Finally got the PTR downloaded...I don't get whoever was saying the new map is a maze. The rooms are almost all huge, and the layout is instantly recognizeable. I droned it out for the first time and immediately went 'oh ok this is a motel' and ran in and obviously knew the garage, and then saw the bar/restaurant and it was like 'oh'

Entire layout: garage, office, electrical room, compressor, convenience store, waiting room = garage. Kitchen, dining room, bull, games room, piano, party, mezzanine = restaurant. showers, laujndry, dorms, and the two bedrooms = motel.

idk, on a list that sounds like a lot but it's not that many rooms at all, and most of them are pretty open air or large.

I feel like compared to the last year and a half worth of maps, this map I might not know them all by name yet, but I can look at where I am and instantly know at least which part of the map I'm on just by the name and visuals, which is a good sign.

the relatively simple L shaped layout is easy to learn too.

Only played a couple of games on TTS, but new operators seemed fine. I took to Mozzie quite a bit. I like his low capacity gun with the cool new holo sight. New map was immediately fun to play. It's really hard to tell how you feel about a map until you've really learned it. And if I'm being honest I haven't even gotten to that point with New Hereford or Fortress with my lack of Siege time lately. But I can say that it immediately has more personality than the pure 'cube' maps which have become so standard.

Gridlock will probably cater to my playstyle as well as I like to cut off roamer play (mostly because teammates are generally too ADD to do that job and just want to push site blindly), it's just with a new map, everyone playing it like idiots not knowing the layout, I don't have much concept of where to use her gadget. And it seems kind of silly to play TTS outside the discovery playlist because who doesn't want to get reps on the new map?

Anyway the Year 4 roadmap seems good. It's a little strange I guess to do new maps in back to back seasons and then go 3 in a row on the reworks. Seems like they could have spaced it out better. I like that the reworks are trending more towards the style we got with Club House and not the full bastardization that is New Hereford.

New casual format is a huge improvement, I'd rather they took away another 15 seconds from the round but that's a nitpick. The only thing that's really missing is a working map select where I could set my casuals to be on all the exiled-from-ranked maps that I miss and love. House, Plane, Yacht, Favela, and the soon to be reworked maps 24/7 would be great. It's no fun booting up casual and getting some ranked map that I've played 3 of the last 4 matches.

Ubisoft is doing a great job with Siege, bought the pass again on both Xbox and PC to support the game even though I don't get to play it as much as I used to. I'll make a concerted effort to play more this year instead of stupidly grinding garbage timed challenges in games like PUBG and BFV.

Oh, and those pink skins which I'll just hope are fakes are total trash.

Sorry to hassle the thread with what I'm sure is a repeatedly asked question, but how easy is this game to get into for a newbie who plays solo?

I've just started out on PC, what's your platform?

I have to say it's not been as savage as I was expecting, and I've had a lot of fun in the few games I've played so far, they have all been solo games too.

From my experience so far it's been pretty accessible, I haven't yet felt frustrated at being a newbie to the game.

Selecting an operator and all of their abilities is the most overwhelming thing for me.

I play solo 100% of the time these days and there are days when it's good and days when it's bad. I play ranked to get a rank for the season and once I do, I stick with casual. To answer your question, as a solo player starting out, it might seem very rough especially with the vote to kick system in casual, but that should not discourage you to continue playing to get better.

If you're new, try to learn the maps ASAP, along with the ops + their abilities. Remember to drone out areas first as an attacker due to defenders who roam the map and as a defender you should stay around the objective at all times until you feel comfortable to roam further away. Just know, this game has been out for 4 years now and the community that's playing can be toxic at times. I say this as a level 247 player who solos all the time. There's good days and bad days, lol.

I wonder if the Y1-2 ops are ever going to get artwork for their bio pages like Y3 onnwards' have. They've gotta have some nice concept art they could put there, right? They might not be as lavish as the pieces for new ops, but I feel like something unique there would be better than a zoom in on the default portrait. It makes them feel lesser as a package, y'know?

What happened to this game? I LOVED it during the first 12-15 months. Then I stopped playing and I decided to try it again today....but watching this is sad, just sad.
This is not the R6 I know and loved. This is a different game.

So Yeh we not getting thay house, favela or yacht reworks then? I'm not fussed about house as ita this fun crazy casual map, as mentioned in the link above. It's a map to mess around on it should stay thay way i think. Why rework maps that are already popular and balanced enough?

I'm really loving the 'defensive power' that attacker pushes have now because of operators like Gridlock and Nomad. It's kind of like coordinated pushes have been reinforced because now you can actually do something to prevent yourselves from being sniped at from 3 different sides as you push the objective. Defenders have to be more aware of the main attacker push and try to take it head on, rather than just scatter and flank constantly.

