When Sony revenue is over 20 billion that year, 1.2 billion from Spider-man and GOW (which isn't really true, it's much much lower than that), which is by far their strongest year this generation, is a blip on their radar. Do you want to talk about profit over revenue? PS Plus has 38 million subscribers, that's over 2 billion dollars a year without doing much. And third party sales? Hundreds of millions of copies, millions of pieces of DLC and Sony gets a 30% cut from that. There is no doubt that selling first-party content is just a small part of their Playstation business.

Of course they make more money off all of 3rd party game sales together .
Remember this whole thing started because you said they would make more money of COD then there own games.
The point was there first party sales now are not a blip when it directly effect there forecast and profit per year\quarter .

I said that they are probably making more money out of COD + FIFA than their first-party studios every year, and it's probably true on average. Even though they only get 30% out of COD and FIFA while first-party games get them 100%, COD + FIFA sells many more copies and both have very high micro-transaction rates while Sony's games usually don't have much micro-transactions. I'm completely sure that's true for every year in the past gen, maybe except for 2018 because GOW and Spider-man sold so well. But on average? Yes, I do believe COD and FIFA alone are bigger money makers for Sony than their first-party studios.

But it actually doesn't matter, maybe COD + FIFA makes them 30% less than their first party, maybe 30% more, who knows. The whole point of this was to show that most of the money Sony makes is from being a platform holder, not from first-party games. So, IMO, Sony should be more concerned about their ecosystem than selling a few more copies of GOW.

Amazing features indeed. These sounds like first person or VR types of games. I don't think any normal game would use triggers to climb a ledge and each trigger corresponds to one hand.
I'm pretty sure multiple standard games have used separate controls for right and left character hands. The first Assassin's Creed is the biggest example I can recall off the top of my head.

Studios like Asobo, Certain Affinity, etc make much more sense.
There's a lot of available targets in this size. The last time I updated a list of indies over 100 staff, there were 50+ studios on it. Or Sony could do something weird like buy Keywords, and pursue revenue from a completely different direction.

maybe some will be true like Demon's Souls, etc..

but that reddit post was basically every single rumour or speculation and even wish from gaming sites/forums/tweets and threads stacked together and posted as a "leak"

so even if some on that list ever sees the day it isn't most likely due to this person actually having inside information (reddit poster)

These leaks are funny, people think you can just easily throw on ray tracing through emulation, the guy probably saw Quake RTX & thought "Sony can do that too" not knowing Quake 2's ray tracing work was years in the making & Nvidia had groundwork to go off of.

Somebody said Demon's Souls.
Any news on that front?
Because I would like to play it again.
I hope it is a remaster cross-gen, so I can play it on my PS4.

Welp it's time for another random Reddit leak :)
It does sound pleasant at the very least, if it were true

- PlayStation 5 is launching October 30th for $500. The price point is set, but many variables including SSD size is liable to change over the next couple of months. They are trying to push to 2TB.

- Launch games planned currently include:

· New Killzone Title from Guerrilla Games (This title has been very much under wraps for years. It seems to be a huge departure / reboot from the rest of the franchise. Also extra focus on multiplayer.)

· Demon's Souls Remake from Bluepoint Games (It's a full remake of the game. Despite having Miyazaki's blessing the game is sure to be a source of debate for fans since Bluepoint are taking artistic liberties and adding their own ideas.)

· SOCOM Reboot from San Diego Studio (Long rumored to be in development at Guerrilla, the game is being developed by ex Zipper Interactive employees and burnt out MLB devs using the Decima Engine. It has almost photo-realistic graphics.)

· Gran Turismo 7 from Polyphony Digital (Huge project that has been in development since 2014. The game is designed to be supported for 10 years and has more employees working on it than any game Sony has ever made.)

· New Ratchet & Clank from Insomniac Games (Start of a new Trilogy and sequel to the Future series the game has been in development since before the 2016 Remake was released. This game sees the return of space exploration, hoverboots and competitive multiplayer which could be free to play. Still being decided.)

· New Multiplayer Title (Project Vanguard) from Remedy Entertainment (Sony is planning to acquire Remedy based on the reception to this game and a few other variables. In terms of this game, think of a cross between Control, Star Trek and the film Gravity.)

· WiLD from Wild Sheep Studio (Back in 2017 the game was a mess and lacked direction with Michel Ancel devoting more time to Beyond Good & Evil 2. He is still on board just in a lesser capacity. The game has switched to Decima Engine and will be on PS4 and PS5.)

· New Action Title from London Studio (Actually inspired by Hellblade, this game is a short, but hopefully satisfying open world Guy Ritchie-like adventure.)

· New Action Title from Japan Studio (From the makers of Forbidden Siren, this game is more of a spiritual successor to Gravity Rush 2.)

All titles are liable to be delayed out of Fall 2020.

- Sony will host an event on February 5th to unveil the system, controller and key aspects of their plan with another event close to E3 2020 in timing, then one last event shortly before release. There will also be 2 or 3 State of Play's throughout the year to keep fans excited and remind gamers of other big PlayStation releases.

- Other non-launch titles due to be unveiled at these events include:

· New Horizon Title from Guerrilla Games (2021)

· New Uncharted Title from New Unnamed Studio (2021)

· New The Order Title from Ready at Dawn Studios (2021)

· New Motorstorm Title from Codemasters (2021)

· New Spider-Man Title from Insomniac Games (2022)

· New God of War Title from Santa Monica Studio (2022)

· New Fumito Ueda Title from genDesign (2022)

All titles are liable to not be unveiled. Plans change or worse.

- Key features of PlayStation 5 include:

· The ability to have 3 games and multiple media functionalities suspended while you play a 4th game.

· The ability to have different states of the same game running at the same time.

