holy ffffffffffffffuck double gold for daily challenges right now

if you have a multiplier going that's absolute insanity

I JUST GOT 1 GOLD BAR FOR PICKING EVERGREEN HUCKLEBERRIES

If you have full multiplier and do all 7 daily challenges that's 10 GOLD BARS IN A DAY.

Yeah it's pretty good.

The fact that it came about 10 hours later than normal is a bit odd; I'm assuming they were hoping that one of the versions would sneak through cert at the 11th hour, but eventually had to concede defeat.

Yo, is hunting and fishing still the best ways to make money? Haven't played in months but made a new character on PS4.

I'll miss my Xbox character :(

For cash, definitely. Bird feathers are particularly lucrative, so a lot of people head north of St Denis, but I mostly just make money from deer to the west of Blackwater.

To make gold, the daily objectives are the way to go. At the moment, because of the double payouts, in conjunction with a 28 day streak you can make 10 gold bars per day just by doing the daily objectives.

I hope they add more shit to do soon. I remember GTAO being like this originally though.

You haven't played the story missions? Get on that ASAP, they're the main content in RDO.

I always thought the main content was staring at my phone while I wait for a 20 minute timer to tick down to 30 seconds. I left my crew they kept griefing people and it was a huge waste of time I don't have a ton of time to play I'd like to not spend 90 minutes killing level 10s or just shooting at people cause there's 7 of us what are they gonna do about it? I did watch them get wrecked by a free aim defensive mode guy though was pretty funny.

That way lies madness... 😋

I rarely do Stranger missions TBH. They're good for levelling up, but hunting, daily objectives, and story missions are what I spend my time on.

I hope in the update they add new types of stranger missions jailbreaks are great but you can only get them from 3 out of the however many strangers there are. I guess that's probably what the professions are gonna be so wish granted lol. I I can't wait for the update 'm mostly excited for the new clothes I've been wearing the exact same outfit for almost 2 months I only changed it because I got the ultimate version and liked the vest and boots.

One of today's daily challenges is to drive a train. Not just be in it when it ride, but to steal it and drive it yourself. So I've found a train in Saint Denis, hopped on it and stole it. When i was driving through the train station I saw 3 other players jumping on board, and I was sure they would kill eachother and the last remaining guy would kill me so he could drive the train and get the challenge. But what actually happend? They were just standind there, waiting for their turn. When my challenge popped I've stopped the train, jumped out and the next guy took over the train. As the train was departing, I waved to the other players, they waved back at me.

It's cool when players aren't dicks to each other :)

Yeah but aren't they one and done? You can't repeat them?

You can repeat them the payout is terrible though and most of the time you get grouped with level 100+ that steals all the kills. Besides the best mission in RDO is the wedding stranger mission in Saint Denis that one is worth seeing unspoiled it's pretty rare though I've only gotten it once or twice and I take missions from that guy all the time.

It's hard to get excited for Bounty Hunter because I know it's gonna be more ride for 5 minutes two minutes of headshot auto aim combat and then 10 minutes sitting afk in the safe zone while I wait for the last 30 seconds to turn it in.

The full newswire post:

RED DEAD ONLINE UPDATE COMING SEPTEMBER 10 INTRODUCING FRONTIER PURSUITS - NEW BOUNTY HUNTER, TRADER AND COLLECTOR SPECIALIST ROLES AND MORE

The next Red Dead Online update arrives September 10 and introduces three new Frontier Pursuits, the next step in the continual evolution of Red Dead Online.

71ecad1bc5b48fe3ac76eaea88a18e13e36e8600.jpg

Frontier Pursuits are an ongoing series of Roles for players to inhabit, delivering a wide array of themed activities that each offer unique items, skills and more as you progress through each Role.

In addition to the first three new Roles comes dramatic improvements to player control with quicker and more responsive movement across all phases of combat and locomotion; the ability to redesign your character's appearance without resetting progress; greater damage resistance while in the Defensive playing style; new Ability Cards; new Daily Challenges and Daily Role Challenges; more Dynamic Events happening across the frontier; a slew of new items and much more.
With each Role, you'll always have new pursuits to embark upon that lead to unique items and skills as you progress, in addition to Cash and Gold payouts. As Red Dead Online continues to evolve, more Frontier Pursuits will be added, giving you new Roles, new choices and more ways to personalize your path through the world of Red Dead Online.

Each Role automatically earns Role XP as you complete a Role's activities: when you hunt a bounty, you'll earn Role XP toward the Bounty Hunter; when you find a collectible, you'll earn Role XP towards the Collector and so on. Role XP counts towards your progression through 20 Role Ranks. You will reach a new tier of distinction every 5 ranks: Novice, Promising, Established and Distinguished.

