After the shitshow 76 was and how many issues it exposed within the client (a client that cant even handle game purchasing, mind you) this is pretty puzzling. Bethesda has the absolute worst client in the business
I'm kinda guessing you weren't a PC gamer prior to Steam. The 'no Steam no buy' movement is one of the cringiest in gaming.
Is it safe to purchase it from Bethesda store or should I be afraid of someone swatting me?
Oh yeah, Bethesda is fucking delisuonal if they think I'm trusting them with my credit card info anytime soon. Or that their servers will work. Or the techincal issues the launcher had for Fallout 76.Given Bethesda's recent fuck-ups, there's absolutely no way I'd trust them with any private data.

I think it's cool for publishers to have their own.Yup. Steam fanatics should get used to this as the technology to make a digital storefront is near turnkey at this point so basically every publisher is going to end up with their own.
I was thinking TES6, but yeah, Doom Eternal could be the one.

Yeah I'll give Bethesda my credit card details, what could go wrong?
What? UWP? That's even worse than Epic moneyhatting developers or Bethesda and their buggy software.I certainly like the way the MS Store works, download something and never have to open it again. Let the OS manage the app. Having a nice library view is nice though, but that shouldn't be tied to a storefront.
But I guess companies want you to engage in their ecosystem as much as possible. Meh.

More like not a good look for this game. If Bethesda is so afraid of user refunds, god knows what state this game will release as.

Between this and the Epic news, I think that we're starting to see the beginning of the end of Steam's absolute dominance on PC. Of course Steam will always be a central platform in PC gaming, but it's just not the one stop shop it used to be and I think developers will continue to move in other directions away from it.

But they are all worse that Steam.
I'd prefer they all take the Ubisoft route of having and heavily pushing their own, but still make their games available on Steam.
I can't take anyone saying "its good to have competition" seriously when we have so many launchers already, lol.
