USGamer - 4/5
In Rage 2, you punch storage containers to open them. There's no light ding or musical chime as your character happily unearths another find. No, you crush the neon pink lid underneath your power armored fist, scoop up the contents, and move on. Rage 2 is that kind of game.

ACG - Buy

IGN - 8/10
Rage 2's moment-to-moment combat is outstanding, making it shine among open-world first-person shooters.

Destructoid - 8/10
I was pleasantly surprised with the shooter chimera that is Rage 2, which ended up being open world mini-Doom 2016. It's not going to make anyone a believer in shooters or the free roam format, but folks already predisposed to those vices will find plenty to sink their teeth into.

Game Informer - 7/10
Rage 2 fails to deliver any interesting characters, environments, or activities. Solid shooting and cool weapons lift up the other elements of this title, however.

GameSpot - 6/10
The wild, exceptional combat of Rage 2 contends with some of the genre's greats, but it's disappointing that the game's world squanders its potential.

GamesRadar+ - 3/5
Rage 2 has a fun core gameplay loop, but everything around it falls flat on its face.

PCGamesN - 7/10
The pace of id and Avalanche's FPS is neutered by a dull open world and thin story but, in an unbridled whirlwind of gruesome gibs, you probably won't care.

Im going with an 81. I just feel it. Think it will be one of those games that gets score from 5-9

Low 80s, I'll go 83-84.

Still utterly baffled that this game isn't higher than 4k on X, and matched the Pro in terms of pretty much everything. That's horseshit if ever I saw it. The IQ is dreadful as well, so it's not even a nice 1080p image, but one ruined with CA... Ugh... At least give me 1440p for Christ's sake...

I was thinking high 80's originally from the trailers but hearing from these threads that it is more open world based and that it is quite mostly I reckon high 70/ low 80 so around 81.

7-8s, I guess. Functional. There's an open world, you can do stuff in it. "Humor". Attractive visuals. Guns go BOOM and BAM and SPLAT and DOOTDOOTDOOTDOOT.

You can tell review scores (and our expectations) are fucked when of the 5 poll options one of them covers 0-80 and the other 4 cover 81-100

It's almost as if no one really uses the full scale and anything under an 8/10 might as well be considered poor

It's gonna be a really fun 84.

+ Great combat
+ Nice visuals
+ Fun to play
+ Crazy story and characters

- A lot of filler, tedious side content
- By the numbers open-world-structure

Like I wrote in the other thread: Below 81 because everything is pointing to uninspired open-world busywork with RPG elements and trash story, characters and setting. Might still be Avalanches best game yet because the gameplay looks good.

I'm predicting mid 80s. Sounds like the combat is really good which can carry a game like this a long ways.

Agree, the pool options are ridiculous!!! Where are the 70's, 60's and 50's???????

I swear you could put the logo of any open world game released in the last 5 years over this write up and it would look like a believable review

Based on some of the impressions in the OT, I'm expecting a Below 81 metascore, but I'm still interested either way

I'm hoping 90+ but my gut says it will score pretty bad. I'm thinking 70-79 range.

is this gonna be one of those review threads that's more fun than the game itself?

Nah. It's not an exclusive for one, nor is it really competing with other franchises. It also seems like a fine if not mindblowing shooter, mostly middle-of-the-road good.

Probably gonna be a boring review thread.