· In the cloud you can have as many games suspended as you like. You can use the cloud to resume a game on your console after months of playing other game exactly where you left off or of course any other platform through the cloud.

· Save data, screenshots and video clips can be offloaded to the cloud to free up hard drive space.

· Rigorous amounts of data and statistics for you to view about your games and platform use.

· Backwards Compatibility for all PlayStation Formats.

- More on Backwards Compatibility

Expect PlayStation 1, 2, 3 and 4 games available to purchase and play on PS5 at launch. The full PS4 catalogue will be available, but libraries will be limited for other platforms to begin with. More games will be added as time goes on in much the same way Microsoft did. You will actually see a lot more old games supporting high frame rates, 4K resolution and HDR (even ray tracing) on PS5 than has been possible on Xbox One. Sony are very much concerned about saving old games from older platforms. They have the first Gran Turismo game running on PlayStation 5 at 120fps with ray tracing enabled. It looks surprisingly great for a 22 year old game. Backwards compatibility for PSP and Vita are also in development with Sony aiming to have both available within 2 years of the system launching.

- Some other tidbits:

  1. Sony and Microsoft are currently both in a business war with one another to secure marketing rights to certain third party titles that are going to be considered major draws to the next generation. Interestingly enough Microsoft has already gotten the marketing for Rocksteady's new title, but the WB Games Montreal title heavily rumored to be called Batman: Arkham Legacy (not sure about the name) is up for the taking and is said to be an exceedingly and surprisingly impressive game. Right now the developers are having issues porting the game to current generation hardware. Also in contention is 2 different projects from EA Motive, a 4th Mafia game from 2K, an exciting New IP from Sega and Creative Assembly and Ubisoft's Avatar.
  2. Rumors about either Sony or Microsoft undercutting each other on price is wrong. Both cost very similarly to produce, are almost indistinguishable in terms of specs and can't afford to launch at any less than $500. The main differences between both systems is the SSD technology which Sony has the slight edge on, but the differences and long term outcomes cannot be predicted.
  3. Xbox Lockhart is in development, but isn't going to make it out in time for Xbox Series X launch and specs are still being decided.
  4. There is some truth to rumors that Sony is looking to acquiring ZeniMax Media with Herman Hulst leading the charge, however this has actually happened before and if there is no news before the end of March don't expect it to happen.
  5. Lastly speaking of Herman Hulst, there is a considerable amount of renewed excitement within Sony and Worldwide Studios with the restructuring and appointment of Hulst. Everything is more organized with communication and worker satisfaction being at an all-time high.

I know these are fake, but I love reading them because they are so fun! Its more an imagination exercise than anything else.

It don't make a lot of sense. Why would they come out with Killzone and SOCOM both for launch titles? The list sounds more like what the author would like with all of thsoe sequels.

The list is super duper fake but this doesn't seem too crazy to me. One is a FPS, the other is a TPS and they don't really play all that similar.

I found the list amusing because it's so meticulous and specific, the number of people who could even know all of this was happening at Sony even if it was somehow true couldn't be more than like a dozen people. So unless Herman Hulst himself is the leaker this ain't happening.

No one is buying Zenimax.

I certainly hope not anyway. If Microsoft buys Zenimax they'll just pump out infinite sequels. These acquisitions so far has me excited because of the potential for new IP. Zenimax has so much popular IP that we'd probably barely ever get anything original if they get bought by Microsoft.

Right.. because the XBOX team has been so overbearing...

I mean, regardless of where a leak comes from, it's a pretty safe assumption that any time you see "runs BC games at 4K/60fps/adds ray-tracing (lmao)" it's complete bullshit. There is no and will never be some magic method or device by which older games can gain enhancements like that. It's a massive testament to just how much work MS did to add enhancements to so many older games especially given the figures I see thrown around occasionally that BC player numbers are quite low. While I don't doubt Sony could be capable of doing similar, they haven't come within a mile of it so far and would have a ways to go before they got their if they tried. I imagine regular play-it-as-it-was BC would be more than enough for most people.

Were still at the status quo of it being practically confirmed by multiple hints from jschreier, but I don't really see a PS4 version - if it was cross-gen, I feel like it would've just been announced for PS4 already. Plus, Bluepoint was specifically asked about their project in an article all about the PS5. I really think it's exclusive, which makes me wonder just what they're doing to it.

The GT7 stuff is bogus. Polyphony has 170 employees based on stats from their official website, less than Guerilla and significantly less than Naughty Dog. Polyphony barely outsources while Guerilla and ND heavily relies on outsourcing assets, there's no way GT7 has the most employees working on it out of any Sony game ever made. GT7 being worked on since 2014 also doesn't make sense considering they were struggling to release GTSport on time in 2016, ended up with a delay and still released it in a bare bones state in terms of car and track count.

I definitely think Zenimax would go to Xbox's table first. It seems like they've always had a relationship with them. Most of their marketing and stuff goes to Xbox. I think if they were on the market Sony might try to pick them up but Microsoft might swoop in with higher bids. That's one company you don't let your competition have. But I doubt they're for sale. If they were I could see a few studios breaking off and becoming their own thing (BGS).

Why are you still wanking on this bulllshit? It's off topic at the very least. Can we please go back to debating TF and CU? That's much more relevant speculation.

Hot take but Halo Infinite and the Xbox Series X should launch before Call of Duty Black Ops 5.

If Black Ops 5 is available day 1 on the Series X, I could see Halo Infinite not having a very long shelf life to build up an audience.

Just thinking about it. A battle royale ratchet and clank could be fun as fuck. So many gadgets and characters. Just as long as theres no fortnite wall building.

I dont believe the rumors though.

It will be launching on xbox one s/x, series x, xcloud and pc with play anywhere and crossplay. I wouldn't worry about player population.
