As someone that prefers resolution over fps, it's a shame that they are not gonna provide an option for 4K/30 or 1080/60. Oh well, PC version it is then.

1080p.....what is this, 1999? Definitely going for pc on this one.

That being said, I'll take 60 fps over higher resolution usually.

I'd take a dynamic 720p 60fps option for Base console if possible would've been cool

Is FOV option confirmed for consoles?
There's probably something bottlenecking the hardware on the older systems that's preventing 720/60 on older hardware. Or, the base consoles might target 1080/30, but have something in place to keep performance up, like a dynamic resolution. Or, the game drops below 30FPS on the regular. Who knows for sure?

The hyperbole. Even on PC 1080p is the most popular resolution with higher framerate and visual settings coupled with it even all Pros etc set it like that

What if I told you that 720p was the most common gaming resolution for PC gamers according to Steam stats with 900p being second. Both of those resolutions combined make up the vast majority of current Steam users gaming resolution.

Less than 15% play at 1440p and less than 5% play at 4k.

I'll never buy a game that has parity between the X and the Pro.
Need to see the actual performance numbers before we know if there's parity.

I'm most surprised that the base machines are 30fps. When was the last time id Software allowed themselves to release a 30fps game? I feel likes it's been quite a while...

The Pro and X shouldn't be at the same resolution and FPS. This is stupid.

X should be able to do 1440 or 1600p at 60.

If it's a rock solid 60fps and 1080p with good anti-aliasing and effects I'm okay with it. I'm still debating on whether to go for the Xbox One X version or the PC version. Uncapped frame rates on the latter is a nice incentive.

I've come around on mostly wanting 60 fps over higher res when it comes to shooters at least. Now for something drenched in atmosphere like Metro Exodus I absolutely appreciate 4k, but something like Rage 2 as kinetic and frenzied the shooting appears to be it feels like something you want to be as fluid feeling as possible.

If you own a 4K display, it's kinda annoying to be limited to 1080p res anymore. Even most console games aren't sharp (jaggie, low AF, use bad visual effects to hide them) enough on 1080p displays, let alone 4K ones...

And in an open world no less. Great choice to finally focus on GAMEPLAY rather than pretty screenshots.

Framerate > resolution

All day, every day.

Hell, most tvs do an excellent job of upscaling sub-4K content, especially 2016-2018 LCD/OLED tvs.

Surely 720p at 60fps is doable on base consoles. Even 540p or something else like a scaler would do it.

Ill have to watch another trailer to see why it's so demanding.

1080p/60fps is admirable utilization of the mid-gen refresh specs, and I hope it really sticks hard to 60fps in gameplay.

I'd still like a high-res/30fps option, but 1080p/60fps is fine.

Fantastic choice to prioritize performance but I think 1080p just doesn't cut the mustard there. PC is probably the best place for this, I'd imagine.

I'll take it. Would've been disappointed if it was other way round (forced 4K with no high fps option).

Lightly dissappointed by that X resolution. But the game looks fun and my tv handles upscaling really well.

It's really funny to me how often people used to complain about playing games at 30 FPS or sub 60 FPS for years and to now hear people complain about being forced to play at 60 FPS instead of 30
