Weren't these numbers for the FY not the calendar year?So they even out performed their own re-re revised numbers. Started out at 16 million, upped to 17 million in the summer and then 17.5 million in the autumn information release.

I believe they have been profiting since day 1 on the PS4 unit aloneI wonder how much money Sony makes off of every PS4 console sale. Unlike at launch I'm assuming the days of losing money on each box or just breaking even are long gone and now they're actually profiting right?
Microsoft have given up & Sony pretty much have a monopoly, next gen will be interesting though, but likely Sony dominated if MS can't produce the exclusives.
What's standing in their way?
Is this true? Holy shit Sony really did everything right when it came to designing and launching the PS4. It couldn't be more of a contrast vs how the PS3 went down at launch.I believe they have been profiting since day 1 on the PS4 unit alone
The closest was the last Ratchet & Clank game on PS4.Yes, by far. The closest was Spyro, who sold close to 5 million.
Some would say the Switch but it's clearly still doing very well (although it appeared to have peaked in 2017 but not by much more).
Anybody know how many PS2 were sold in the same lifespan?
I found that at the end of 2005 fiscal year, PS2 has 87 million sold. Thats really impressive for PS4.
over 150mil without a Pro model & with Xbox & GC actually having a lot of good exclusives to compete with Sony, PS2 numbers were something else.Anybody know how many PS2 were sold in the same lifespan?

Is this Insomniac's highest selling game?
Given their long standing relationship, Sony should buy them if possible imo. When I think of playstation brand, I am reminded of Insomniac.

This is why we won't get ps5 in 2019.
125+ in play with a price cut?
Is $299 the current msrp for the base model?
Yep.125+ in play with a price cut?
Is $299 the current msrp for the base model?
Depends on PS5 i think, if PS5 comes late 2019 with a $399 price tag, it's gonna destroy PS4's momentum, personally im fine with waiting for 2021 for PS5, but i also game on PC so im biased, i think a lot of Console only gamers want better hardware sooner than later, then again with a ton of people just picking up a PS4 Pro in 2018, they might get upset about PS5 being soon also. And TLOU2, GOT, DS, DG, and who knows what other exclusives that haven't been announced are still on the way, ps4 will easily do 150 million by the end of the console lifecycle.
Yup, $299.99 is still the official MSRP125+ in play with a price cut?

By far.
There's the possibility that people here could be way off from reality.Cetainly puts the looming December NPD data in perspective, which is nice. Playstation is a lot more than whatever's happening in the US for any given month.
Decent. I bought one for cheap. Spiderman was truly mediocre so I sold it right quick. They got a sale from me though, assuming bundled software counts
Hey I bought one! Sony got me for two this gen. Haha! I just didn't care for Spiderman. Bloodborne is good though.
The Deluxe edition is pretty much that, has all DLC, so just need to keep a eye on that. You can get the Season Pass for 37% off at the moment (in the EU anyway), so mightn't even have to keep a eye on the Deluxe edition.I'm still waiting for Insomniac to make the GOTY version of Spider-Man to buy it. 9 million is much more than I thought it'd sell.
Would Sony know how many units Nintendo sold a week after the year's over? Have they claimed something like that at CES in previous years?that's great. can we extrapolate some numbers?
no "best selling console of the year" detected though
Where does this stand in the pantheon of Sony PlayStation consoles so far?

Third behind PS2 and PSOne. It's already outsold PS3 and will probably pass 1. PS2 is likely out of reach, but PS4 is probably going to wind up being the 2nd most successful console of all time.
So this says over 5.6 million PS4s sold from Nov 19 - Dec 31..........
We already knew that November had about 1.3 million PS4s sold in the US.
What can this tell us about potential December worldwide sales for PS4?
