I bought a PS Vita 2000 1 month ago with a lot of titles:

- Dragons Crown
- Soul Sacrifice Delta
- Persona 4 Golden
- Killzone Mercenary
- Tearaway
- Resistance Burning skies
- Dragon quest builders
- Freedom wars
- NFS most wanted
- Trails of Cold Steel 2
...

I got a huge library for less than 100$ buying used games and from PS plus I grabbed during 5 years.

And oh man, the game library is huge and full of good games. The console feels great, it's comfortable, slick, small but with big screen... the only bad is the lack of L2 and R2.

The SO is really good too, with lot of things, folders, friends messaging, party live chat, trophies, web browser, video/music playback.... it has email too lol

The graphics are good for a console like this, specially the Killzone...but yeah If you have a switch you can tell there is a generation between them. Even tho, all is playable and good at the eyes.

Too bad the lack of support from sony, the potential was huge, like a diamond.

Thank you guys for the game suggestions I had in my other thread asking for which version of Vita should I get.

Dragons Crown is fantastic, also Soul Sacrifice. I dont have a time to play them all!! Probably I will spend all the year with this backlog!

It's pretty damn good PS1, at least for games that didn't use L2/R2. Its own library is ... just, as an example, probably not as good as the Saturn library.

Vita TV remains a great way to play games that will never receive ports or remasters - especially older PSP games like Let Us Cling Together, Jeanne D'Arc, and Maverick Hunter X.

It's a cool piece of hardware, I just wish it had better native games. A lot of it's games are so, so approximations of decent console game that play, perform and control worse than their big counterparts.
I'm keeping mine around for P4 golden and Danganronpa.

Best handheld design, period. The ergonomic is much better than the Switch.
For 2D games? Maybe. I can see it.
For 3D games for people who don't have clawlike misshapen hands? Lol no.

Totally disagree.

Only two shoulder buttons. Back panel thing is a useless piece of utter shit. Sticks are awful. Face buttons are too small and uncomfortable. The memory card system and prices were so unbelievably bad that I seriously can't fathom how it even passed an initial meeting.

The library is okay at best. And all the best games on the system can be played elsewhere without putting up with all the nonsense of using the Vita.

Sony's complete lack of support is a big reason it failed, but so is the fact that they made it as undesirable as possible. Biggest regret of a gaming purchase.

Killzone Mercenaries is an awesome game and shouldn't be stuck in that purgatory.

I think it is in a weird middle ground technologically where it has a modern gpu for the time that allowed for lots of modern effects but it couldn't push the pixels. Some games like assassins creed have such a weird blend of low res murkiness with like cool shader tricks.

I like uncharted though and wish they'd port it.

I thought it was the most comfortable handheld ever.

I still use my Vita for Remote Play for PS4 JRPGs.
I cleared more than of 50% Persona 5 and Coldsteel 3 on my Vita.

Unfortunately for me it's just a Persona 4 Golden machine. I didn't find much use out of it other than that, and everything else has been ported elsewhere. But man, what a game P4G was.

For the first time ever i've been able to actually bring my portables to work for lunch, and play them on the way home. After hating portables my entire life and only buying them for exclusives, i now love my vita.

I platinumed Persona 4 and Gucamelee on it and now i'm working on Shovel Knight. It still has some advantages over the switch like the free online, trophies, wireless headphones/chat. Certainly not a perfect system, it's so uncomfortable that i have to use grips and the library is not great, but still very happy with it.

Vita is one of the only platforms in existence where you'd rather play just about any game on it even if it technically runs worse just by virtue of it being on the Vita. Vita is such a comfortable convenient device once you play Vita you don't want to touch anything else. Certainly not in regards to handhelds.

Yes the Vita's library was a massive letdown after the PSP. I think I played PSP and PS1 games a lot more than Vita games on my Vita. It was my preferred handheld at the time for having a decent resolution in comparison to the 3DS. Game-wise the 3DS was miles ahead. If you liked trashy Compile Heart games then the Vita was for you, I guess.

It was great, but yeah, compared to Switch, the games are lacking. There's 100s and 100s of fun games I'd enjoy on the switch, while Vita has its numbers in the dozens (and more and more come out every year on Switch - while not so much anymore with Vita).

I owned a vita before I got into persona, I now don't own a vita and want nothing more than to play P4G and can't forgive them for keeping it locked to this thing.
I can't even buy a system for less than 120$ anymore or the previous cheap option being playstation TV is now over 300$, so yeah, that game is in hell essentially.

Worthwhile thanks to Sony's initial first party support and portable indies with trophies. Major third parties did it wrong though, although understandably so given the weak hardware and constantly uncertain future. Most games released for it were by-products of games designed for stronger hardware.

Shame it was never truly given a chance. Third parties were waiting for the console to prove itself and Sony gave up before it could reach that point. Something that may have been a good move retrospectively. The PS4 was probably helped by them sacrificing the Vita.

Get yourself some Earth Defense Force OP!