Unlocking a Role Rank earns Role Tokens and at certain ranks you'll also unlock new skills, such as the Bounty Hunter ability to duck for protection on horseback or a Trader's ability to train their camp dog to warn of a camp raid by thieves; upgrades to your satchel's carrying capacity; or access to new Role specific Free Roam events. Each tier also has a kit of items that are unique to the Role and can be unlocked for purchase using Role Tokens.

For example, the Trader's Novice Kit gives you access to seven Trader Role items including a unique Saddle, Gun Belt and a Stew Pot that provides your camp with fresh meals to refill your cores and your Posse's cores (and additional recipes to prepare special stews for Gold Cores), while the Bounty Hunter's Established Kit gives you access to seven Bounty Hunter Role items - including a Bounty Wagon to hold multiple bounty targets, the Bolas throwing weapon to tangle the legs of bounties, a new outfit and more.

Players that progress to Distinguished ranks will have earned a range of new skills that will be useful in all their pursuits across the frontier; advanced camp styles and comforts; and recognizable clothing items that will show off their accomplishments in each discipline.

Get started as a Bounty Hunter when you meet the Legendary Bounty Hunter in Rhodes and purchase the Bounty Hunter License. The standard cost is 15 Gold Bars, while Twitch Prime Members who link their Twitch and Rockstar Games Social Club accounts by Sunday September 8 will get the Bounty Hunter License for free starting September 10.

Licensed Bounty Hunters can pick up work by visiting bounty boards located near law offices, post offices and train stations across the states. There is no shortage of criminals to be dealt with and the targets range in difficulty, from lone low-level petty thieves to notorious outlaws with armed protection details and a watchful eye. Taking on an armed gang or bringing multiple targets to justice is made easier with the help of a Posse, who will all earn a cut of the final bounty. And keep in mind, bringing in targets alive will yield a greater reward.

Eclipsing Bounty Hunter Rank 12 will open up the opportunity to take down other players with high bounties of $20 or more. Bounty Hunters will be notified through an invite about the opportunity to hunt down the wanted player when they're nearby in a structured pursuit. The wanted player must escape (or surrender) within the allotted time and if captured, they'll also have opportunities to escape and flee. If the Bounty Hunter brings the target in alive, they'll receive an award while the criminal serves time.

Unique Bounty Hunter skills and items include:
  • Focus: Targets glow red in Eagle Eye
  • Reinforced Lasso: A lasso made with reinforced rope to keep bounties secure
  • Reverse Spin: Perform a Reverse Spin with a single pistol or revolver
  • Tonics Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Tonics Pouch
  • Eagle Eye+: Track enemies while sprinting or galloping
  • Spin Up: Perform a Spin Up with a single pistol or revolver
  • Kit Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Kit Pouch
  • Tracking Arrow Pamphlet: A pamphlet recipe on how to craft Tracking Arrows
  • Reverse Spin Up: Perform a Reverse Spin Up with a single pistol or revolver
  • Ducking: Duck for protection while on horseback
  • Bolas: A thrown weapon, perfect for tangling the legs of bounties
  • Bounty Wagon: A wagon for securely retaining bounty targets

Your trusted camp companion, Cripps, has long dreamed of starting a trading outpost and you're going to help him make it happen - by becoming a partner in the fledgling Cripps Trading Company. Combining Cripps' lifetime of working with animal materials and your skills at hunting and frontier security, you'll have the perfect ingredients to develop a thriving business.

Once you agree to help Cripps, you can start turning your camp into a business by sourcing items for Cripps to convert into sellable goods. An investment of 15 Gold Bars to purchase a Butcher's Table will get your business up and running, while all PlayStation 4 players will get the Butcher's Table for free.

833a93507c360f35629c2437cecbfe99c59c39d1.jpg

Once you're operational, you'll provide Cripps with Materials through hunting animals – pristine pelts and carcasses will provide better yields. You'll also take on Resupply Missions to acquire additional necessities through less than savory tactics. Once supplied, Cripps will begin turning the materials into sellable goods, which can then be sent out on low-risk local deliveries for payment or across greater distances for a premium.

Improve your hunting yields with a Hunting Wagon for larger hauls or upgrade your Delivery Wagons for larger sales. As business flourishes and your presence becomes known in the market, your competition may grow jealous of your success, so keep an eye out for raids on your camp. As your trade grows, you might consider purchasing a camp dog from Wilderness Outfitters. Not only are dogs great camp companions for all players, but a Trader of sufficient rank can teach their dog to warn of incoming attacks.

