The 8 is upside down.

Note how the smaller "ring" of the 8 is on bottom instead of on top.

Edit: Just checked a picture of mine, it's upside-down.
Edit 2: The box has the 8 in the correct orientation.

It is very obviously not intended as evidenced by the 8 being right side up on the RTX 2080 (Ti), GTX 1080 (Ti), GTX 980 (Ti), GTX 780 (Ti), and so on.

If you look at their website you can see the font they use and everywhere "3080" is written, it looks the way it's supposed to. Only on the physical card itself was the label printed wrong.

Exactly why I went with the 3090 instead (I joke, just a lot easier to get the 9 versus the upside down 8)

The 3 is symmetrical between the top and bottom half.

This typeface isn't new, they've been using it forever. They have the 8 upside down.

ok lol nvm, the photograph in the op makes it hard to tell the 3 is symmetrical but you can see it in the ad

It's the purpose, makes your head spin. Never underestimate the level of detail marketing people can reach... anything to have your brain work in ways you don't comprehend.

edit: by the way it was already reported i think... i remember that same discussion in era xD , worth it for the 3060 pic

Well you found the reason why Nvidia never released more than the first 5 cards they sold on release day. They can't figure out how to fix this and until they do no new cards will be produced.