Also I don't know if it's because of the leaning changes or what but gunfights feel so much better on the test server. It's so nice getting into actual firefights without people bobbing around like crazy.

WTching an episode of 6news with coreross and something came to mind. Faulty defuser. What if every 1,000 defuses +/- it becomes faulty and doesn't work?

What if every 1,000,000 bullets a game jams?

This would be in addition to the realistic ammo management. Maybe my numbers are off but they could be tweaked. Would this just be bullshit and turn the game to shit or would it add a small, potential realistic addition?

Like tripping in Smash? No, not in a PvP competitive shooter. I really like games with jamming guns, but in those you're usually shooting hundreds or even thousands of rounds, not just dozens.

If you want to get realistic, I've often wondered how the game would be if traps were equal opportunity. Put a Kapkan down, you better remember it. Frost mats. Anything electrified, etc.

Yeah, I agree that if you do one thing, you need to do them all. And the game would need to look very different.

After my post I was thinking of a match I played where I spent like 25 bullets chasing a drone. Definitely wouldnt do that in the realistic version.

This is not the R6 I know and loved. This is a different game.

I had two games this morning. First was Skyscraper and the opposing team was a co-ordinated high-ranked team who rushed the balconies on both levels - a hugely advantageous position for the Defense on this map. We had Lion so this scared them back inside, but the fast-paced and aggressive conflict 10 seconds into a round is not what I play Rainbow Six Siege for. The current fans will contest this is something you have to git gud and deal with, and that it's a legit strategy - whereas I see it as cheap, sabotaging the game and playing against the objective. Less of an issue in Ranked, and with a mic'd team.

Then Plane. The Defense got lucky and rushed cockpit, which is where Attack congregated. We got obliterated. And again, this is poor form, but at least the enemy had taken a risk sending all their resource to cockpit - if we'd have split up or entered from elsewhere we'd have a clear run to the objective. So... that's less of a problem. But... I hate dealing with agressive defenders - if they're high level players it isn't a risky strategy for them. So... is the real issue here matchmaking?

Side note: Curious to see Pro League banning MIRA - easily one of the best DLC operators and gadgets.

Personally, I'd remove the following for being a bit pish or overcomplicating the meta: Alibi, Capitao, Nomad, Echo, Ela, Lion, Finka, Gridlock, Zofia, Jackal.

Just to gauge interest, am I the only one that would like to see a season dedicated to improve Terrorist Hunt? I feel since Vegas it's an integral part of the series and it sucks to have this potentially cool gamemode in the game that is treated like a red-headed stepchild.

But the producers statement a while ago that new PvE content like Outbreak is out of the question dampened my hopes quite a bit.

How hard is it to pick up the game and learn at this point? All the talk i see about toxicity makes me feel like I'm just going to get discouraged and give up.

WellbornWarrior I get where you're coming from, but I feel in general Siege is a big departure from the series in a lot of aspects so to call out one feature thats different seems maybe nitpicky? So much has changed, if we wanted to discuss what was "integral" to past rainbow sixes we'd have a lot to discuss. I'm kind of playign devil's advocate though, as I do agree that if they have the mode in their in the first place then at least they could develop and flesh it out. Why do anything half hearted right?

Expand it. Add more enemies, better gamemodes, maybe even a map tailored for it. And most of all improve the braindead AI.

I think plenty of the game's fans would want this, especially rather than the zombie PvE mode they put out. A unique PvE mode to clear on each new DLC map with unique enemies and a plot with cut scenes, would go a long way. I understand why they want to focus on PvP, but PvE is pretty good in the game even though it's basic.

You'll find a lot of fans of the current meta aren't keen on any suggestion the game needs improving or moving in a direction other than the one it's very firmly headed.

You're right that the series changed a lot over time, but at it's core it was always a semi-realistic, high lethality shooter with an anti-terror theme, which still is quite a niche today. As the series has shown, you can tack on quite a bit to that.

Remember when you first unlocked the Article 8 mission? It was totally baller, partly because it was so unexpected. I would like them to repeat such a thing. Hell if we are at it, bring back the planning phase in some fashion.

It'll never happen, they'd save a change like that for a sequel unfortunately.

I would love improved Terrorist Hunt, and I do think it would benefit the game (get new players more accustomed to the maps and mechanics) but I just don't see it happening :\

I don't think anyone is against that kind of content, I'd love a campaign for instance, the issue is where the resources come from to do it. Any resource they spend on making Thunt better directly competes with resources to make other parts of the game better instead.

I think they should establish a new separate team for single player/THunt content. Treat it like it's own game but within R6 Siege. Kinda similar to how Rockstar handles multiplayer content in their games.
