with Boris on valentines day and she's already given a hard 'No' on that one.

Enjoy Fatso Jetson.. I'm still sick as a dog that I missed Yawning Man and Mars Red Sky.

Haha, well if you're ever at a loose end for a gig buddy for something in Bristol, give me a shout, if I'm free and interested in the band we can have a few beers and enjoy some music!

Oof, that sucks. Mars Red Sky have a really great live sound. I've seen Yawning Man as well, but Mario Lalli couldn't get into Canada, so the bass player from the opening band ended up jamming with the other 2/3 of YM for an hour.

My biggest regret: I missed seeing Kadavar when they were on their Abra Kadavar tour. I've since been told that they played a solid 90 minutes. Still super bummed about that, especially since they haven't made it back Toronto since then.

This is the first time in a while that I had a really big "whoa" moment, followed by "fuck yes"

Sleeping Pandora debut album, Quiet Pass: https://sleepingpandora.bandcamp.com/releases

The guitarist from Cosmic Fall is doing the 1 man band thing and it's pretty amazing. Spherica is my kind of space rock jam.

Old news that I didn't find out until yesterday: Rush are officially no more.

I knew they were done touring, but I thought they'd be able to squeeze out one more album. 41 years is a good run.
Truly the end of an era. I've been listening to Hemispheres and Farewell to Kings over the last week. Both are masterpieces.

Also, Alex Lifeson will be playing guest guitar on the new Fu Manchu album, which is super cool.

One of my biggest regrets is never seeing Rush live. :\
I've had the chance a couple times, just never lined up right.

Found a cool band called Buddha Sentenza over the weekend:
https://buddhasentenza.bandcamp.com

Heavy psych instrumental kind of deal. Check it out
This track is incredible:

Also, some touring news.
All Them Witches have announced they are going to open for Primus and Mastodon on the first leg of their tour
and King Buffalo is doing a west coast tour with The Sword.

I know there are some fans in here, so I thought I'd mention it.

New Sleeping Pandora is great!

I discovered this awesome Zambian Psych band from the 70s yesterday.
Check it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMHlkvJbWos

Early stuff is very much inspired by late 60s psychadelia, but they get into prog with their later stuff.

Also, Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound falls right in the sweet spot for me between heavy stoner and sweet, spacey psych. Check them out if you haven't. They have kind of have a Comets on Fire kind of vibe.

Welcome, hope you find some new music that you enjoy!

I thought it might be cool to post a thing every week or maybe fortnight/month to show what you've been listening to. I've been using a combination of last.fm stats and this site to make a collage

Fu Manchu, Clone of the Universe came out a few days ago. I like it. It sounds like Fu Manchu. Cool jam at the end, too, which I always dig.

Also, check out this band and their latest:
Pretty Lightning - Rhythm of Ooze
https://prettylightning.bandcamp.com/

Cool Psychedelic blues, which, if you know me, know I'm quite fond of. :P

Never ventured over here before, stoked to check out some of the darker stuff in here! Here's some stuff that has come out in the last little while that I've been into:

If anyone is into, uh, "extreme" (???) metal, the new Portal album fucking rips. It's still a little (ok, a lot) dense, and I was put off by the more treble focused production at first, but after several listens it really shows off the layers better than the wall of death that was Vexovoid.

https://profoundlorerecords.bandcamp.com/album/ion

The new Blut Aus Nord shifts back to the more industrial influence of his mid-late era. Some days I love it, others I can't be bothered. Still, for something that's mostly pounding noise I do find a lot of the melodic elements sticking in my head.

https://blutausnord.bandcamp.com/album/deus-salutis-meae

If anyone was into Agalloch, the singer/guitar/songwriter started a new band after their demise called Pillorian and they've got a more straight up black metal thing going on.

https://pillorian.bandcamp.com/album/obsidian-arc

Schammasch seem to be changing gears on their sound, which is a bit of a shame as I absolutely loved their last album, Triangle. I've come around on this EP though, it shares a lot in common with the third disc from Triangle, with a more ambient focus.

Here's what I've been listening to recently.

In other news, Truckfighters have gone on an indefinite hiatus. Their last few albums have been meh, but they were definitely one of the better live acts out there.

Dying Surfer is on rotation constantly, I love that album so much.

On topic, I never really got into Truckfighters outside of Gravity X. Still sad to see them go on hiatus, though.

Full disclosure, the bass player/vocalist is my best friend, but the album that dropped today is one of my most looked forward to for a year now, and I've seen all that went into putting this all together. Bet if you didn't know it was a two piece and mostly recorded and written by one person you couldn't tell. Anyways, if you like Type-O-Negative, YOB and such, boy is this an album for you. They're about to tour most of Europe in April aswell.

If Sunn O))) ever play Bristol again I'll definetly hit you up; the wife would never concede to going. How did you like Fatso Jetson? I was listening to my discover weekly list on Spotify the other day and a really good track came on so I went to see who it was and funnily enough it was Brutus. Really dug the song so listened to the whole album.

Been listening to Church of the Cosmic Skull a lot recently. A bit like the Polyphonic Spree but less happy clappy.

I leave the USA a week before Primus/Mastodon come to my city, I'm mad.

Also a little confused by this topic, this seems mostly metal... But o well, want to share with you guys one of the first Portuguese progressive rock bands. Also they are my family so I just grew up listening to them and love them.

Haven't been seeing much metal, but there is lots of heavy rock in here, yeah. A lot of us migrated over here because the Official ERA metal thread is heavily skewed towards extreme stuff.