Unique Trader skills and items include:
  • Stew Pot: A camp upgrade that unlocks stew recipes to boost cores
  • Ingredients Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Ingredients Pouch
  • Awareness: Identify rival Trader wagons at an increased range
  • Canine Warning: Train your dog to warn of thieves raiding your camp
  • Medium and Large Delivery Wagons: Upgraded wagons that can hold more goods for transport
  • Weapons Locker: Store weapons for later use
  • Lance Knife: A bespoke knife style available to Traders only
  • Efficiency: Learn to increase the amount of usable materials from perfect carcasses
  • Materials Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Materials Pouch
  • Hunting Wagon: A sturdy wagon fit for carrying multiple carcasses, hides and pelts
  • Protection: Reduce the chance of raids at your camp

Seek out the mysterious travelling saleswoman Madam Nazar to acquire the Collector's Bag and get started on the path of the Collector. By successfully collecting all 54 hidden playing cards in GTA Online you can forego the upfront cost of the Collector's Bag and earn it for free. Otherwise, it will cost 15 Gold Bars for access to collecting and selling rare items.

With Madam Nazar's help, you will be able to explore the world finding valuable treasures, whether they're discarded Tarot cards in abandoned camps, buried treasures unearthed with your trusty shovel, hidden family heirlooms and more.

As you progress, you'll unlock enhanced searching skills; more useful tools like a metal detector; benefits like increased carrying capacities; the ability for your horse to directly pluck and pass herbs to you while mounted, and more.

The trader in the top picture is wearing a ring and there's a couple of new facial hairs and maybe new hair styles in those pictures can't tell with the hats. And that collector outfit is cool as hell I love the boots I can't wait to get a pair of those and the double gunbelts and people said we might even be able to customize the straps on our guns if so Rockstar is going all out on the customization.

id do trader but it sounds like the gtao missions, which were a snorefest
Sounds very similar to the GTAO businesses from a selling perspective. Hopefully the sourcing will be a lot more fun though - I enjoy hunting, and this sounds more like the hunting for crafting outfits in the RDR2 SP.

But yeah, sell your business via a wagon delivery that notifies every other player, and watch the vultures and griefers converge...

Hopefully the Trader camp can only be raided by NPCs. It would be silly if it prevents the white flag, meaning that your only safe places would be in stores or near Strangers, rather than your own camp.

I also wonder how well it will actually work, given that camps are so broken in RDO that I've given up even trying to spawn them any more.

EDIT: Actually, upon re-reading it looks like the sourcing will be more by-the-numbers than I was expecting. I'll wait and see, but that'll be disappointing if true.

Best things to do when starting anew?
It's about the daily objectives (with streaks) to make gold, and hunting to make money. But do all of the co-op story missions first, they're great and you get some nice payouts for first time completion of the strands as host (Kill Them Each And Every One, and Destroyed By Grief).

Do your research before buying any horses, saddles, weapons, or pamphlets. You can waste a heap of money on useless stuff there.

That's seriously impressive at level 40.

I'm at level 97 and only have 170 gold bars and $3k. There are about $2k worth of pamphlets I want to buy, but I'm saving my money until we see how the DLC shakes out.

I'm level 36ish and have around $500 and 60 gold bars. I'll probably be off work tomorrow so hopefully the update will be stable enough to play. I only have to pay gold for the collector role. I'm very interested in getting a new horse but I'm not sure how to categorize which would be best for my level. The two I have now are the free ones PS4 players got.

I had a level 65 character I deleted and had a bunch of cash and and I haven't bought anything with gold since like June when I got my old character high enough to unlock almost the entire clothing store.

I was really careful with my gold I've been wearing the exact same outfit since the end of May I wore it on my old character and I'm wearing it now actually god I can't wait for new clothes. When I deleted my character I was running with a crew that would play almost everyday from 6pn to around 1 am I'd be a zombie at work but I was rich lol I think I deleted my character I had almost 3.5k because I'd maxed all my ability cards already and never bought clothing because the last drip feed was total trash.

You can make a ton of money doing stranger missions for a couple of hours a day I work nights now so I mostly play at 2AM until 6 or 7 am while I'm off and I make about 300-400 dollars a night. I'd have more money but those ability cards and upgrading my new characters guns cleaned me out.

Explosive ammo is so nice for keeping people from bothering you the people in my old crew all had it and no one ever messed with us because if they did they'd get 6 people shooting them with explosive everything. I'm really looking forward to being high enough level to get it

Wait until they do another horse rank requirement drop week you can get a Missouri Fox Trotter at level 40 that way it's a great horse the one I used on my old character fast as hell never runs out of stamina and doesn't spook easily. American Paints are all right and so are Shires but I'd hold off for a MFT or one of the other higher rank horses during a rank reduced event week.
