Don't really like the look of the Kanal rework.. Not every map needs a multiple flanking routes.
I mean, if you want it to be a playable map it does.

Everything they are showing is getting me very excited. The movie was super sweet, and I'm happy for more character interaction, especially my boy Thatcher getting some love. Siege has been getting by on character development because the community has been doing it for them. Hopefully they do more videos. Adding extra voice lines in the game when specific operators interact would be a fun way to add more to the world. (Bandit frying a jammer, the sisters concussing each other, twitch opening a mirror, etc)

I'm fine with the map reworks. Hereford doesn't count as a rework and they acknowledged as much, so I haven't been around for them in the past. Canal is fun to play so I'm happy for it to be better, and Theme Park is one of my least favorite maps so also a good upgrade.

The reflect damage might be tweaked to once you get 100hp of team damage the reflect starts, not just a full kill. Don't know. I hope it works. They didn't expand on rewarding players for good behavior, curious about that.

Good stuff, next year shaping up great.
When they showed it they said as soon as you damage a teammate it turns on. I know they only showed a kill, so we'll have to see, but the description they used made it sound like any friendly fire sets it on.

A small pet peeve of mine is that they model loads of new sights for the new operators weapons but don't make them available for everyone else. There should also be more nuance to choosing sights than ACOG vs. everything else.
I've only seen the official Ubisoft videos and two from a YouTuber named Get_Flanked (just showed up in my recommended and they highlight each operator, they're good videos). Anyway, I noticed Mozzie's holographic sight for the Commando 9 is black (which appears to be the only difference?). I assume it's only for that gun and not the rest? Seems odd and a massive tease to do that, since it's something the community has been asking for since launch.

Is it only for his? I've not seen anything about it yet so I assume it is.

EDIT: Apparently it has been discussed and it is indeed for all holographic sights. Nice.

They changed Hereford into a stupid maze to cater to roamers wanting more stairwells to flank from and now we can never play the original again.

They wouldn't have had to load the game up with anti-roam operators (some of which are totally broken) like Lion, dokkaebi, jackal, etc if they didn't make these huge maps that are impossible to clear in 3 minutes.

My nitpick is that it seems like the base operators all had good diverse loadouts and new operators seem to have a decent selection
while early expanded characters feel pretty limited(Valkyrie for example, feel like she could use 1 more weapon option. even just a different pistol).

Kanal is a fun map but it's not 'hur dur people wanna roam' it's literally 'if you know how to play, this map is effectively the same size as house' since half of the map can be rendered 100% irrelevant by the attackers at will.

Hey, just want to say I really appreciate hearing someone else say this and I agree. I've been taking a battering on ERA for making the same points.

Kanal is a lot like Clubhouse. Just needs an extra connector for defenders to make it a viable map again. It's the right size, just needs a way for defenders to relieve pressure from being surrounded.

I don't get it, is the issue that the map isn't friendly for roaming because of that one connecting tunnel? Kinda agree that roaming isn't a must for every map.

I think it's because the editions changed a week ago and the original 20 operators are locked at the start. "Legacy Operators will cost 500, 1000, 1500, and 2000 Renown based on how many Operators from a specific CTU you have unlocked." Not sure if it applies to Ultimate edition, but I think so.

I'm very happy with the upcoming changes to casual and TK. Casual reduced to 3:30 a around, attacker spawn choice pick and shows what site defenders will spawn it are all what I had in mind.

It's just odd that it's taken them over 3 years to realise this. People have been asking for these changes for so long. Don't want to seem like a person who complains even after they do good, it would just be nicer for them to acknowledge issues quicker.

Just looking at the support articles for them and it seems like it's an issue they are aware of for people who have bought the newest version of the game and haven't got the operators.

Less about roaming, more about the fact that half of Kanal is goes unused whenever you play it. It's just a question of which half, depending on the site you choose. Makes for very cramped and dull encounters.

I miss the old Clubhouse CCTV-Bedroom flank/runout for maximum entertainment value, but I think the construction room was just what the map needed. Same with a second set of stairs out of basement. Two minor tweaks, and now the map flows much better.

Roaming is pretty important. Games where you're just 5 people in a room holding an angle until someone gets a pick is boring as fuck. If you cut off the connector on Kanal, it's actually smaller on each side than house.

The choice isn't between 5 people huddled in a room or a team fractured all over the map. There's a balance. Kanal was one of the better launch maps and it was a lot of fun. The problem with making every map viable for the popular meta and faster-paced aggressive roaming defense style is they all end up like Villa and New Hereford with busy rooms and corridors with loads of rotation options, and less memorable, unique or realistic layouts.

What exactly do you think is going to make Kanal bad about having a tunnel between the two buildings?

Hey Cav's hair isn't just a giant plastic helmet. That's a big improvement even if it looks odd.

Well I played a bunch of the TTS tonight and got some impressions of the new season.

To start off with a downer I think the map isn't good. I thought Ubi had learned with Fortress how to make maps that only seem big but with strong map design and striking room layouts make them easy to learn and get around. Unfortunately the new map just seems like another giant map full of rooms with maze like hallways, and even thought they color coded the different buildings me and my group were still completely lost after hours of playing it. There are a couple well designed rooms like the bar and garage area but everything else is just another roamer-bait labyrinth.

On the upside I really like both of the new operators. Gridlock seems like a really strong attacker to have on your team because of how many angles she can cut off (she gets 3 trap gadgets right now, maybe they nerf that during TTS like they did to Kaid/Nomad last season), and they propagate pretty wide once they are laid down. Her weapons are good too.

Mozzie is a really interesting Op. I think his gadget will be really fun to use but I also think that when it comes to higher level play more people will just end up picking something like Echo over him as far as defensive scouting goes. It'll be interesting to see how his gadget plays out over time. One thing is for sure though his 2nd primary gun is really good, borderline overpowered. It shoots really fast and is accurate as hell.

Another thing I really liked is the Caveira pistol nerf that I don't think was widely documented. She can't spam fire anymore and is better off waiting for a headshot. This will piss off many cav mains but whatever.

All in all I'm disappointed in the map, especially if it is the last real new map we get, but I'm excited about the new Operators.

Those pink skins are all ace except for monty. The fucking manbun, unicorn, and leopard print are spot fucking on though
