Google for "R Kelly cult" if you've got nothing better to do. The general consensus is that to outsiders it looks like something illegal is going on, however his current "girls" are of legal age and are involved by their own free will, so there's nothing wrong from a legal perspective.

He is finding young women and coercing them to through financial subservience to stay with for him days at a time, give up contact with their families, and depend on him for food and shelter.
