It clearly was. I posted the relevant bits of the code and the name of the excel file. OberonA0 fill presilicon, Oberon B0 fits post silicon columns.

Just because one result was a model doesn't mean that silicon for A0 was never produced. Perhaps it wasn't functional enough to run the test.

The games are the bigger doubt in my mind rather than the consoles in terms of delays.

China is back online so they can make the boxes, but the western world is facing lock downs and all the rest of it and whilst many can work from home there will unquestionably be a lot of lost hours.
Yep, and remember we are at crunch times. So when they will be able to works "normally", they won't be able to crush more. I really hope it won't happened.
We are at a special moment in human history, without labour, the finance is falling.
So I wish Sony and Ms you make a truce and both delay their launch for the safety of people. A dream maybe, but tomorrow, who knows.
Why would Sony show anything now? Xbox just did a big reveal and it didn't even make a splash on social media due to everyone talking about the damn virus. I think it's highly unlikely we'll hear about the PS5 for a few weeks at least, until people are bored of talking about the pandemic (and other things, such as the primary, are done)
It is a big technical only reveal on very specialised web site. Don't get me wrong, I think it is the best thing to do for technical.
You will make people talk with either gameplay or / and bringing back major IP.

Not just one result. Many many results. The results posted in OberonA0 are just model results. What is the difference between nonfunctional unit and no unit for this purpose? No evidence that it was fabbed at all in here after further review. If you have some evidence otherwise please post it. I also found the references to Both Ariel_B0 and Oberon_A0 ucode.

No Oberon_B0 ucode.

They've already done their technical reveals with the Wired articles and got everyone talking. But now, there is no need to reveal anything as half the world is far more concerned with COVID, many of their studios are on lockdown so cannot produce trailers for upcoming games and they don't want to risk the welfare of their staff or of the pundits. I'm honestly surprised MS did their reveal right now; it must have been planned quite some time ago, otherwise it is very reckless to do a marketing demo/meetup while everyone is supposed to be self-isolating

There's no need for the consoles to be delayed just because launch games are delayed. Go and read the DF spec reveal again, these consoles are going to have an absolute shitload of QoL features that will greatly enhance even just the experience of playing older games.

The fated slip finally happened.

just saw that the xbox one power supply is only 300w. thats 45w less than the ps3 power supply. its higher than the 245w power supply of the one x but we are looking at a 200w console max.

sony can easily target that 200w number.

also, shows how richard was off with his 350w console predictions.
13TF of comfy couch gaming :)

It's....weird to see so many people complaining about the lack of PS5 from Sony in a time some of Sony's strongest markets (in Europe) are battling a virus that's killing people in multiple countries.

I'm sure that had an effect on everything by now and they will talk about this when things start to die down a bit guys. Who is going to talk about the PS5 right now?

A 13.3 tflops PS5 would make yet another Klee predicition come true.

Essentially a 10 % difference (X1 vs X1S). Which is fucking insane. We'll have two consoles with above 2080 S and basically 2080 Ti levels of performance...

The jump from the original X1/PS4 to THIS? This is one of the biggest jumps we've had in quite a while. Imagine what games will look and play like... Flying the Highwind in FF7R: Part 2 will be a sight to behold!

Not the first time I've linked to this, but this was running on a 2080 Ti... Imagine flying through Midgar and the entire FF7 world like this?

Exactly.

It is pretty crazy.

XboxSeriex X devkit sleek flat design and looks like similar design as Xbox one X. Yet it manages to reach 12TF and 3.8Ghz cpu clocks.

Now compare the PS5 devkit it has unique V shaped design and numerous ventilation's, I guess it generates more heat?

It's interesting to see how high PS5 GPU/CPU runs at.

i legit laughed at the devkit pic. i guess 12 tflops can be achieved in a flat console after all.

i remember team thermals telling me how Sony just couldnt match the 12 tflops number because MS had figured out the only way to get 12 tflops in a box.
The dev kit is a monster.

Those gray boxes on the left of XSX were XOX dev kits. I think they even said that in the DF video.

You brought it up so I'm asking you about that number specifically.
its all in that post you quoted my man.

i think the xbox series x is 200w. ive long been saying both console makers will not hesitate to hit that number if it means they can get to double digit tflops.

this thread had this ridiculous aversion to a 200+w console. they specifically wanted the ps5 to be 9.2 tflops $399 console with the ps4 pro's thermal print.

So things really went from expecting the PS5 to be ~9 Tflops to now being ~13 Tflops?

Little update on my final prediction on PS5 because of some lessons learned from today:

Changes to the predecessor:
  • Obviously die size, my model was way too pessimistic
  • CPU
  • Cut decimals on the TF number

I'm so far behind on reading this thread, and no doubt what I am going to post will already be posted a dozen time before mine (I'm reading page 155)
Github was exactly right. Arden has 56cus, and the XSX dev kits will use all of those Cu's, so all 56 will be enabled. So why would Github show only 52 when at that point in time the dev kits would be going out.
It totally makes sense that all 56 Cu's would be enabled and mentioned in the specs.

Wasnt that Taiwanese leaker about die sizes spot on with XSX? He also had the size for PS5, so what can we work out from the size difference what that means for PS5?

Do you really think the Ps5 will have 9TF? I'll never understand how this belief came to be. To me, is just not logical, it's nonsense. It's like having a day where it's just about to rain, everything is cloudy, black clouds, strong winds, and someone suddenly says: "Man, it's likely it's not going to rain today". Like, yeah, it could happen... I guess; but it's so highly improbable, that you just dismiss him completely.

So XSX GitHub leak had 56 cu, but final is 52 which means PS5 final cu count will be 32 and will have ~8.1 tf?/s

If to you it's nonlogical, could you please also explain logically why that is? Why is it "nonsense", "highly improbable"?

I might just be a believer in Tommy Fisher now. Lines up a couple of things... Klee on the 10% difference, Andrew Reiner on the PS5 having the edge, and GitHub on 2Ghz clocks being tested.
Well that Osirisblack fella said he was going to die on the hill that the XSX was only 11.6 tflops but was being rounded up to 12 by MSs PR team.
So he is out of the running.

Whoo! PS5 speculation thread! :)

I'm still excited to see what Sony could possibly do with ReRAM on the PS5. Could their external drive utilize 4 256 GB ReRAM modules for 1 TB?

I'm not sure if this is ok to ask, so mods go easy on me if I'm crossing the line here, but didn't Klee send Matt the spec sheet for the XSX and PS5? Would he be able to say if the specs that Klee had about XSX were the same as what the reveal is? Might be able to judge his PS5 prediction with that in mind?
