Surely turning off ray tracing would give them the 50% performance back, why drop the resolution?

I think PS5 wants this to be a standard so we can expect it for first party at least.

Awesome, hopefully they can reach 1440p on 60 fps.

Anyway next gen is just beginning, I'd think they will be able to reach 4k60 in the future.

I'm curious about the resolution and whether the rest of the effects will still be present (raytracing, et al). 1440p seems a good balance, since it's less than half the pixels of 4K, still an appreciable bump over 1080p, and should still look quite good and sharp on a big 4K screen.

And yes, I hope this sort of thing becomes the standard. Let us make the choice of what we sacrifice for what's important to us.

So I guess they gonna do the same for Spider-Man and drop resolution too for 60 FPS mode. The good thing they aren't sacrifcing RT for 60 FPS and if they have great reconstruction methods or they use their excellent temporal injection method it could be great alternative.
Wait I thought Spider-Man at 60 was comforted to not have ray tracing

Sounds great to me! Love the options Insomniac is giving with their games. I hope a ton of other devs are thinking the same.

Yeah thinking 1440p 60. Not sure how if l I'd feel if 1080p, but pretty sure I'd have to go for the 60 FPS option regardless. This game excites me more and more and I can't wait to play my first R&C game!

Will it still feature ray-tracing at 1440p?

I have a feeling it would be 1440p 60fps no RT and 1080p 60fps with RT.

I expected next-gen to be able to handle 60fps 4k.
At least they are giving us options. Hopefully, the 60fps mode will keep all effects (like RT) while sacrificing only the resolution.

dynamic res with higher fps targets should be the standard, reconstruction techniques and ml'ing can get you up to a 4k look as well (no checkboarding though, too fuzzy for me)

Glorious 60fps Ratchet is back.

Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time were soooooo goooooooood with 60fps.
