Avalanche know how to make some fun car gameplay/combat, so hell yes to them developing it.
Any info on which platforms it is for? I assume PS4, XB1 and PC
Terrible aesthetics. Hopefully the game doesn't have that kind of attitude. You can make a "I'm having fun because I get to blow shit up" vibe without having people flipping the camera off.
hey I just picked up Mad Max on sale! I wonder if it's the same team
Shit trailer but I'll wait for gameplay.
1990s called, they want their attitude back.
Cautiously waiting on gameplay now. Show me what you got, Avalanche.
And yes, Fallout and Elder Scrolls have and will always be big sellers.
oooof...that trailer is full of cringe.
Much more interested knowing Avalanche are involved. Pretty interesting choice to go from Mad Max to fucking Rage tho
Guess WB turned down the Mad Max sequel and Bethesda picked up, lol
Cool style, can't wait for gameplay
FPS experience where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything."
The mutants crawl in from the windows and vents and attack you.
THey charge you and throw themselves towards you and stumble around when shot.
I noticed that the ghouls in fallout 4 do nearly the same if not identical animations and behave the same way when stagered/throwing themselves at you.
My guess Rage 2 is a test bed for Bethesdas new game engine, similar to how rage 1 was a showcase of IDTECH 5
LOL (probably already posted)
Terrible trailer, very cringe. Gimme gamplay.
How big part was driving in the first game? Is it like the Mad Max game?
Seems like it's co-developed by id Software and Avalanche
From the german site https://bethesda.net/de/game/rage2:
I'm guessing this got Green Lit after the success of Fury Road.
Avalanche is the perfect choice, I'd say. WOOT!
Surely ID Tech 6, right?
I played RAGE for a bit around the time when it came out, but I never did finish it. Wanted to play it last year, have it on my Steam, but somehow the game never worked for me. Is it one of those "doesn't run on Windows 10 64 bit issues?", cause that would suck.
Anyway, I really liked the idea of the game and while it wasn't executed as well as people hoped, I still enjoyed what I played at the time. It's a shame I didn't get to finish it.
The tonal shift is fascinating and I wonder what caused that, maybe the success of Mad Max: Fury Road, or the underappreciated Mad Max game? Speaking of which, I finished it on PS4 again yesterday (thanks Plus!) and found myself wanting more Mad Max. Can't help but think what could be improved or added in a sequel. There's possibly no chance of ever getting a sequel, but it would be fun if you could romp around the wasteland in co-op, Far Cry 5 style. Perhaps alternating positions with one driving and one taking up the role of Chumbucket.
But let's see what RAGE 2 is going to be like and what kind of other changes we can expect in the gameplay, tomorrow.
I actually enjoyed this trailer quite a bit. Yeah, it's goofy as hell, but I'm OK with the Mad Max devs throwing Fury Road, Borderlands, and Far Cry in a blender and seeing what comes out. Never played the original so a major tonal shift doesn't bother me much.
Oh holy shit. ID for the shooting and avalanche for the driving stuff. This could be fucking awesome then!
I wonder if they got the job because of Mad Max, or if Mad Max 2 was in development, got cancelled, and turned into a Rage game.
Official site also has the box art:
Definitely PS4/XB/PC and maybe Switch later(?)
Also that "co-developed" feels like PR talk; Avalanche will definitely be doing the heavy lifting on this one.
Just to remind everybody what Avalanche Engine (APEX) is capable of (not my screens)

Soooo can't wait to see gameplay tomorrow :D
Love the tone of the trailer, seems they aren't taking this seriously at all and just running and having fun with it. Smart move in terms of marketing on that front.
Never played the original but I'm very interested in picking up the sequel
I’ll wait to see gameplay before judging from that, uh, interesting trailer.
I hope Just Cause 2/Mad Max team is on JC4.
id+Avalanche is a dream combo for open-world shooter fun!
Didn't need that trailer to get my hyped for this game. I really enjoyed the first one and can't wait to get my hands on that wingstick again! Looking forward to the trailer tomorrow.
Ugh. Avalanche Software.
Never liked any of their games. Incredibly boring worlds and repetitive missions.
Why not just show the gameplay trailer now. Stupid trailer lol.
So is this Avalanche Sweden or Avalanche 'murica?