Comfiest handheld ever and region free. It's a bit weird going back to it after Switch but it is still a phenomenal system. I really miss Everybody's Golf on the go

It really is an amazing console. I took mine out last week just to charge it after not using it for over a year. Instead of just charging and storing it back I am currently going through my backlog of ps+ games . It honestly has a better screen than the switch and the dpad is the best of any console ever . The UI is what i wish the Switch UI was like . Too sad it failed because of Sony's greed with the memory cards situation especially seeing how huge digital is now . I am currently playing the PSP GOW games and they still hold up extremely well . It makes me sad Sony will never release antother portable console ever again.

I love everything about the design up to the point where it just barely falls short of having full console controls, and I feel like games tended to be designed more like console. I hate using the touch surfaces as replacements for R2/L2 and R3/L3.

That said, it still ended up being quite great overall. I do wish more PSP stuff was available on PSN, but it was definitely cool hardware.

Would totally buy a Vita 2 even if it had minimal support for new titles with local play as long as it had all the buttons for PS4/PS5 remote play, a modern chipset/WiFi standard and BC for Vita/digital PSP titles.

It's 8 years old and it has 1600 games. It's end of life, but has an enormous amount of games. The 1600 are only native games, then you have: Playstation Mini, Playstation Portable and Playstation 1 games. Could be 2500 in total? Or even more?

I think it has a looooot of good games.

How does it compare to the Switch Lite in terms of how comfortable it is?

Nice console with a handful of great games but imo the save management is terrible when you don't have PS+.

Love the Vita. Between buying it for myself and my kids and replacing broken ones, I've bought 4 over the years and I'm eyeing out buying another one at the moment.

This....I don't even particularly care for that many games on the system, but it is always a good time using it

Lumines Electronic Symphony + bluetooth headphones is sooo nice. the fact i can't do this with switch and lumines remastered is keeping my vita in use

This the good feels you get from it the first couple of months, then you end up wanting to sell it. Loved it for a period of time then it just simply wore off. Couldnt catch my attention long enough. The Dpad was amazing, though. Have yet to touch any console or controller that can top it.

Had some amazing times with my Vita, with Persona 4G being the crowning moment. There are times I wish I still had mine, but had to give it away to my nephew when he broke his 😢

Homebrewed with SD2Vita and the PSP library makes it the best handheld ever. Also that lovely Dpad.

Perfect sized for my hands too.

Adrenaline and Retroarch make the PS Vita the best handheld ever if you're into retrogaming (also just gaming). Always neat to see this little one get some love :)

Ports or not, most of those games are ones that I would much rather play on the go then play at home.

Also, I love how easy it is to multitask with the UI. I'm going to wait before the updates are done before I hack mine, though.

I wish I'd love my Switch half of how much I love my 2 Vitas. Considering you have Vita+PSP+PSX libraries available, software-wise it just stomps the competition in such a brutal way it isn't even fair.
The useless back pannel and propietary memory where huuuuuge mistakes, they should have gone for a cheaper machine with internal storege and micro SD support instead.
Don't skip Wipeout 2048 and Everybody's Golf, and if you're liking Dragon's Crown so much, then you'd love Muramasa and Odin Sphere.

Damn straight, it's an amazing console. Welcome to Vita <3

I still play my day one Vita - So many good games on the system, including tons of PSP stuff, that I can't really play anywhere else. For traveling I still bring my Vita over my Switch.

I wish I had bought one used before the prices skyrocketed, particularly with the PSTV. I could have gotten a PSTV for around $75 at one point. Now good luck getting one for less than $200. I want to play Persona 4 Golden pretty badly, but not badly enough to spend that kind of cash.

You have a point, I wasn't counting PSN games. If I add those in my number gets much higher... but comparing retail Vita games to retail Switch games is no contest for me. Even digital / indie games is heavily skewed towards Switch and the system isn't even halfway through it's life - which is really the point I guess I was expanding on, Vita is a great portable, but just doesn't have as many enticing gaming options to me as the Switch (or even the 3DS). That's not to say it's lacking, well not when you include PSN games anyway. I still sorta feel I'm not very impressed with the number of native Vita games I bought for the system.

Even compared to like the Gamecube - I owned way, way more Gamecube games. The Switch is much more in line with a typical system for me, while the Vita was definitely on the sparser side excluding PSN releases of older games - which outnumber the amount of native Vita games I own or on a wishlist. I would also say the PSP had more games on it that interested me than Vita. I guess the only system I've ever owned which I had less games purchased for it than the Vita is the N64.

Hahaha, no.

The analog nubs are horribly placed and caused me instant pain and cramping and I hated the feeling of playing that thing.
I never understood the literal worship that console had - some good games were released but so much stuff was badly designed.

Horrible ugly UI, incredibly expensive memory format, non native resolution on most games... I'm sad murasama and it's DLC are stuck on this.

Its a shame it didn't get the support it needed, it was and still is a powerful handheld, the killzone game on it rivals some switch games today which is impressive.

this sacrifice better have solidified your spot as favorite aunt/uncle LOL

It better have!

Then he lost his 32 GB card so I made another sacrifice and gave him my 64 GB card I was saving in case I bought another.

Also gave both my brother and sisters kids my 2 old PS4s when I upgraded to the Pro, and they're both getting PS5's this Xmas.

It is probably my favorite handheld design. The size is perfect, the d-pad is transcendental, and the buttons are delightfully clicky. It's real good. If I could only find one of those grips that add L2 and R2 buttons via the rear touchpad, I would be using it way more to do in-home streaming.
