A Dutch legend has passed. Mies Bouwman, the queen of Dutch television, but a cornerstone of home entertainment everywhere around the world has passed away. Most of you probably wonder who it is or even how to pronounce her name. Use this, and select Dutch of course.

Since televsion started in the Netherlands and TV shows appeared, Mies was in the spotlights. She presented loads and loads of programs focussed on entertainment, but she was a great doing interviews too. Here she is interviewing the late Wim Sonneveld:

She's an icon, a Dutch celebrity and, pains me to say this, the last of a world where our TV's weren't dominated by Netflix.
The last few years her health detoriated thanks to a lung infection, although her happiness was a;ready next to zero since the passing away of her husband. She passed away at 88 years old.
