The 8 is upside down.

Official logo:

Branding on card:

Note how the smaller "ring" of the 8 is on bottom instead of on top.

What gives?

Edit: Just checked a picture of mine, it's upside-down.
Edit 2: The box has the 8 in the correct orientation.

Hey. Could be like those rare error trading cards. Keep it and sell it in 30 years for profit!!!

I'd check mine but I don't have one because, y'know, they're impossible to buy

Details matter. That's why I shelled out for the ultra-premium 3090. It's not just about the performance, it's also about the build quality

OP what did we do to deserve this. I might as well throw my whole rig out the window now with this knowledge.

Clearly intended, just look at the 3

It is very obviously not intended as evidenced by the 8 being right side up on the RTX 2080 (Ti), GTX 1080 (Ti), GTX 980 (Ti), GTX 780 (Ti), and so on.

If you look at their website you can see the font they use and everywhere "3080" is written, it looks the way it's supposed to. Only on the physical card itself was the label printed wrong.

Exactly why I went with the 3090 instead (I joke, just a lot easier to get the 9 versus the upside down 8)

The 3 is symmetrical between the top and bottom half.

This typeface isn't new, they've been using it forever. They have the 8 upside down.

ok lol nvm, the photograph in the op makes it hard to tell the 3 is symmetrical but you can see it in the ad

Due to covid19 we got non-centered Sony logo on the Dual Sense and upside down numbers on a GPU

Mans pursuit of the 'precious' can now finally rest. I now feel an unresiding peace in my soul that ones desire to obtain this unobtainable trinket is no longer a worthy goal. Let such treasures be the desires of less worthy men. I can now focus my life in a more positive direction knowing the fucking eight is upside down. Damn.

It's the purpose, makes your head spin. Never underestimate the level of detail marketing people can reach... anything to have your brain work in ways you don't comprehend.

edit: by the way it was already reported i think... i remember that same discussion in era xD , worth it for the 3060 pic

Well you found the reason why Nvidia never released more than the first 5 cards they sold on release day. They can't figure out how to fix this and until they do no new cards will be produced.
